Ok I'm Sold!
Ommamar replied to PappyVanWinkle's topic in The Outer Worlds: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Well I have seen them run into my line of fire and on occasion they have decided they liked the cover I had found so they come and shove me out of it. -
Dissapointing ending
Ommamar replied to metalworks's topic in The Outer Worlds: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
You can get different epilogues based of what you had done in the game and who you had sided with. As to them running out of money I believe they did as well as ran out of time projected that wolud let them polish the ending as much as they had the rest of the game. It is also common for games in general to have a poor ending that is a let down. -
Thanks.

My credits had always been on Ellie! Maybe it will be revealed or expanded on in DLCs. -
Things that didn't make sense
Ommamar replied to Ommamar's topic in The Outer Worlds: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
I was watching a stream and saw that there is one on Monarch down in a area by the bridge near Cascadia. It did bring up another interesting not making sense in that it is laying in a pile of haze happily grazing as where the ones in the lab you mentioned and the ones that appear on the ship. Just where does this hay come from? Are these odd space cows able to teleport it to them somehow? -
I think this highlights playing a game on a computer system versus console. I haven't had any issues with font size or anything graphical really on my desktop but I could see if you where trying to play TOW on a console system which is usually set a good distance from the display it could be problematic. Since I haven't heard this complaint on other forums of games that have a multi platform release I would say that TOW needs more tweaking for those systems. Just because it doesn't effect how I play I can't dismiss the complaint as it is valid in certain situations on certain systems.

A few questions
Ommamar replied to LadyLeela's topic in The Outer Worlds: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
You can't complete the display but there is a little closure in finding the person involved with those displays. Not in the base game but maybe something will happen to advance their story line in a DLC or maybe even a mod if that every really becomes a thing. In some endings he is mentioned but I have never seen one where it ended well for him unless he is left in place as the administrator. I am not aware of any path that allows you to publicly announce anything about the retirement program. I don't recall her being directly mentioned in the save Phineas ending but it is fairly long so maybe but if so it would be briefly. There have been some steams of TOW where a connection to the Fallout universe was speculated by both the streamer and the community watching them. I didn't really see it but I could see a nuclear war being a reason that contact from earth ceased. Since everything is winding down and slowly falling to pieces it doesn't make sense that if things continued in the path the endings indicated that the colonists would have the capabilities to travel back to earth. Of course the wild card would be the colonists on the HOPE if they are revived out of hibernation I could see that bolstering the colonies abilities and knowledge. But if I was going to have a criteria for people to spread a colony the focus would be on farmers and low level labors who would know how to maintain equipment but not know how to create the equipment. -
There are two ways to upgrade weapons: tinkering and modding them. Since mods are so plentiful I recommend using them to get a plasma, electric, and corrosive effect on separate weapons as you level up. It is not really necessary as you can certainly blast through with a plasma weapon for the entire game if you choose to but I liked that the different damage types worked better depending on enemies faced. I also liked to put scopes on as many weapons as I can even if I am not running a sniper build. As for armor I liked the backpack, silver tongue, and then a mod for what ever weapon type I was using. As to taking you weapon from 1 to 30 this is possible but really expensive, this can be lessened by upping the science skill but it still gets very expensive. My suggestion is to bracket it using a ten level system. So tinker with a low level weapon until you are level 10 then find one at least level 11 then tinker that up to 20 then 21 up to 35 which I believe is the highest you can currently take equipment too. One thing to keep in mind is that your companion weapons can be tinkered with too so if you want you can make all 3 damage types available in your party. Raising there damage will also make fights easier as well.

The Vicar has always been reported as glitchy. I have had him join my party directly from the church even though he is suppose to go to the ship, I have also had him disappear of the ship only to show up in his church in Edgewater as mentioned. I have also had him perform as he stated he would and found him on the ship. One time I couldn't find him at all after giving him the book until I went to the GroundBreaker where he suddenly appeared at my side talking about the terminal in the security section. I do think the patches helped as I haven't seen any other companion issues crop up. I am curious if this happened before or after the last patch?

