  1. No, anyone can't accept that, since 3-4 years is what it takes to make a great game. Of course 3-4 is unacceptable if you only goal is a quick cash grab, which was the case here.
  2. Keeping the money supply stable isn't a big mystery, it simply needs to expand at the same rate as the economy. The tricky part is measuring the economic growth and the money supply itself, so you need data collection and an algorithm to analyze the data and calculate the correct amount of money to generate. You seem to claim the it is the proper role of a central bank to try to manage economic activity, while my assertion is that by trying to provide feedback to a system they don't fully understand and also with an unacceptably long delay they are in fact destabilizing the economy by turning what is supposed to be negative feedback into positive.
  3. We don't need to model economics, the Fed isn't supposed to be doing Soviet style central planning, they're only supposed to keep the money supply stable, so that's all that needs to be modeled. It's the Fed attempting to do the former that gets us into trouble over and over. As far as all rules and no mercy, you'd have to have a provision to override in emergencies, say for 6 months, but the President would have to declare an emergency and Congress approve it, possibly by a super majority.
  4. I've had a simple but brilliant idea, why don't we replace the morons on the Federal Reserve with a computer?
  5. Best post ever. One of the other hilarious cases of electoral fraud was all the mental asylums (which still exist in Russia) voting 100% for United Russia (Putin's party). Nothing suss there hey. They're crazy. Not stupid. Protests appear to be swelling in strength. Whether these succeed or not I think there is cause to be cautiously optimistic about Russia in general. It is a fantastic country, and does not deserve its current status as kleptocracy. Unfortunately a kleptocracy is all it's ever been
  6. It's low for selling 820K copies at whatever price they got
  7. You're all acting like I said we should switch to the gold standard immediately. On the contrary, I said the gold standard isn't viable. The problem is the money supply has to expand at the same rate as the economy grows, which isn't possible with gold. Paper money is fine in theory, the problem is you're depending on spineless, cowardly politicians to make sure it doesn't lose value, which of course doesn't work. Paper money is great for the "eat the cake and have it too" mentality of believing you can get something for nothing, but this inevitably leads to disaster.
  8. All that currency manipulation does is come back to bite you in the ass in the end, as we're seeing right now. It's too bad the gold standard isn't viable for a modern economy.
  9. lol, truly, the ignorance of that woman is stunning. She either gets her info from conspiracy theorists or Deus Ex, much like Krezack does. I don't recall reading any conspiracy theories from Krez. And I tend to jump all over them, so you'd think I would if he had. I was referring to this: Considering Deus Ex is based on conspiracy theories about FEMA setting up concentration camps and so on (I assume he meant HR). Anyway, it was more of a joke, I didn't mean he acutally believes in conspiracy theories, just takes the worst case scenarios based on those a bit too seriously.

  11. Clearly the sky is falling, you should join in the general panic immediately.
  12. Systems engineering just means that they design systems, doesn't it? I guess it sounds better than saying we design widgets. Edit: That pretty much say it all, doesn't it? Management bull**** alert activated.
  13. It means the unwashed masses, as opposed to elite and discerning gamers like us.
  14. Well, I know what I know and you don't. I didn't say you don't know any technology firms run on systems theory, but I welcome any examples you might wish to offer.
  15. That's already been proven beyond all doubt.
  16. Sometimes I really wonder where you obtain the alien logic you use to reach some of your conclusions. Systems theory. But don't let that worry you. It's only used to run every major technology and manufacturing firm in the world. FFS I thought you were studying for an MBA? I don't know any technology firm that's run on systems theory, certainly not any I've worked for. And how exactly does systems theory show that I wouldn't care if someone was hit by lightning? Anyway, I think you have me confused with someone else, I'm not studying for anything, I've been an engineer for 25 years.
  17. Sometimes I really wonder where you obtain the alien logic you use to reach some of your conclusions. And for the record, I didn't say let everyone fail. I specifically said we'll have to bail out our banks once again if it comes to that. But really, how much can they be in for? Even if it's a couple of trillion $, the Fed prints that much before they break for lunch. But trying to help people who are unwilling to help themselves has always been a fool's errand.
  18. I say anyone unwilling to pay their debts should just be allowed to collapse, and once again we'll have to bail out our idiot banks by going even deeper into debt. I want heads to roll though if that happens again. Btw, I always thought EU as a common market was a good idea, but as a political and monetary union it was sheer stupidity, although it was hard to remember that as the Euro was soaring past the dollar.
  19. Why do you keep saying that, Syria and Iran have been close allies for a long time. Most of the Iranian help for the Hezbollah comes though Syria, and Hezbollah has assassinated Rafic Hariri on Syria's behalf.
  20. Hmm, so I wonder if anyone tried to see if these people stick to each other.
  21. May be so. http://www.lifeslittlemysteries.com/magnet...ky-bogdan-1397/ But he's sticky enough to hold a frying pan?
  22. Well, this isn't exactly science: http://news.yahoo.com/serb-cousins-share-s...-100711830.html
  23. So anyone who believes in God is "hopelessly disconnected from reality" ?http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Creationism
  24. People keep saying that, what exactly was so amazing about Shivering Isles? The dungeons were even more tedious than Oblivion, and you couldn't avoid going to one right after another. Agree about Knights of the Nine though.
