  1. The game does let you choose you companions. You can run with 2 at a time out of 5 available.
  2. The issue isn't with PC. I also play on PC and it is fine. The issue is with consoles.
  3. My wife and I have a bookshelf of guides going back to games like Daggerfall. We love having the guides to look at after we have played the game once or twice. Like looking through a scrapbook of our vacation.
  4. To each their own. I personally liked that they had these things in the game in a natural way. I can understand if you want a refund if it doesn't sit well with your conscience. Just not sure that they will give you a refund. Could always put it up on craigslist for like $5-10 less than retail. Someone will buy it
  5. My wife plays on the Xbox and that was one of the first things that she said as well.
  6. I have taken every flaw, except crippled because the movement penalty was just too severe for my tastes.
  7. This. As someone that codes and designs game spaces I would love this. It would be a blast to allow the players to create added areas, quests, etc to the game.
  8. I agree that they aren't mutually exclusive ideas. However, I understand the sentiment of the person you were quoting. Some people like to figure the game out before jumping into the harder settings. Some people, like you and I, don't mind the challenge and occasional frustration from learning things the hard way. To each their own.
  9. Supernova has lots of saving without mods. I do not have any mods running and the aforementioned saving works. It literally says in the description for Supernova that you can do 3 things only with your ship: fast travel to your ship, sleep in your ship and save in your ship. The rest of saves are when you transition zones.
  10. I had not, but I just googled it. I love the cyberpunk world. Still have my SNES and Genesis Shadowrun cartridges. Will definitely put it on my radar.
  11. I am not going to bash on Beth or FO3. As someone that played FO1 when it was released, hell I played Wasteland on my C64, when I first stepped out of the vault into the Wasteland in FO3 I was blown away. Sure by Obsidian or Black Isle standards the writing wasn't the best. It didn't matter to me. I was my own story in that world. I explored every rats ass in that world and loved every second. However, I have been playing for about 30ish hours on this play through of TOW and have yet to reach the end. The main story may be short, I am not timing it, but the world has so much to do and so many side quests that it is unfair to claim that the game is lacking content (ie is too short). If you run through everything, if you skip every dialog, if you keep choosing the chat option "get to the point" then yea I guess you wasted your time. I judge a game like a movie when it comes to value. A movie is, what, $20 to enjoy it (movie, popcorn...more if you bring someone along) for 1.5 - 2 hours. $60 for 20+++ hours of entertainment seems like a steal to me. Just be happy the cost of games hasn't risen at the same rate that everything else has or you'd be selling your kidneys to play the next hit.
  12. You can refuse any flaw. They happen when something happens too often. like you eat too many times, you jump off a roof too many times and get hurt. My next play through I am going self inflicted iron man mode. No save other than auto, no refusing flaws and no scum saving/loading. Supernova again because, well, I grew up on games like Wizardry: Proving Grounds of the Mad Overlord. Games now are easy mode if not pushed to the highest setting.
  13. If you are playing on PC the "X" is a command you can give your companions. It works especially well when they are set to defensive mode. It orders them to attack. If in passive mode they will only attack the one enemy that you told them to. In defensive mode they will attack that enemy and then continue to attack until the area is cleared. EDIT: If you are about to fight an area and want to (or even can) snipe the enemies. Say taking out 1, 2 or 3 before the others get "wise" to the attack. This command and defensive work wonders together. Set your companions to defensive and then snipe a couple. Survey the area. Snipe one dead, hit your TDD and snipe one or two more. If you have a the ability to stun enemies on hit (3s or 10s) it will allow you to seperate them enough that your companions will wreak havoc. Kill the first, stun 1 or 2 more and then when TDD stops hit x on the closest enemy. Watch them all die in a beautiful scene. I love this game. Companions, when you learn to use them, and the in game mechanics are so much fun.
  14. I would have to agree with you. I have a similar flaw and I have just gotten used to looking up at that bar and I know the icon to look for now. When I see it I react accordingly
  15. I haven't seen that option. However, the gas giants would be difficult to explain. Maybe an orbital station or something, but I don't think it would be plausible to try and terraform a gas giant to be habitable. There being a questionable amount of solid mass with which to work.