The Next Mass Effect?
Ommamar replied to Biff's topic in The Outer Worlds: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I saw the comparison made in several reviews before I bought the game so I can see where Biff got it from. After playing through it multiple times I agree that the comparisons are tenuous, I think the dialogue and skill system are handled better then Mass Effect series. I would of liked a companion control system similar to ME implemented in TOW however. -
Build questions
Ommamar replied to Neofit's topic in The Outer Worlds: Character Builds & Strategies (Spoiler Warning!)
Lock picking and hacking really only make things easier or give access to more loot that is nice to have but not necessary. I have run into keys and terminals that required a skill level of a hundred, the most points I have seen given from items and companions was 25 so to be able to pick the mentioned items you would need a base skill of 75 then have the armor and companion with you. There was always another path to take to complete the objective or get to the area although it is usually longer often times with a touch mob to overcome. I was disappointed in engineering as it didn't seem to add much of anything to the game. -
TOW DLC Confirmed!
Ommamar replied to Ethics Gradient's topic in The Outer Worlds: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I didn't like how the game release was handled but what is the option? "Since we didn't launch on steam no one gets any DLC." Definitely fall under the it is what it is category from my perspective. -
The Outer Worlds, small(ish) crit
Ommamar replied to Supertide's topic in The Outer Worlds: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
It is good you like the game it is always interesting when fans insist a company must do something as they really don't have to, I think it would be wise for them to expand the universe they have started but realize they are under no obligation to do so. According to another thread it seems DLC will be developed I am hoping with not to much haste, Obsidian needs to correct some of the flaws and expand on what is good but it would be best if they took the time to do it right. Beyond continuing the story the development of modding tools would be a great boon to this game. -
TOW DLC Confirmed!
Ommamar replied to Ethics Gradient's topic in The Outer Worlds: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Cool I wonder where they will take the story. I see two logical paths one to follow the thread back to see what happens to cause Earth to be cut off from Halycon, the other being to see what the colonists on the Hope are able to overcome the obstacles remaining at the end of The Outer World. Maybe we will get both as I think both would be good ways to go. I am hoping that as part of DLC they implement a modding tool as I think that would really lengthen the longevity of the game. -

How to gear up companions optimally?
Ommamar replied to Vanch's topic in The Outer Worlds: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
The only effect you can get regarding science weapons is a positive so not taking any perks won't change the base damage on science weapon. I would skip them though as if you don't tinker with them they are quite weak. To get the full benefit without breaking your pocket book really requires investment in science. The only perks to help science only seem to effect your damage with them so the only way to boost them for companions is through tinkering. I have not found any use for skill boosts for companions if I do use them it is things like range damage +5 but I find the ability to survive given by heavy armor more useful then a slight skill boost. -
Companions' Equipment?
Ommamar replied to Hawke64's topic in The Outer Worlds: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Well they seem to get bonuses if you equip a weapon matching what they do for their specials or the weapon type they originally used. The thing is that if you level up damage over all becomes very over powered so they will do fine with any weapon you wish to throw on to them. I do prefer to use the heaviest armor for my companions as I feel the skill bonuses on the lighter armors are wasted on them and the heavier stuff really helps their ability to survive battles. -
Parvati companion bug
Ommamar replied to crackjackx's topic in The Outer Worlds: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
I think the developers thought so as well but doesn't seem to be the case. -
Well balance is an interesting concept for a single player game. I agree the plasma rifle is powerful and will get you through the game if you choose to only use that, there is the option to use other weapons if you choose to though. This reminds me of an old argument about Arcanum there where one or two builds that where very powerful combat wise but so many other ways to build if you chose to. The argument about balance came up then too with a lot of people saying the game was boring or too easy because they only used a few builds considered to be the meta. I would of liked to see the dialogue skills utilized more but I guess the marauders are suppose to be mindless humanoids for some reason. There are a couple times in a play through where you can talk the battle into not happening or get someone on your side, but for the general engagement it does have a shoot them all focus.

Suggestion for Retcon.. Romance Solved!
Ommamar replied to dava4444's topic in The Outer Worlds: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
It is kind of an interesting slant to think of ADA as a wife for the "captain" but it doesn't really work when you take in the interaction ADA has with SAM. Then in one of the cut scenes after you finish the game there is the possibility that Parvati stays one the ships and develops a relationship with ADA. How relationships in games are handled has always been interesting especially when the characters story starts in the middle of the consciousness stream. It is not really mentioned but hinted at that the corporations would of preferred a family unit as colonists as opposed to individuals since it is easier to influence someone who has more then just themselves to worry about. It can be assumed that we the protagonists had family on the HOPE which might be a reason no romance would develop between us and a crew member. I am casually playing Red Dead Redemption one of the quests is from an NPC that is an ex fiance of the protagonist I might of been projecting but I liked how the dialogue hinted at all the things that had happened between two people when she asks for help. It would be really cool in a sequel or a DLC to see how the people on HOPE that I assume you knew where developed with all the past experience at least hinted at. -
Two of same item

Well I used the email I was given to report it but thanks for the link to the OTHER support forum. -
Reading through that all I could think was how much wood could a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood!? You could of gone with a simple sentence like Super Nova is what the baseline difficulty should be. I am doing a play through with a level 1 character on hard difficulty ( I just found SN tedious while not adding much to the challenge) this is after several play throughs. I am finding I need to be a bit more aware of position, use the consumables and be more willing to retreat but so far nothing has been really difficult. So you do have a point! I would really like an option to choose the survival elements instead of it being a part of one difficulty level. Hey OEL_Wolf maybe pin your go to this different forum message in a separate thread, it would greatly lower your work load of going into every thread and saying the same thing.
