  1. I would support anything Obsidian might want to make on a DS.
  2. Here are some words, by a games journalist, about a 10-15 minutes play with DA: Rock, Paper, Shotgun
  3. Could it be that the reason that some people believe that "games journalism sucks lol" is because they have preconceived notions of what games journalism should be that have nothing to do with reality and as such it'll seem wrong? Just throwing it out there. By the way, I counted the Eurogamer scores and unless I counted it wrong the average seem to lie around 7. I'm not trying to defend games journalism here, in fact I don't read most of it. On the other hand I don't run around calling them hacks or dishonest just because I disagree with their opinions or buissness models. I was going to write something similar so I'll just quote it instead and waste space.
  4. I tried the demo and my reaction was kinda similar to that of mkreku. It seem like an interesting RPG ruleset but the demo doesn't allow you anything nor tell you anything and when the story, dialogue and voice acting is significantly lower than even the original BG and the game has some highly questionable design decisions then I don't see much reason for me to buy it. The prequel might be interesting if they produce a demo that actually shows/tells you something and perhaps hire a writer or two. The primary thing that worked well was the camera was incredibly smooth and likable.
  5. I would definately recommend chossing a class from what seems fun rather than which one is supposedly stronger/more balanced/has a larger ****. Blizzard games aren't unbalanced to the point of being ruined unless you're pedantic. I choose a warlock because they could trap souls in gems and control demons i.e. they are badass. I choose engineering as a profession because the things I could create, while not necessarily spectacularly powerfull, contributed to me having loads of fun.
  6. That's the exactly right thing to tell me, as it means you probably won't be bothering with the endgame raiding that I find mindnumbingly dull and stupid. You'll need some kind of hook to properly appreciate the game, this is where the social guild part comes in for most people. Or I assume that as I never got much into that part. The following is going to sound cracy and masochistic, but for me that hook was the uncertainty of being around the other faction that could attack me at any moment and the crazy non-verbal interactions that it lead to.
  7. Don't listen to the people who exclaim the superiour maturity of people playing on their sever or their server-type or their class, it's all bull****. I could say that a gnome warlock is the definite way to go, but I'd be lying. I did immensily enjoy my own though. I could say that PVP servers are better than "carebear" PVE servers inhabited by people who read gardening magazines, but I'd be lying. I can say that I wouldn't ever play on anything else than a PVP server precisely because of the extra dimension that it brings to the game. I can also tell you that you don't have to enjoy the endgame to enjoy the game. The endgame is where you'll need to invest a lot of time and you don't have to play it, I haven't and won't ever.
  8. Personally I just get extremely nervous and keep doublechecking that I did it right.
  9. They still need to learn not to dole out the best weapon and more ammo than you'll need for it within 20 minutes of starting the game. Also dont mind the haters, there are things to explore in F3 that are worth it.
  10. Mostly Valve games. I could be wrong but last I checked most people still feel that steam is that strange program that they have to use to play counterstrike. It doesn't matter how richer people are or how many more of them are alive when judging whether consoles peaked in the 90s. You're trying to judge the current consoles against the last generation with sales number only covering what they've sold now, until we are at the end of the generation we can't do that comparison. Last I saw a graph for current generation system sales it seemed to be relaticely linear and if we presume that it will continue as such then the current generation will aproximately reach something in the range of the last two generations. Or am I completely wrong and missing something obvious? You are correct in you handheld gaming assumption and I'm personally quite interested in how much the DS will have sold by the start of the next generation.
  11. Heh. I'm playing Etrian Odyssey right now and it does surprise me that anyone would describe The Witcher as having grind. Personally I thought the long roads that you had to walk back and forth on many times and relatively boring combat in general as bigger problems, igni spam saved the endgame for me.
  12. Of whose general opinon do you speak? Is this what the devs have said? The developers have said nothing like that. Read my post again, I never atributed those words to the developers. All I did was give my opininion of how the game will probably turn out and griping a bit about how gamers in general view RPG combat, based on the kind of combat that devs deliver at least. The part where I referred the devs was that I believe they once said that it is possible that we'll get something quite tough outside of the plot-critical path, or something like that. @Crashgirl IE combat is "good" because everything after it has been utterly ridiculous in terms of both fun and complexity. Ontopic: I've heard from someone who have tried it (granted only for some 10-20 minutes) that the only real problem is with the control and that it feels like they could fix that before it comes out. I'm positive that it's gonna be at least a decent Bio-RPG and those that don't like it are the ones who don't like Bioware in general.
  13. I'd say it obviously will since the general opinion is that combat is boring and people shouldn't have to be interested in it. I do seem to remember the devs talking about potentially having quests that aren't critical to the plot be more difficult than the plot critical ones, which potentially could lead to decent fights.
  14. This is what I was trying to say in not so classy way. I'll gladly laugh at the console once they've had their shot. Also the people who run steam are likely to be part of the so-called hardcore and not a good view of gamers as an actual demographic.
  15. @Purkake So for it to "count" it has to be about how much the NPC likes chicken?
  16. Are you drunk krezzy? Unless my reading comprehension have reached a new low then the PS2 is the peak at 140 million and that was released in 2000 and the current gen can still beat it.
  17. Let's talk about the PS3 then! I'm still waiting for it to be worthwhile in its amount of games. Do you people have any potential recomendations outside of the well known?
  18. Bioshock protagonist is almost or completely mute if I remember correctly. He doesn't interact with a lot of people though.
  19. I obviously meant that you're unatractive, unmanly and a coward. And yes internet people are an inferiour breed of electronic people. Phone people are the shiznit.
  20. I'm not saying that I want cinematic third person cutscenes, but it feel really awkward when all the awesome characters are horribly compensating for that fact that you never say anything. There has to be another way. In general, a silent protagonist is fine, but for emotional scenes, watching that mute head nod silently tends to hurt the drama of the moment. Edit: Wait, we're not talking about an RPG, but a FPS with a predefined protagonist. In that case, yes, full VO is always better. *punch*
  21. Sounds a bit like CoD games, where nothing happens, or enemies keep respawning, until Player Character moves forward. It is times like these that I suspect you people play games by hiding behind barrels.
  22. You can't argue that the steam survey isn't partial to a specific part of the gaming demographic, Krezzy. I do agree that people should look at it.
  23. Objectively wrong. @Alyx hateclub: I'm not a fan either but you guys have problems.
  24. @Purkake Then you don't have a problem with a mute protagonist, but rather with the implementation.
  25. @Hell kitty Wasn't ep. 4 entirely speculation by the journalists? @Purkake Mute protagonist is the only way to go and I'll punch anyone who disagrees. *punch*
