Shadowrun Returns
Not fair... same price inferior product :/ I really loved the alpha footage, and the option to pay full price for a DRM-free game without any possibility to buy future content for the game feels to me as a kick in the nuts for many backers Changing the wording from DRM-free to Steam distributed, with the option of one-time-only Berlin update of your DRM-free version for backers so close to the release, just makes me less-likely funding any future kickstarter projects... 4.30 am here... CBA to rewrite all the wording in proper english... hopefully you get what I mean after reading the random words...

Shadowrun Returns
Now I am happy that I have waited with my preorder... wanted the collector's edition, but I can wait few more months if it will be available on GoG.com as well or not... If not, I just wait for the Wasteland 2, which hopefully will not make the same stunt like HBS...

If you have problems with remembering what is happening in the long games, try to do the same thing most of us did 20 years ago - playing with notepad and writing small notes, some games have now even editable in-game logs. It works like a charm, and it helps more and more the older you are

EA lives in a different reality
Yup, but I was not comparing it to Sim City anyway, I was just answering your question with the first game, which came to my mind No need to bash EA further, they are doing a good job by themselves

EA lives in a different reality
Yes it is multiplayer, but the question was about online only game, not online only SP game AAAAnd comparing it with CS is wrong, because CS can be played offline, because you can play solo with bots, which is not case for TF2 AFAIK... (correct me if I am wrong)... And I have seen lot of MP only games played offline at some LAN parties as well, because some guys were bright enough to cut-off the online requirements of these games with a Razor or two and brought handmade dedicated server

You'll be an old fart in only 7 more years? Wouldn't that mean you're already an old fart? Just admit it.

Steam Sux! andor Rox!
I am using ADSL myself as well, max 5Mbps, but unlimited downloads... though the only things which I am downloading are emails and patches... so my monthly usage is somewhere between 500MB and 10GB depending... with median being somewhere around 1GB... I was thinking about faster connection, but I would really not be able to use it to the fullest, so it would be to me just wasted money... I am just sticking to relatively slow option (we have available up to 100Mbps for not very steep prices in my city, and it is possible to share the connection between neighbours, if they are not complete morons )...

It's strange to expect that from a single-player FPS without replaying the game at least once. The reason you get dozens more hours out of an RPG is because they're slower and thicker. Not always to their credit (a lot of that slowness can be due to padding with fetch quests, collecting x number of y quests, etc., why I still haven't finished chapter 1 of the Witcher, it's just so full of boring MMO quests and even more boring gameplay.) And a tabletop RPG isn't even an acceptable comparison, here. Apples and oranges, and all that. Last FPS which I played and really enjoyed was Quake 2, which did have much longer first playthrough than 12 hours, but I still had to play it on hardest difficulty to have some fun... So sorry to expect the same from other similar games... And I was not comparing computer games with tabletop games... I was just simply stating a fact, that because computer games did become short and cheap storywise, I completely changed my focus on home entertainment... Year or two ago my average spending was 250 monthly on computers and 5-10 on tabletop... now it is completely different...

That really depends on how many hours were put in over those 2 days. If the game really is at the 15-20 hour mark, that's a pretty reasonable amount of cost per hour. Maybe it is strange, but I expect to get at least 30 hours of entertainment for a full price... the price does not matter for me... I am spending currently about 150-200 EUR/month on home entertainment... mostly on Patfhinder RPG products though...

Although I have enjoyed FFXIII and XIII-2 (they were not the best stuff, but had enough fun playing them, and that's what counts, right?) I fully agree with you on this one, and Square Enix, is not the only one who should follow this advice...
