Bioware - Are Their Games Actually That Good?
Moatilliatta replied to Humodour's topic in Computer and Console
As an aside to our little mod discussion in the other thread: NWN is one of the only games where I've been able to truly enjoy the good mods as there is no question how well they mesh with the original game, as they don't need to, they are their own game. It was also the only actual roleplaying game that I've played online and enjoyed. -
1 - 3 2 - 9 3 - 16 Do we need to use all our votes?

There is no inconsistency as the game that is perfect would be just as much ten as the other even if it would have attained a higher grading if there was one. Also people can expect 10 to be speciel but they are still wrong as 10 is clearly defined by IGN and IGN can give it out however they read their definition. Haven't we already established that we dislike most reviewers? Why keep reading the reviews then? EDit: Not according to IGN's own definition. Also it is kinda silly to define a grade in a way that it supposedly can never be achieved. Humans already have the idea of perfection, you guys don't need to define it through a grade.

I do like the idea about manly muscled men showin manly nipples - we need more games like this.

Dying isn't interesting. I actually think Sawyer talked cleverly about this at some point in a thread i.e. some devs make the AI go easier on the player when in groups to make it fun because melee is hard to do properly in groups otherwise or something like that. Edit: Not that I know anything about A's C, I'm just talking out of my arse.

And Hillary won a state recently... The number does seem to grow every time you mention it, so I migh look into the group when my computer gets fixed. P.S. I very much approve of playing STALKER with the lights out when it's dark.

I often find that the easiest mods to play with are graphical mods as it is hard to be a puritan about graphics, quality is still the deciding factor here. Gameplay mods come afterwards but these are usually only used when you don't mind overwriting the gameplay i.e. Oblivion - puritanism looses its idea when applied to Oblivion. Then comes NPC and story mods as Krezack desribed above, and I don't touch them as a general rule. The mod I've played with the most is actually an Oblivion mod is FCOM: Convergence which collects most of the good and big gameplay mods together and makes a hydrogen bomb with so few flaws (in my expeience and for a mod) that it makes the game replayable

Denmark had such a high grade. Then we changed it to be more in line with the rest of the world. I liked it, but I'm also for failing pupils until they've met minimum standards. You can't compare grading in schools to grading in computer game reviews though.

That is funny because quite a lot of young arabs, iraqis shady people in sunset lands listen to rap music. -
Bioware - Are Their Games Actually That Good?
Moatilliatta replied to Humodour's topic in Computer and Console
I would, the discussion of Bioware isn't so much about whether they make good games, because they do. The discussion centers around whether their games can be called masterpieces, something which can easily be contested, whether true or not. -
So is this thing actually going somewhere or is it just that you're doing a Hillary?

Doesn't the head of the guy in the first screenshot look very small? I guess it is the effect of wearing the armour of a giant.
-
Wikipedia says so and as such it must be true. Edit: Woah wait... browser based?
-
Because that would make it too hard? Also Bok, your screens make my crappy laptop crawl past them. Keep up the good work.

Funnily enough the only mods I have ever finished the IE games with is ascension and TUTU, I've tried with many others but it doesn't work. I find that the quality of mods are usually much lower than the actual games or they serve some minority that is defined by not being me.

BREAKING NEWS: NEW 'BLOOD ON THE SAND' TRAILER
Moatilliatta replied to Llyranor's topic in Computer and Console
I'm totally getting it. . .. ... So anyone here gangsta dumb enough to play that crap? -
HoMM=Heores of Might and Magic? The fifth one was released recently and was quite good.

And they push most of the earwax further into the ear. They do wor well enough to clean th exterior parts of the ears, which coincidentially are the parts you should worry about. Everything else that has to do with earwax should be handled by a general practitioner. I personally use my little finger, which in my experience works well enough. Just remember to clean it afterwards or people might start to avoid shaking your hands or touching your keyboard. Derailing threads is fun.

His point has some merit if you'll take a look at your top 4 games EVAR Hyperbole, yes, but there is merit in it.

My relatively recent computer purchase was completely worth it when I fired up STALKER in it. Edit: Top of the page so I'm quoting.
-
Now that you mention it I remember seeing someone do that. In case that you are asking for help downloading I use http://www.utorrent.com/ . I have nothing to download nowadays as I only donwload completely legal stuff and there is nothing that has interested me so it might have gone to hell for all I know.
-
Are you talking about a player as in a music player (I have no idea how that would work) or a downloading program?
-
My point with the rockslide was that you will very soon see an even pretter one as it was quite generic even if amazing. STALKER on the other hand made dungeons that were much better than most that I've seen yet because of the lightning and awesome anomalies, none of which could have been done as well with earlier tech, and none of which will be likely to be trumped anytime soon unless people are ripping it off. I couldn't find the atmosphere in Crysis though, the only thing that reminded me that I were in a tropical paradise was the fact that the sky was clear and there were white sand beaches. Much of that probably boils down to taste though. And yes STALKER is superior in many other ways as well like how you can often hear the monsters in the dungeons before you see them and similar awesome stuff that works very well, it's true but that wasn't my point.
-
If DA comes with a toolset then it will most likely be very limited, I still want it as well though. Crysis' problem is that it makes use of amazing visuals that are interesting only because they are advanced and as such not the amazing visuals themselves. Games that inspire awe in the gamer because of graphics (STALKER, DoW1, CoH are all on my favorite recent games list) inspire awe because they use graphics in interesting and non-generic ways i.e. not rockslides. People often talk about graphics being a problem, but they aren't. The problem is developers who don't know how to make graphics into a factory of awesome. That's my rant for the day. *Realizes that Jazz Jackrabbit is gone and looks for the sequel*