  16. I accept your apology. To be fair, if you look over my whole 13 posts, only two referenced another person and both times I was calling out someone that was degrading others. If you consider standing up to arrogance or bullies as throwing out insults then I must, again, disagree with you. I simply call it like I see it. The companions are fine, except for their lack of using cover. That, I think should be fixed. Even the NPCs use cover. I won't be ignoring you. I wont be actively looking for you either. I will continue to discuss the game I enjoy whenever I feel the need to interject my opinion or experience. If you are in that conversation, I will respond if I want and will only throw darts if you are being rude or insulting instead of discussing things in any meaningful way. EDIT: I am curious. "I wish you good luck in missing points all over the forums of any game you play!" What point did I miss? That your companions are dying all of the time? That they run in to the middle of the enemies? Have you asked yourself why this is happening? Have you looked at the weapons that you are equipping them with? Have you changed their AI to "ranged"? Have you swapped out different weapon sets on your companions? Have you changed your tactic on how you initiate combat? Have you invested any points into their stats? Expecting them to work as invincible right out of the box would nullify any reason to play this game as more than a running simulation. Oh wait. You weren't asking them to be invincible. You were asking that they don't die on Supernova. That is invincible. Immortal. I find it strange that someone wants to say "I beat the game on the hardest setting" when they could just play on Hard. Same combat difficulty and your companions won't permadeath. Is it the hunger/thirst/sleep thing that you absolutely need? Well I already asked Obsidian to add that option to other settings (as have many players). So if they do that, you can sleep soundly knowing you have all of the challenge that you wanted and your companions can survive without you learning how to play the game as it was designed.
  17. The binoculars are more of an RP thing for me. I like using them in games even though I almost always have a scoped weapon. Also, in most games the scope sway is more harsh than in TOW. Maybe it is just past habits that make me love having a pair on me. As to the head lamp, I have been in a few areas (very few) where I thought a light would help. It would also help designers with options if there are any DLC or expansions on the horizon.
  18. I agree wholeheartedly! This would be amazing. And just so you know there is a perk in tier 3 (iirc) that does allow you to heal them back up if you act quick enough. It is called "Don't Go Dyin' On Me!" I have used it 3 times this play though to save Parvati. It would be nice if in Iron Man they made flaws non optional and made the skills individually purchased starting at level 1 instead of 50. That would be a mode I would play until the cows came home (or until TOW2).
  19. Every time you transition areas it auto saves. OR OR you could fast travel to your ship from pretty much anywhere at ANY time and save your game. Calling someone names because you don't like your options or are unaware that you had options speaks volumes about you.
  20. I would also love binoculars and a headlamp/flashlight. Good suggestions.
  21. I disagree. It is a challenge added to the game. If you don't want to reload constantly then you need to do something about how you are playing and/or building your character. I play on Supernova and my companions rarely die now. I have to plan how I take on new content that is presented. If you aren't up to the challenge, then perhaps you can play normal for awhile. And to your comment " we all know if someone isn't having a problem, that problem must not exist?" If someone isn't having the problem then it is not a problem with the game, to be fixed as if it were a bug. It is a problem with the way the complaining player is playing the game. Stop trying to infer that others who disagree lack the mental fortitude to understand the grand thoughts coming from your superior mind. They may simply be looking and seeing someone that is trying to put a square peg in a round hole crying to the manufacturer that their product is broken.
  22. Actually Passive and Defensive are very different. In defensive they will act like aggressive as soon as you say "Attack" (hit 'x' on your keyboard)
  23. You don't have to go to crazy with them. It is best IMO to put some points in them at creation and the first few levels. Once you hit ~30-40 Determination they will survive a lot more. I have them at 60 atm, but I am level 21 and most of my main skills are pretty high. Right now they are destroying things. I use SAM (his corrosion attack is crazy good) and Parvati. Giving her a long ranged gun is helpful. I currently have her weilding a Light Machine Gun Mk 2, using plasma rounds and she is crazy. Early on I had her use a grenade launcher because it seemed to keep her out of melee range way more often.
  24. Combat difficulty in Hard and Supernova is the same iirc. I play supernova and my companions are doing fine. They struggled a bit at first, but after changing their settings and equiping them with the right weapons they do just fine now. It took some time and testing, but that is why a player would choose Supernova: they want a challenge, they want to think, they want the occasional death. If they didn't they could play on story mode.
  25. I also find that giving them weapons with scopes keeps them at safer range. A lot less dying. Mod one of the weapons with plasma also seems to help melt things pretty quickly
