New deficit reduction plan
More Medicare shenanigans: http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0611/56467.html I have to say I'm with Obama on this one. Actually both parties are bat **** crazy, fighting over the steering wheel while the car goes over the cliff.

E3 2011
343 is an internal Microsoft developer, nothing to do with Bungie. Bungie is now independent, and working for Activision on a shooter MMO.

E3 2011
I just saw the trailer for Halo:CE, I'm super excited, it's the only true Halo. I want to see what they do with Halo 4, I had enough fun with the series that I'm still interested.

Germany scraps nuke power
They have no way to replace nuclear, so it's all pink unicorn fantasy our president is so fond of as well.

Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim announced
It's not the final name, genius. But you're right, Skyrim will be the RPG of the decade. Yes, that was dense of me. There is an actual game called Codename: Panzers, hence my confusion.

Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim announced
Yeah, I'm sure Codename Kingdoms will be the RPG of the decade. Just the name alone is brilliant!

XBOX360 Demo Impressions
Hint to Square: Next time release the demo on the Memorial day weekend, when there's time to play, not in the middle of the work week.

RANDOM VIDEO GAME NEWS THREAD!
COD is really all about the multiplayer, and you've got to buy the new one every year because all your friends are playing it. It's really brilliant marketing.

Chris Avellone interview?
Sega just can't afford a huge marketing budget. New IP's are a tough sell in any case, and RPG's are somewhat niche in addition. What's there in AP to appeal to a huge mainstream audience?
-
Chris Avellone interview?
Sega's demand wasn't unreasonable, Mass Effect got great reviews with similar shooting mechanics. And the delay was probably because there wasn't much interest in the game (as indicated by pre-orders for one thing), but realistically, there was never going to be. But yes, Sega isn't exactly the tightest run ship in the business, but let's face it, neither is Obsidian.

What I want to know is how morons like that actually manage to survive and procreate?

Bin Laden is dead
Hmm, I can believe you or the former CIA director and Attorney General. Hmm, what to do? This. Though there are precedents of regimes finding this binary choice too restricting, such as in the case of Hitler's Commando Order. From your link: So no, it's not always either a legitimate soldier or a common criminal.
-
Bin Laden is dead
Of course being an enemy combatant is completely different than being a common criminal. If that wasn't the case, you could never kill an enemy combatant unless he's already pointing a gun directly at you. According to Calax, under the Constitution we're apparently required to read the enemy their fifth amendment rights before engaging in battle. The Constitution was not meant to make rules of war, only civilian law.

Bin Laden is dead
Do you understand the difference between a legal prisoner of war, with full rights under the Geneva convention, and a terrorist? Apparently not.

Bin Laden is dead
So because of our sense of decency we should let KSM's plans go forward and let thousands more people die because we don't want to distress the scumbag? Btw, rigorous interrogation such as waterboarding isn't torture, torture is infliction of pain or injury, which is against the rules. It's torture, as defined by US who persecuted Japanese soldiers who waterboarded US marines... and we sentenced them to death by hanging http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2007/11/29/...in3554687.shtml That's bull, Americans were legitimate prisoners of war, thus all they have to tell you is name, rank, and serial number. Forcing them to disclose anything else is a war crime. The terrorists were illegal enemy combatants, and interrogating them was necessary to save innocent civilians who they indiscriminately attack. The two situations aren't equivalent at all, and this isn't the only bone headed thing McCain has said and done, but I voted for him anyway as the lesser of two evils.

So it doesn't say what you're claiming. Quite the opposite, it says KSM gave them little of use before they waterboarded him. Edit: Why did you remove the link? For the record, it's here: http://luxmedia.com.edgesuite.net/aclu/IG_Report.pdf

Bin Laden is dead
Yes, and everything Khalid Sheik Mohammed told them was detrimental. Of course you have to ask, detrimental to whom? Edit: May be you can actually quote where it states that, and the page?

RANDOM VIDEO GAME NEWS THREAD!
I guess SEGA has to find some use for their Aliens license. I predict it'll be awful, like CA's other console projects. In other news, the Battle for Normandy demo is finally out: http://www.battlefront.com/index.php?optio...&Itemid=477 Time to drop your kiddie RTS and try a real wargame!

Deus Ex 3
Because you have no soul? Or just general game-anticipation burnout and disapointment from other releases.... Yeah, burn out for me. I won't believe it until I actually play it.

Bin Laden is dead
It's not really insanity, Jihadists do use children as bombs. And since TSA isn't allowed to racially profile, or make any judgment as to how likely a given person is to be a Jihadist, well, any child is fair game.

new scientific discoveries
OK, 28 nm, not .28. They're never as advanced as I think they are. So the hard disk link says the insulator thickness needs to be a few nanometers, which is deposited, not lithographed. I was thinking only about lithography, that's why I was skeptical. Edit: Btw, that diagram is a little confusing, the green part is actually the gate, the drain is on the other side. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Field-effect_transistor Edit2: Btw, the C60 molecule the graphene link mentions was discovered by one of my chemistry profs.
