High end graphics are killing the games industry
Mamoulian War replied to Bokishi's topic in Computer and Console
OOOKAAAAY Just found out this article... http://www.destructoid.com/blogs/CaimDark/square-enix-expected-tomb-raider-to-sell-nearly-7-million-copies-in-4-weeks-251130.phtml Is that stuff the execs at SE are smoking even legal??? This by Jim Sterling is a very similar to what am I thinking now about some people leading stuff... Dark Souls sold 2 mils and people making it were happy as a 2 year olds getting a candy and are making another sequel, while Capcom sold 5 millions of Resident Evil 6 and is crying a river, that it underperformed... http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/jimquisition/7121-Dark-Souls-and-Dark-Sales Once again... if that stuff the guys are smoking is legal in EU, I'd definitely would like to have a sample for testing *winks* -

High end graphics are killing the games industry
Mamoulian War replied to Bokishi's topic in Computer and Console
I will be buying the HD edition myself, my PS2 is atm gathering dust most of the time, so it would be good money spent on my convenience EDIT: AAAAnd as a bonus factor, both HD versions would include content which was previously Japanese only, and hopefully they add little bit more... I must say, I am more excited to this than to news about FFvXIII... And yes the teaser has made me little bit angry... "We are announcing that there will be an announcement on E3" BUT I am willing to bet, that FFvXIII will be presented at E3 as FFXV I will eat whole days only cereals, if I am mistaken, who is willing to participate? -

Maybe if they would be producing more in-house games for consoles, they would be even deeper in red numbers, because of development costs... Their most successful game this generation was Dragon Quest IX for Nintendo DS... And IMO that is one of the reasons, why they shifted more towards handhelds instead of big inhouse AAA... -
That defense didn't work for guys that made Napster and ran sites like the pirate bay. But that excuse/defense work very well for american weapon industry, isn't it?

Followed by Torment with a Vengeance, Play Free or Torment, and A Good Day to Torment. If nothing else, the visuals would be spectacular... and THREEDEE! Not as spectacular as Torment by Michael Bay!!!

Because talking over or requesting things which somebody else already answered two or three post above, is the 2nd most favourite thing to do on teh Interwebz

The prices listed are another thing, but the creator of the software should not be blamed for ill-behaviour of his customers...

You're picking and choosing lower-tier result words to suit your position, neither of those comes up as the "best" match in GT. And as has been pointed out, more scholarly sources are even less cooperative. And??? Did you by any chance noticed the " :D " emoticon at the end ? Did I anywhere state that my **** pulled right out of my ass just for fun is 100% true and only possible translation of the Numenera name??? *sighs* some people need to learn to take internet less serious...

According to laws of many countries in the world. If you posses the original cartridge of a console game, you are legally allowed to download ROMs from anywhere in the internet world... so he is not doing anything illegal... He is also stating it in his kickstarter...

High end graphics are killing the games industry

I prefer simpler graphics which utilizes full potential of full HD TVs over topnotch graphics which consist only of gray and brown shades... Unfortunately most of the western companies fail at this... I do not play FPS games, but only game which I liked graphics wise last few years was FarCry 3... And I liked the usage of colors in Killzone for PS4... I will not buy this game, because this gameplay does not interest me, but I did kind of liked the art in the game... -
Interesting piece of software AI solving classic NES games http://arstechnica.com/gaming/2013/04/this-ai-solves-super-mario-bros-and-other-classic-nes-games/

And what about Divine Era? This could give some sense to me as well

Is not the something like "Save Memory State" function viable for PC gaming as it is viable for console emulators?
-
google translate says Numen = god, Era = goddess :D

It's same and different at same time, hard to explain... but atm playing mostly Pathfinder Society Scenarios and the one I have chosen so far, have mostly enemies not very common in the games I played before... might change sooner or later...

I do not know, I never played 3.5 because it was ridiculously expensive in Slovakia, but after I started to play this with 4 of my friends, who never played something like this before (CPRGs not counting), most of them fell in love with the game and brought 2 more people to the table... It is not the same but very similar, and melee classes are more powerful at higher levels compared to 3.5... That is all I can tell about it after DMing it for 4 months...

Maybe you are right, but I do not believe my mail to Microsoft would had been read by the responsible person for this deal... HBS is smaller company, so there is bigger chance, the right people will see it...
-
Why is that? You can still back the game and get a DRM free version, as well as the expansion, all patches, and even mods. By doing so you aren't supporting DRM in any way, quite the opposite, you are directly supporting the developer and allowing them to circumvent what Microsoft really wants them to do. Because HBS is now only offering Pre-Orders and not anything like slacker-backer stuff... I will not risk my 75USD for the collector's edition I wanted, just to find out, that it will be Steam only... I have also written an email directly to HBS informing them about my dissatisfaction and lost sale... EDIT: @Humanoid... It was not stated in pre-orders few weeks ago, that you are getting only Steam key... Fortunately for me, I spent to much money on tabletop gaming in March, so I decided to wait for my next paycheck... I ended up very disappointed, but at least I saved 75USD...
-
Actually the update makes it pretty clear that only backers will receive non-DRM copies, as Microsoft seems to be making an exception for them. edit: They also say all preorders get the Steam version, not the DRM free one. If that is the case, unfortunately no sale for HBS :/ I am ****ing dissapointed...

Now I hate you, because you brought me back very traumatic memories from my younger age... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bk7Sxpmr7wI Numa, numa iei at you back

No answer in FAQ about non-backer ability to buy non-DRM version :/

Playing with Excel... Trying to make a report for my boss... The gameplay is boring and repetitive, but very long... Man I sometimes wish I was careless teenager again :-/
-
I don't give a **** about MS... And cloud is not exactly what a man understands under the term "add-on"...

Why to make an extra hassle with browsing suspicious websites, when there are other developers willing to sell you DRM free option available out of the box? I am just rewarding with my purchases companies who offer me hassle-less entertainment... Free market at work
