If you can enjoy japanese style, I can only recommend you Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky 1, 2, 3 and Trails of Cold Steel. All with turn-based combat, and all available on GoG. I can also highly recommend Legend of Grimmrock 1, 2. Also Starcrawlers, though the current version has gamebreaking bug, on which the developer is working on. So as soon he releases patch 1.4, go for it, but save your money for now. Also Divinity: Original Sin 1, 2, maybe Lords of Xulima, and Dead State, which is pretty awesome zombie RPG crossed with base management.

I don't know man, ever since you posted it, the issue gets kinda tossed around in my head and, at the end of the day, I kinda feel like EA is doing the right thing, just for entirely wrong reasons? I mean, you're looking at the problem from a perspective of a gamer that would play MP games to overcome challenge, and to such player, even matchmaking is totally the best experience he can get. What we're talking here tho, games by EA, Activision or similar, they're not designed for that kind of player. Imagine you're the kind of player who buys two games per year to casually play MP matches with his pals and expects them to last him as long as possible just to have some fun on the mic while calling everyone wankers. Wouldn't said game remaining engaging for a longer time be a good thing for such a player? I don't really think casual shooty bang bang players give a crap about fairness, and design of such games reflected that for the longest time (short time to kill, kill streaks etc.) - on top of it, seemingly all AAA shooters that involved a higher skill ceiling than their peers failed. It's easy to make that argument when you pick arbitrary videogames, point at them and say "Those games are modern." Those indie gems are modern games too tho (and would stand no chance of success back in the day when having a distributor was almost necessary to get any kind of market penetration... Hehehe, penetration.) and omitting modern games like creations of Arkane - which are systematically much more advanced than most older games while offering mechanical interactions which were simply not possible with older tech. Nowadays, we have a fantastic selection of games of various complexity, majority of them not challenging player to 'find out how to play them' (in other words, pressing random buttons on the keyboard, hoping it'll do something - that's not meaningful and smart gameplay, that's waste of time.) Remember, back 'then' (pre-2000), videogames were a niche hobby, so 'mainstream' titles were targeted at that niche audience. Games are now mainstream, but there are still games coming out targeting said niche audience. As I said. The Indy games are an exception, because most of them, which have won me over, are using the right balance of old school design, with modern gameplay. And I have to say I enjoy it much much more even though some of them are not very challenging difficulty wise, but they still force you to use your brain. AAA games are now completely lost to me (btw, I do not count games as Dishonored or Prey as AAA. They do not need such a big budget, and mostly give you a lot of options how to turn off the handholding stuff). FFXV was the last straw for me.

That could work, "Games people say that are great, but they are all wrong" Just look again at that Top 100. It's the epitome of that. I know you like all the games which made it there, but its clear, that you all are wrong!

Well tbh, hard to do any worst games list. If you know the game is ****, youbwill not bother to get it even for free, but if you never played it, you cannot objectively put it on the list, because you know it only from hearsay. *shrugs*

Wow, I remember the Bruce Lee game you put on your list. One of my first games, I have ever played. On Atari 800XL. Unfortunatelly, I was not able to finish it, because I have always died at the same spot, and I was not able to overcome it

GTA is not a racing game

There are only three games where I was tear-strucked Final Fantasy VII and death of Aerith. I was teenager at that time, and have pretty enjoyed her story in the game, and then she was gone. I was shocked! The second one was ending of Final Fantasy X. It was soooooo sad at the time, when I have finished it for the first time. *wipes away tears* And the last one was pretty recent Tales of Berseria. But I will not spoil anything, because it is still pretty new game. On the other hand, SoulCalibur V made me pretty emotional, when I was going for the Platinum Trophy. The hardest difficulty bots required for the trophy made me go so much berserk few times, that I had to put few pillows around my gaming seat, so I would not smash my controllers to pieces :D

Well to the defense of Fallout games. I do not think, that theirs setting is not very friendly towards elderly people, so max 35 years requirement is pretty realistic

GTA, together with Worms and Mario Kart, gave me the most fun I ever had in multiplayer. In the literal laughing out loud sense of the word. Oh... I completely forgotten about Worms: Armageddon... we were playing that with my friends all the time when I was teen That should deserved mention on my list...

Same can be said about Space Sims. I expected some Wing Commander or Freespace 2 on the list, but looks like I am the only one who voted for WC Also I put Gran Turismo 2 on my list, so I made my part in this matter

Some food for your thoughts From my PoV, he says a lot of stuff, why I still prefer to play older over newer games. with the exceptions of few Indy gems. It's not nostalgia, the older games just forced you to use your brain more often. And the feeling which you got, when you did overcome some riddle or hard quest or boss, was much more rewarding than in today's openworld checkbox simulators with cutscenes.

Would not be so sure about OW future after all the Destiny 2 bull**** and all the Matchmaking patents registered by Activision to raise the player spending

Well, two have: IV at #81, and Tactics at #60. On my behalf I admit I'm quite glad since I've never been a fan of the saga. Oh, must have missed the number VI, and FFT is good game but by no means a true Final Fantasy IMO *runs away from the angry pitchfork wielding mob* And consider this one as obligatory "Your list is complete, utter bull-manure and sucks walrus balls, without Final Fantasy being in top 10" post. Because nobody has posted how much your list sucks yet and I just could not bear the thought, that this would be the first ever Top100, without such a post posted within few hours after making it public Just look on the first three posts. Two of them are saying how cool your list is... It's so wrong on so many levels, that it broke whole internet for few minutes!!!!!

Yup, despite a lot of people here are having consoles as well, including me, this board is heavily PC-centric, which is absolutely no surprise to me. The only one surprise to me is, that no Final Fantasy made onto top 100.
