  1. they dont care about lag, they care about lower costs of development, no or very low royalties, and monthly fee from the service
  2. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/technology/7052420.stm Consider this: you've essentially got the 4 biggest names in the industry swinging their weight behind the PC market: Blizzard, Valve, and now Electronic Arts and Activision. I would say more that EA is more interested in a platform like OnLive, than PC gaming
  3. Huh? It would be perfectly canon. The Blight has been stopped. Darkspawn returned to the Deep Roads. Now we can focus on things that don't have a design ripped off directly from the LotR movie and D&D. I know, but that is just wishful thinking I bet we get something like Darkspawn Mk. II or more like Mk. X if we count all the dark spawns/presences/evils in all previous Bio games
  4. Remember, when you do this, you will not be able to post on Battle.net forums, after the release of Starcraft 2, and you will be unable to be friended outside the game you are playing... http://greedygoblin.blogspot.com/2010/07/w...out-realid.html don't mind the elitist language, just do the steps he depicts, and you'll be safe from leak of your real name, unless you install some malware infested addon happy and safe gaming
  5. yes yes next time i post "and yes, i do think it is "good fight" because he just pointed out how any RANDOM real name can be easily abused in a few minutes, thus showing the biggest flaw of this idea..." so even you will spot the difference
  6. Oh noes such a big mistake that i have made... I am ashamed, you got me there... now i have to go hide away from public and never come back to the light of the sun... Arrivederci cruel world, i have failed you!!!
  7. Hopefully without darkspawns. But you know, then they would go away from their canon, and many of the fans of great evil darkness in their games would get heart attack
  8. And you still do not get, that this whole thread is not only about you as a person, but about a people in general, and you know, that when speaking about many people in general, people are often using the word "you" as a plural
  9. Er, it does, because the only way one is going to get my personal data is by breaking into a government DB. Which you can't do with just "targeted datamining". It's pretty funny that you made these inane claims without having any idea about what my line of work is or how security conscious I am with regards to my personal data. But hey, you guaranteed it, so it must be true! But hey, you guaranteed that "the only way one is going to get my personal data is by breaking into a government DB". So it must be true as well \o/
  10. I think the only one person whou should read carefully my posts, is you in no way the thing i said equals to the thing you said And if it equals in your mind, then, you sir, are in need the help of some professional which can improve your reading comprehension
  11. can you please show me where i posted bull****, and not some IMAGINATION of my words which you formed from my REAL words, based on your elite trolling skills? and you know you are breaking the laws, only when you get caught... even now there is big security hole in blizzard's battle.net and i do not need to be as you say chines haxor stealing data from government... all i need is to install a malicious WoW addon *hugs and kisses*
  12. If you are still playing WoW or have battle.net account, and you have serious issues about RealID, here is the way how to easily disable your RealID from appearing in any of the Activision - Blizzard games and networks available to other people... http://greedygoblin.blogspot.com/2010/07/w...out-realid.html
  13. yes you are, i never said half of the things you put in my mouth in yuor last post and i do not need to have any connection to any politician, secret service, police, E.T or Skynet, to get all the stuff i posted from real name, if you or anyone who will post his real name on the internet, has any property in my country, because ownership of any property is accessible in my country as a free service to population and many of the other countries have same free service aswell and to get all other vital information about you, all i need to pay some person who thinks, that he is underpaid, who works for government live in your "safe" bubble and stop harassing other peoples serious issues about possible security risks connected with revelation of their real name in some public forums full of retarded asshats, like WoW forum is...
  14. And mr. too elite for us, here is the easiest way how to get most of your private information, without you ever writing anything about you on internet... Just from your real name and location (if it is also requirement to link with realID)...
