They have, that you still find it distasteful doesn't mean that they haven't progressed. I'm personally against any form of torture as well. There is nothing there that "borders" on torture, all of it is torture if it is meant to help in extracting information. Unless you want to argue that some of that doesn't bring physical or mental pain.

Trade pottery. Substitutions work aswell but pottery is a good starter. COD4 multiplayer, Gothic 2, Tiberian sun, Jagged Alliance 2 and DOW: Soulstorm for me, I need to finish one before I start a new one.

Have anyone ever actually made a study trying to figure out the potential harm that the internet and games can have on children?

4-500 Orens? I mostly remember money being a problem in chapter 1, as most anything could be found or isn't needed. I don't think I spent any money after chapter three on anything except a meteorite sword and a few books for quests. I ended the game with something like 27000 Orens. I guess something like this probably boils down to individual players and their styles, where my style could lead to me not having to use a lot of money and you having to use alot. Edit: Or I could just remember wrongly. Edit2: And i'll support Pop's comment on white gull as it was all I used for the high-quality potions.

Anyone tried the bombs? I never got around to it as everything was too easy with tawny oil (endurance regeneration right?) and a fully or close to fully upgraded igni, I just blasted everything and didn't run out of endurance.

They're a conservative newspaper, judge for yourself. But measures like this are designed exactly for this reason; as a kind of back-up measure where the parents fail. Something Sand seems incapable of understanding. How can you claim that parenting is solely up to the parents when society influences us so dramatically? It's ludicrous. I don't excuse bad parenting, but Sand is essentially claiming kids with bad parents should just suffer because it's not society's responsibility to monitor content (when it clearly is - e.g. rating systems on television, the legal system, etc) You clearly hate America and freedom everywhere. Serious now, this isn't a backup-measure for when parents fail (or at least most if it isn't, the youtube stuff could probably be), it is to help parents not to fail and it won't help because parents who fail without it will still fail with it. Bear with me for here comes some economic liberalist ranting: The primary reason for parents failing in modern societies is that the goverment has removed most obstacles that would require people to learn new stuff and when they then meet a generational divide as large as the computer and the internet the parents are helpless. I would make a longer answer but ecofreaks have decided that I should turn of all the light soon and I have stuff to take care of.

They're extinct. Though now that you mention it they would fit well with the tyranids. -
But that same flexibility disallows the same kind of control that non-explorable terrain gives over individual battles. It is far easier to make individual battles fun and challenging when you have complete control over how the players enters, exits and moves. Also realism is hardly the pinnacle of gaming, gamedevs will always sacrafice realism for gameplay if it's worth it.

BREAKING NEWS: DAWN OF WAR 2 DETAILS

I too were nearly fooled when somone linked to a teaser for a psp or ds game. -
I know. The problem is that you can't say that more exploration is equal to greater graphics and as such shouldn't be a question, they are two completely different aproaches to singeplayer FPS unlike greater graphics vs. worse graphics where the difference between them is incremental.

Dude. Joke. Relic should go the awesome route and dedicate an entire expansion pack to chaos, that might actually make them interesting. I wouldn't call one year ago for fresh. Doesn't really show anything either. :'( -
Daggerfall certainly had a much more interesting character creation than any of the other TES games, if you discount that it was horribly imbalanced. Bethesda really needs to take another look at CC in their newer TES games.

Blessed is the mind too small for doubt. Innocence proves nothing. Serve the emperor, for tomorrow you may die. They SO need to hurry up. Edit: So are the zerg ripoffs in yet? -
The problem with goverment adverts are that they usually involve learning and paying attention to a larger degree than regular "buy this" adverts, and many people are unlikely to turn their brain on after work even if you tell them that their childs mental health is at stake (which really is blowing things out of proportion, as these things (goverment wanting to do stuff) usually involve). Isn't it much more cost effective to build a house properly than repairing it when it falls apart? Anyway I really should go to bed now... nah.
-
Also wouldn't this require money that could be better spent on educating children (the general age where you are still capable of learning to a high degree unlike adults) or improving healthcare? I wouldn't be surprised if using money on general education would improve childrens general mental health more than this stuff. What was the reason this report was made? [Halfway joking] Is being tough on crime not enough anymore? [/Halway joking] Also what is the reputation of this Byron girl? Is she respectable or mostly a popular tv-person?

Am I the only one who doubt the effect of stuff like this one peoples ability to parent properly? Bad parents will always be bad parents, and believe it or not, some of the worst parents i've seen are the ones that do stuff like putting consoles and computers in the living room.

Biggest nonsense you've ever seen from a game.
Moatilliatta replied to Tale's topic in Computer and Console
The nonsense with doom 3 darkness was that you couldn't see the stuff that you were supposed to shoot and it became more of a horribly annoying survival game than a shooter which was what the two original dooms were. -
No. I'm saying that those are two different ways of making a game and many people would prefer the COD4 way of focusing on tight, fun and linear battles instead of the freeform, preplaced, puzzle-like solving of Crysis. Edit: That is why the video sucks, he forgets that neither way of making games is inherently superior. If he wants to explore then he should go find a game that allows him to instead of a pseudo-squad-action game (in the singeplayer at least).
-
A well known side effect of bad games.

Are you currently playing the original UT? No, should I? I play UT3 since it is closer to what I like, while still being new. -

Why should I consider it anything but average? I can't think of any gameplay in crysis that was good enough to warrant it being labeled as above average. The video is stupid since it complains that COD4 isn't openended which I doubt is what infinityward was going for. I didn't watch all of it though so does it become better than that?
