  1. If you are an Xbox live customer then you are already registered if I remember my Microsoft arcana correctly.
  2. Eurogamer gave it 5/10: I'll probably buy it later unless I hear truly horrid things about it.
  3. +1 I love that steam allows me to buy games at late hours. Isn't this a repeat discussion, word for word, anyway? I seem to remember some of these arguments.
  4. Which examples? I'm serious when I'm saying that I can't remember anytime that computers were a match unless I was vastly outnumbered and completely alone. @Llyr You really don't need to be an RTS veteran to beat an AI in most RTS games. Arena shooters has been like that for a while as well. Edit: Oh and I agree with Morgoth in that 3vs3 is incredible amounts of fun. I'm not even sure if I'm going to be spending much time in 1 vs. 1.
  5. The San Francisco Chronicle has named Alpha Protocol one of its 9 games to look for in 2009. Apparently some people know about it. This is surprising to me since newspaper games writers, in my experience usually have pretty rubbish taste.
  6. haven't had much of a marketing push either. I'm positive that people will start caring once Sega put their marketing engine into overdrive.
  7. When have RTS AIs been tough for anyone who have played a decent amount of RTS games before? They probably just put the amount of extra resources that the AI gets too low.
  8. You are aware that people are trying to make progress on the CAP, right? It always strikes me as extremely funny when people try to paint the EU as a beurocratic beaurocratic that is always and only moving in the wrong direction. I guess a lack of pessimism is a bit too much to expect from this forum.
  9. You only have a single HQ in MP and you upgrade it. Singeplayer is the part that is supposed to have a complete lack of basebuilding. There is an incredible amount of micromanegement and it is where the game really shines. And yes you do have fewer MANZ! than in the previous one, which is good. My short impression of DoW2 is that it is much more focused than the previous one and very much an RTS for getting your blood pumping. You should stay away if Supreme Commander is your favourite RTS. The intro movie is also better than the DoW1 movie, which is to say really really good. Longer MP impressions courtesy of Rock, Paper, Shotgun.
  10. I realize that. My comment was about how the fun from puzzlequest games always seemed to me that they were bigger and better flash games, which doesn't make sense to me. Essentially it seems to run counter to what I see as the charm of flash games, that they're not trying to be more than just a few minutes to an hour of harmless fun. It is mostly a perception/opinion issue as I remarked upon before. If your remark is about the glitchiness not necesarily being in the final game, then I realize that, and was merely remarking about how poor the flash demo was.
  11. This game is incredibly glitchy. I also don't see why anyone would pay for something that is essentially a souped up flash game, opinions I guess.
  12. Those two rarely go together.
  13. You are aware that you're talking about a president that have been described as pragmatic and seeking compromises, right?
  14. In case people are confused still, I responded to this: Preview tricked me by telling me there wasn't any replies yet. I'm especially interested in whether Obama will be able to repeal some of bushes post 9/11 laws without setting himself up for another terrorist attack disgracing him irregardless of whether the laws could have helped or not. Before the cynical Americans come and bit me in the ass, I'm not hoping that he will immediately stop listening in on peoples calls or anything, but rather that he starts something so America doesn't get complacent with them. I strongly dislike such laws and feel that they are as inhibitive to a people as even the worst examples of socialist economics. I was also annoyed by the TV commentators speaking over certain parts of the ceremony and people booing at GWB, I didn't like him either, but is it too much to expect people to be a bit classy and not be offensive on such an occasion?
  15. Two times. I think the guy who read it up fluffed the first line and then Obama forgot the second line halfway through. I liked his speech and if it is a sign of things to come then he will be an overall good president.
  16. @Tigranes My problem with the NWN2 camera (I had no problems with the NWN camera, mostly because it lacked a party) was that I didn't feel like I could get all the info from the visuals with the original camera, and it didn't matter how I positioned it. Once MotB came out I could always find some way to position it so that it didn't bother me. I had the same problem in Hinterland (where you couldn't move the camera at all). Bad cameras give me a claustrophobic feeling and can ruin the game entirely.
  17. What is wrong with the camera? I thought it worked well after the MotB addition of strategy mode, I think that was what I used anyhow. It had good visibility of everything and was easy to control. I don't remember encountering this.
  18. Thought I'd post some stuff one the Soulstorm beta that I expect to also count for the normal pleb beta:
  19. This is probably what I'm gonna get next if I can't hold out until DoW2s release. I too was hoping for something else from GTA4 than what they've embraced now and SR2 will hopefully deliver that. I tried so hard to make Nico look interesting in GTA4 and he always just looked like a git.
  20. Really? I really loved some of the touches. What did you think was fizzling out? Pope said it decently: The problem was probably less with not destroying the wall and more on the incessant egging on instead of focusing on something that could be resolved better. I'm not arguing that there weren't good parts, just that it let down as a whole. Still stands as Obsidians finest work. That won't work. They're similar games but not that similar.
  21. The singeplayer should be significantly different than the Dark Crusade one. I have Soulstorm so I'll get to be lame and lament slow download speeds on steam in about 4 hours. Yay me!
  22. What? Good endings? I agree that MotB was good but I never found the ending up to par with the rest. To me it mostly fizzled out. Anyway I've bought a NDS recently and have been playing the two most recent games in the Advance Wars series and find them highly enjoyable if a bit too japanese. I can't really complain as I knew from the start that I don't mesh well with modern Japanese pop culture. I'll also highly recomend them to anyone who enjoy tactial turnbased strategy so long as the Japan disclaimer is kept in mind. Though the people around here who care probably already knows about them. Anyone here who can make NDS strategy suggestions?
  23. Because Hamas has lately only had Terror as an option for engaging Israel? If you're asking why they're continuing then the answer is that they're extremists and have no other choice in how to proceed in trying to attain their goal.
  24. *Puts on frivolous game arguments hat* in response to a many day old argument. @Krezack I've always hated all this talk of hybrids ever since I saw a danish game mag try to make Deus Ex into a hybrid of just about all genres that exist, so I'm not going to accept such definitions. Furthermore I always found the idea that simple choices in games suddenly make it into an RPG or a hybrid of some sort quite strange. Why must a FPS not have any meaningfull choice in it? is it somehow antithetical to the genre? The reason for why I have mostly always supported Deus Ex as an RPG is because it has multiple mechanics that establish roleplaying, or at least try to do so: Why do Paul always tell you to remember that you're police and "stick with the prod" when it doesn't actually matter to the gameplay? Because they wan't to establish roleplaying. Why does the game allow you to choose the Dialogue of JC when it rarely, if ever, since I can't actually remember, impacts the game? Because JC is a blank slate whose shoes you're filling out. As I remember NOLF doesn't have anything even remotely similar to that. The Diablo business is a much more complex problem since it builds a lot on the historical perception (yeah that sounds silly when I'm talking about games ) of what makes an RPG. Personally if I had my way I'd put it in a hack'n'slash subfolder and be done with it. I'd probably want to actually invent a new genre but then I would run into the animosity of the old-school dnd hack'n'slashers and I don't need that headache. I also can't answer to SS2 since I'm still looking for it cheaply enough that I'll want to get it. I'm sorta hoping that Good old games or Steam will pick it up. Anyway these are obviously just my opinions and not law or anything. I've always just felt it fits better this way. While we're on the subject of Hades and his multiple alts, will Thorton have a cute butt? This is very important to our gameplay experience since his butt will have center stage for large parts of the game. Don't screw up Obsidian!