  15. Wow, your logic is... wow. Are you just trolling me or...? Seriously, explain to me in great detail how 1, 2 or n where n ∈ N is equivalent to "any/all", because I can't seem to solve that one on my own. My logic is exactly the same as yours, just on opposite spectrum you are acting, like it is nothing when 2 people get harrased because they posted their real name on gaming forums, and i am doing the exact opposite, making it doom... your rhetoric is same as rhetoric of RIAA, my rhetoric is same as swedish pirate party.. just to make you sound ridiculous, like you realy are The truth is in middle as always... not all people who give up their name will be harrased by idiots and asshats, but the people who will be harrassed, might be suffering from it... from basic stuff like racist or homophobia emails in their account to stealing their identity and cleaning their bank account!!! and in this specific case n ∈ N is equivalent to "any/all", because 2 people revealed their identities, and two people got harrassed... and two people out of two people is in other words all people out of the presented statistical sample
  16. Exactly. It's up to each person to protect their own privacy. This much should be obvious, no? *WOOOSH* So, that makes two names. If I'm doing my math right, then according to you, 2 = ∞, right? Nope, but so far 2 people posted their real names on Blizz forums... so 2 out of 2 is 100% success of abusement Now do your math
  17. Yes, but it doesn't matter because then I could hire a bunch of Lithuanian hitmen to take them out, so my secret involvement with the Zionist-communist global conspiracy to sap and impurify all of our precious bodily fluids remains secret!!!1 Divulging private information, even if said information is available elsewhere, without the owner's consent, can be a crime, depending on many things, jurisdiction among them. I'd recommend you look it up before you try anything of the sort. Actually, he showed just how ONE real name can be abused. I'd like to see how exactly you jump from that to your assertion that "any name can be easily abused in a few minutes". No, we aren't accepting lithuanian hitmen, asian leet haxors or ninja pirates as evidence. And keep the fearmongering to a minimum, if at all possible. I posted another example of another name already abused on top of page 8 of this thread
  18. Intent also plays a factor, there's a recent case in VA where someone was found guilty for posting information because he also encouraged people to do harm (in fact a gas line was cut under the house). As pointed out, the intent so far is not clear, but depending on the details it could have been illegal to post that information. ok i am not very good with various laws in different countries, but i read all the pages of the discussion (at the time i read it there were 5 pages of discussion), and i do not recall reading anywhere, that the OP did encourage stalking or harassing the person... then in my eyes he did not anything illegal... but as i said, i am not law expert
  19. To quote another conversation I had about this: "Yes, I agree that a better demonstration could have been made (if I were him I would have asked for a random volunteer that way there's no impetus to troll and the person consented for their information to be posted - or even better yet the guy could have data-mined himself). The way things are currently I think that the blog post, and the comments that provide more information, should be purged and possible legal action taken if it is found that the intent was to harass. The last part is going to be hard unless there is a clear "go forth and cause mayhem for this dude named X" type command and I'm not seeing it on the initial post (I've not read all the comments, and I'm not planing to, but something might be there). However I have no sympathy for those harassing and hope that they're held accountable for their actions." And yes i could agree with this person oppinion, BUT... the original poster did nothing illegal, he just googled for publicly available information, and posted them on a forum. The people who are doing the harassment of the person, based upon the information they got from internet are doing illegal stuff... That's a big difference...
  20. to further prove my point, i am quoting one post from ArsTechnica forums... edit: The kids name was not printed in any gaming manual btw...
  21. I wouldn't, and that's why i do not post on any forums under my real name... I do not want any asshat to datamine all information about me which can be obtained by legal means and post it there, here or anywhere else on TEH INTERNETZ!!11ONE Are you condoning and supporting the actions of the guy that did? (I also didn't ask you, but hey, since you've volunteered). Be honest (even though it's the internet and you can just make **** up as you want): What are your thoughts about the guy sharing the information about the Blizzard Employee? Do you feel vindicated like he is "fighting the good fight?" Because you can just as easily get this guy's name from the instruction manual. But I have a feeling it'd be different if THAT is where someone found his name.... Wouldn't it? He did not done anything illegal, he just searched through publicly available information, based on the Real Name posted on the gaming forums. Therefore as i said, i never use my real name on any gaming forums... You can wreak havoc without breaking any law, and no one will ever try or force you to stop, therefore i think the RealID requirement for gaming forum posting is one of the most retarded moves in gaming industry, which is even beating the Ubisoft newest DRM by big margin. edit: and yes, i do think it is "good fight" because he just pointed out how any real name can be easily abused in a few minutes, thus showing the biggest flaw of this idea... That his name is available in the gaming manual is irrelevant to this discussion.
  22. I wouldn't, and that's why i do not post on any forums under my real name... I do not want any asshat to datamine all information about me which can be obtained by legal means and post it there, here or anywhere else on TEH INTERNETZ!!11ONE
  23. Ok, i found this video linked to one of the discussion about realID I do not know why, but I can easily imagine few people being able to do the same ****
  24. And I guarantee you that some russian or chinese teenager seeking a way to get bonus to his pocket money, would easily get all your information from the "secure" web with proper targeted datamining, if he thought you are worth the trouble...
  25. You're joking, right?
