  1. Isn't that the UE3 powered online shooter? What makes it a modders paradise? Lots of tools for content creation as part of the game.
  2. APB.... Oh dear it feels unfinished. It's a modders paradise if you ask me though... Not that I mod.
  3. If it ain't -20 I ain't happy, I hate the heat, infact I hate 15c nevermind the current spate of hot English rain, Yes I want it to rain, and I don't want it to stop unless it decides to snow. You can keep your hot climates you goddamn freaks of nature! Guildford is also far too humid... Sunday I was sat in my pants SWEATING, and this was at midnight!
  4. That is true, but I don't know the details of the tax breaks for the development house and whatnot. Regardless, Criterion Games (Need for Speed) is based out of the United Kingdom as well. EA would have to be getting one hell of an advantage in another way, if saving money on game development through taxes was not something that appealed to them. Criterion are a much much smaller team than they used to be, they've something in the region of 35-50 staff. EA are big on outsource the artwork for games. Oh and Criterion are better known for Burnout... Not that Need for Speed is looking bad mind, but that's certainly not their pedigree. I don't think there would be much to gain for EA, but it may aid other parties whom are rivals with a much stronger foothold in the UK.
  5. So obviously they're cheaper? A cheaper problem, no?
  6. I know pleanty of folks who are looking at Canada and going "I should probably go there, cheap, better pay etc..." Yes, I've looked too. This is directly related to how Canada is treating the industry. The UK is an extremely expensive place to develop a game in, this country hemorrhages talent like a hemophiliac does blood.
  7. EA have Criterion (who I just spent the night in the pub with, respect to Mr Sullivan considering his big speech at E3), and bright light who do the harry potter stuff. Despite this EA have alot of money invested in Canada, so I can see how tax breaks elsewhere may be a threat. Ubisoft, I don't see why they would be against what they have been asking for. Some folk may say there is no money to give the industry a tax break. I don't buy that personally its merely that the giv doesn't see the benefits that tax breaks would bring, regardless... If the the rumour is true its out of line, atleast as far as I can see, the UK dev indistry could grow into a much larger thing, given the help. Canadian countries have had this help and I think it shows in the quality of software the world sees from that place.
  8. http://kotaku.com/5572362/rumor-big-publis...ernment-scandal LIVID! I'm calling Activision or EA on this one for sure!
  9. Yes, you're incredibly deep and nothing comes close to the standard your massively intelligent brain demands. We get it. LMFAO!
  10. Lets see out in october, they look feature complete, I'd say they're just about to enter the optimization phase.
  11. Cheer up, we'd make a banner for you too. Memento mori. And we'd throw a party.
  12. The problem with new IP's is technology and exposure, its hard to get any exposure at all unless you have alot of marketing bucks... Usually its the first iteration of the technology aswell, so its alot more effort to create something totally new. Plus, when the cow wants milking, milk it... *cough* CoD *cough*.
  13. Meh... Could be worse, could be Morgoth.
  14. ... Not got any words... Just very sad news.
  15. HELLO! Oh and... Because, Yes I agree, and I like you despite the fact that you're premature.
  16. More on this from Eurogamer: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/bodycount-hands-on --- I can see a slight homage or resemblance to Black.. but what distinguished Black from other shooters was the immense intensity of the combat scenes. When you fired your gun, on full auto of course, the screen immediately filled with fire, smoke, debris and twisted bodies flying everywhere! Also, the weapon sounds are still the best I've heard in any game. Black was a really simple shooter at heart, but the presentation made it a real joy just to pull the trigger of any weapon in the game and just watch the chaos that ensued. I think it looks good for a game that early in production (Eurogamer says pre-alpha?), but the one thing I would really work on if I was involved is the explosions. They need to be much, much meatier. I want to see debris flying around, black and yellow smoke, I want to feel the ground shake! I'm pretty sure you're still working on details like that though. By the way, Black was one of my favourite shooters of the last ten years or so. I might have too high hopes for this semi-sequel. http://www.destructoid.com/bodycount-is-al...s--176303.phtml I can't say much past, the VFX lead, worked on Black, as the VFX lead... And that everything is first iteration. It's not even late pre-alpha, we're some distance off alpha.
  17. I used a trackball for years exclusively... It's been a while but I may get one again for work, to help ease wrist strain...
  18. HA! Should check into developer health... I have the reactions of a slouth, and my health, I guess I'm about 160 years old... I have serious issues with stairs.
  19. I watched the internet rip apart 2 years of hard work as if it was toilet paper
