  1. I once found out I was related to the god Bhaal himself! ...but then I found out so were a million other peeps, so it wasn't so thrilling. Seriously though I have shaken hands with a couple of celebrities - Terry pratchett (Discworld author), Steve Waugh (Australian cricket captain) and one of my ex-girlfriends had had an affair with a very prominent and very married Australian politician before she met me, if that counts (hey - both me and the pollie were in the same place at various times!).
  2. Let's just hope he's not planning to re-release the Star Wars Holiday Special! Now that made "Ewoks" look like Citizen Kane.
  3. So what? You can't even say the US Vice-president's name in this forum: **** Cheney. Maybe the Bio auto-banner is now registered to ban all mention of the word "Gromnir" and that's where the confusion lies?
  4. That still doesn't explain how Hogan is still going strong...by all accounts he was one of the worst abusers of steroids out there in the 80s.
  5. Is it just me but are all the late great WWFers dropping like flies: Rick Rude, Mr Perfect, British Bulldog, LOD Hawk, and now Big Bossman. Particularly annoying is how these guys crash and burn and Hogan will probably live forever...
  6. The problem with KOTOR on ATI cards has only existed since the release of the 4.3 catalysts. Before then there were no problems at all with ATI cards and KOTOR, so don't blame Bio - it's ATIs crappy drivers that have been at fault. This is a consistent problem with ATI, in that their latest drivers sometimes "break" older games. For instance this year I was playing KOTOR, Thief 3 and BF:Vietnam all around the same time on my PC, but to get all to work properly I needed to have cat 4.2 for KOTOR, cat 4.4 for Thief 3 and cat 4.6 for BF:Vietnam. Now I don't know about you but I don't have the time to be reverting to old drivers and back again every time I want to play a particular game. One reason I am considering going back to Nvidia again when I get my next card.
  7. Four Words: Star Wars Holiday Special These words alone are enough to send me screaming to the hills at the thought of a SW TV show.
  8. Let me guess - those of us that already have Windows 32bit will have to pay for Windows 64bit?
  9. Not at all - if you never get a little responsibility how can you mature? I do think that you should have had at least a chance to vote *once* before they ship you off to war though. Actually I could be wrong but I think in Australia they gave soliders serving in the Vietnam war under the age of 18 the right to vote on the basis that it wasn't right for the government to expect you to die when you had no say in the make-up of said government.
  10. I'll probably stay away - at least from reading the inevitable "spoilers" board. I managed to do that for KOTOR and thus got to enjoy "that twist" in game.
  11. True but even at 18 young people are not fully mature and aware of the full implications of what joining the army means as say, a 30 year old adult is. At 18 a lot of young men for example feel "indestructable" which is why the highest percentage of fatal road accidents is amongst teenage men - they simply find it impossible to imagine they could die. This is the same reason army recruitment targets school leavers for example - they don't see the danger, only the excitement. So physically, they may be adults, but mentally, perhaps still kids.
  12. Reading between the lines of Feargus' comments: Emperor Gates used force persuasion on Darth Lucas who consequently encouraged Moff Urquart to "redouble his efforts" to get the X-Box version "fully armed and operational" by December so that all of the minions in the evil Empire would have something to celebrate at Christmas, little thinking that this will only encourage PC rebels everywhere to further sedition.
  13. I don't know if I approve of all of Moore's "journalistic techniques" but it was pretty funny to see him go up to guys who were quite happy to send lots of other people's children to Iraq but when he suggested they send their own the look was like : "Are you mad? No sane person would want their kids there!". :D
  14. I'm sure someone more versed in EU lore will correct me but given that Leia is refered to as Princess Leia Organa I presume she is adopted by Bail Organa (played by Jimmy Smits in Episode 2) and whoever his spouse is. As to why the mother always looks sad - wouldn't you be sad if you lived in a free democratic galaxy only for some power-mad Sith to turn it into a dictatorship and probably butcher a lot of your friends and associates?
  15. ...yes but what's the actual total number? 1, if Michael Moore is to be believed. In any case, I'm not against some form of mandatory military/civil service (they do it here in Germany and you can choose between the two) but I am against people being drafted to die in a completely senseless and unnecessary war of aggression (ie. Iraq IMHO), although if a country was under threat of imminent invasion by a hostile power, that's a different story.
  16. Typical - send a bunch of guys who may not even had a chance to vote once off to die while the idiots that started the whole mess sit safely back at home with their own kids who all conveniently happen to have a "note from doctor". Simple solution - if a politician wants a war he has to go in leading the first wave. It worked for Alexander the Great so why doesn't Bush give it a whirl?
  17. 22" Mitsubishi Diamondtron Monitor. 1024x768@85Hz :D Guess I'm waiting till February.
  18. Yet another reason to join the darkside...you get to have sex and not feel guilt-ridden angst!
  19. I was in the dentists's chair getting drilled on 9/11, and of course the guy had a TV on and he kept pausing to look at the screen (with the drill still whirling in my mouth) and saying "look at those poor bastards". I was lucky the terror attack in the US didn't inflict grevious dental harm in me in Australia!
  20. Difficult question... For me Pepsi is better if I'm drinking soft drinks every day, but if I haven't had a soft drink for a week, nothing beats a coke.
  21. Basically A lot of the Obsidian staff come from Black Isle, a former division of Interplay (a now effectively defunct developer/publisher). Interplay published the first few Bioware games - Shattered Steel, Baldur's Gate I & II, MDK2 and were going to publish NWN until there was a falling out between the developer (Bio) and the publisher (Interplay) over unpaid royalties. However it seems that the people in the Black Isle division itself (as opposed to Interplay as a whole) had quite a good relationship with Bioware, because the ex-Black Isle management have managed to nab two high profile sequels after they were recommended to publishers by Bioware, who had no personal interest in churning out more licenced sequels. Both of Obsidian's announced games will be based on tech developed and supported by Bioware. Seems to be a case of I'll rub your back, you rub mine.
  22. I look just like Brad Pitt...in the dark...to someone with no sense of touch...or smell.
  23. I wish he hadn't made quite so many stereotypical "bad guy" laughs...he just sounded loopy - not evil. Plus the costume didn't do much for me. He looked like a bad super villain from the 50s.
  24. Aussie! Aussie! Aussie! Oi! Oi! Oi! Although I'm married to a European and thus living in Germany at the moment, picking up some "culture".
  25. The Sith guy that tested you on Korriban (Master Uther?) was by far the best - excellent voice acting and evil looking appearance. Malak's vaguely effiminate costume and ridiculous B-movie Villain laughing didn't do much for me.
