  1. UT3 was good for anyone who was clever enough to see that both 2003 and 2004 were huge failures compared to the original UT, UT3 is the closest Epic has gotten to the old and still good feel.
  2. Doom 3 is the only game that I have quit in under thirty minutes, I still can't believe how much iD screwed that one up.
  3. 1) Yes you can turn invisible for a couple of seconds but that doesn't make the game noticably better. Crysis have other cool powers as well, but they never elevate the gameplay. 2) An action game with an open world instead of a linear progression is just a different kind of FPS. Also Crysis have limited openness, it's like multiple levels of complete openness instead of an actual open world i.e. the openendedness always converge at some point, so it is just different ways of handling bases. 3)Shooting domesticated birds is exactly the same as shooting with bullets except they make funny sounds and aren't exactly lethal. Crysis doesn't have this though. Edit: OK I guess Crysis does have it then, but that doesn't elevate gampleay, it's just a gimmick. It's a fun game but never gets better than that.
  4. Crysis? Not really, unless your definition of average FPS equals a game solely consisitng of shooting stuff, if so then it surely is above average. It did have more stuff than what I would expect but not something that would pull it above average.
  5. I wasn't disappointed with Crysis. Though I didn't expect much more than an average FPS with good graphics so...
  6. I haven't yet tried 3, but both 1 and 2 have some of the most ****ty control schemes that I have ever tried. I tried to switch between the witcher and gothic 2 and the difference cannot be described in words. @BG assasin gripe The best method was to use Immy's wand of magic missiles to disrupt his spellcasting, works nearly every time.
  7. The most interesting question haven't been answered yet, is it fun? I know GDM has already sorta vouched for it but have you come to any conclusion?
  8. Considering that they are quite far apart (in the warped time of video game releases) and being quite different games, is that really a fair comparison?
  9. Do you know anything about how the chinese would view something like that? I'm asking because I don't know quite enough to say that it could be a good idea, Azarkon is right when he says that a lot of China's stability lies with them being Greater China and not just China. I doubt it would be a good ide of to relinguish a territory that they have made a big deal of, and any of the other territories aren't being troublesome in the same fashion.
  10. They are all just CRPGs - computer roleplaying games, we just have a specific category that RPGs made in japan gets put under, which is JRPG. RPG-------Pen and Paper | |--CRPG | |__JRPG | |__Hack and slash (CRPG variant) Does that make it seem clearer what I mean? it is a sub-category which categorizes by geographical location of developement because that geographical place tends to make CRPGs that are different than the usual fare. Both Baldurs gate, Final Fantasy and Chrono cross are CRPGs even though the latter can also be termed JRPGs. To the last point, console style RPGs are as the name tells you a style and as such KOTOR doesn't fall under it just because it is on the console, since it differs in style from what we would call console style RPGs.
  11. How do you know that 7 will come out anytime soon? How do you know that 7 won't be even more shaky than vista? Surely you are being irrational by putting your faith in a completely unknown future. What are you gonna do if 7 proves to be shaky, wait for the next itteration of windows ad infinitum?
  12. jrpg - a RPG made in Japan. Mindnumbing. [slight sarcams]The fact that the japanese sucks at making rpgs doesn't mean that jrpg is a genre, it's like marking a leper so you know to avoid them.[/slight sarcasm] Edit: Anyway I haven't actually played this game but it is firmly on my to do list.
  13. How can Anachronox be a JRPG when it was developed by Ion Storm?
  14. At first I tought he was alright, but then he started to grow on me and now I've bookmarked his site. Downward spiral?
  15. Is that why the West fought two devastating World Wars that nearly destroyed the world? Is that why the US went into Iraq, leading to a humanitarian crisis that rivals Saddam's ethnic cleansing? Politics have always trumped human lives. Few governments ever hesitated to make war when it is within their perceived interests to do so. One war is 50 years old and something that the germans are still ashamed over. The second point isn't very good because the USA themselves have proved how stupid it is for a western nation to start an agressive war, unless you're thinking that the USA are doing very well at the moment when it comes to political and economic stability. I will agree that Krezack is wrong, but so are you Politics doesn't come before human lives in the west, but that doesn't mean that the west won't go to war. It is much more murky than any of you are suggesting. And few people in the west would want to do that again.
  16. @D_N I absolutely hate those heads, their eyes pierce my soul (in a bad way) and everybody and their dog uses them. Tried this?
  17. I don't think anyone who is serious about their position (and in their right mind) would argue that china shouldn't put down violent riots. The reason that The West berates China is that China uses force much beyond what The West finds to be minimal force. The reason The West berates China is exemplified in the recent propaganda video that China sent out, wherein they tell us that the military didn't fire their weapons, when in fact they did and it caused great unneeded human suffering, most likely more than China has reported. This isn't a hearing, you're not gonna get shot if you don't swear allegiance to the The West What I'm trying to say is that a few arguments would be nice, otherwise your post is worthless.
  18. Yes, but I doubt that they would actually do it as anything but a last resort, and I highly doubt that Taiwan would be willing to drive China towards that. The only likely wars involving China and Taiwan will be in the awesome games that game developers still haven't made involving China, Taiwan and the USA (it could replace WW2 as the primary game-war). So unless I'm very wrong about China's mentality then it won't be for attacking Taiwan but to keep other great powers from interfering.
  19. Once again the world proves that I'm right in not going to the beach.
  20. A navy can be used to defend your interests, just saying. I don't know if you're just baiting Walkerguy, but they most likely wont need to.
  21. I got Gothic 2 working in Vista by installing it on an XP machine and moving it over directly. Anyway I looked in the .INI file: ; ; G O T H I C 2 ; ; INI-File ; ; contains different settings ; ... some can be modified in gothics menu ; ... some not (feel free to hack, but don't cry ... :) ; ... others won't take any effect (they will be reset during gameplay) ; ... and a few may cause a crash or some other funny things :) ; ; Be careful but DON'T PANIC !! ;
  22. Owned as an excuse?
  23. Well it is quite mediocre. And every cool person is obligated to hate mediocre stuff that is loved by the mindless masses, didn't you know that?
  24. I'll probably wait a bit. That way Microsoft could remove some problems that I could potentially get, and I don't feel like updating since I have no real incentive.
