  1. Hardly any of them. I too have played what seems to be the same games as you at the same age more or less, but I still enjoy modern games a great deal AND older games as well. *Goes looking for Jazz Jackrabbit*
  2. I just wanted to mention that that is possibly the best description of the status of Fallout 3 that I've seen. I shouldn't say too much though as I'm the one who gets excited by the mere mention of DoW2.
  3. I think it is very cool, but stagnated human beings aren't. Then again it can happen even to me as anyone who reads "The Music Thread" have seen.
  4. I too am jealous.
  5. Hence the wishfull thinking in brackets. I do think that it could potentially be worth it for them if they could make something that would make people adopt, people after all often need incentive to do stuff. Edit: I should also say that I'm slightly sceptical about the 10% figure. It is true that it is much lower than it should be by now.
  6. Could it be that the problem is with you and not newer games? Seven is better, just my opnion. I still haven't finished it and as such can't really fault you for this. Any specific reasons? Why? Personally I find the visceral experience of a good shooting very invigorating. Top games are often more about what games people are emotionally attached to rather than "THE BEST!". This is because humans are living emotional beings, something that people often forget, and which funnily is probably your problem. Adjusting is always hard but if you keep at it you can eventually come to like new games, at least that is how I think about it. Yes I know - whippersnapper in old mans-thread.
  7. [wishfull thinking]It would be justified if game developers would lift their collective arses and make true directx 10 games [/wishfull thinking]
  8. Preview. If I read it correctly base building will be minimized or completely done away with in at least parts of the game. I'm not sure what my stance is on that. I'm not entirely convinced by the loot system that they're talking about, yet. But then I remember that it is Relic and I trust in Relic.
  9. Because I don't like them? It was supposed to be joke-ish since the only reason why I listen to nothing but Neil Young, Bob Dylan and The Mars Volta is because I moved my music taste to them and bunkered down as if expecting a nuclear (musiclear?) holocaust. I thought that the fact that I was asking if criticizing was bad etiquette (I would say it is) and then posting someone who can rightly be called an oldtimer was enough of a clue, apparently I failed. Out of curiosity: how would you expect someone to answer such a question? Surely popular music is quite relative. Neil Young - Safeway Cart Edit: Changed my phrasing.
  10. Could you elaborate on who these baby-eating communists are that want to ban it? Also, do you know if they have harmful effects on these babies or are they just annoying them?
  11. That should be Bok's next investment. Gaming in a Sauna would be awesome!
  12. Would it be bad etiquette for me to tell you guys that you have really awfull tastes in music? Neil Young - Driveby
  13. People who are born before 1985 aren't really people. They're just old and ripe for the nursing home.
  14. Stalker does have many problems, but also the greatest atmosphere in recent times. Another area where it shines, which is very related to the first, is in its dungeons. STALKER is one of the first games where I hardly tired at all of the dungeon delving, partly because it hasn't a lot of it but it is still quite amazing.
  15. It wasn't just a unique visual experience, most every part of it was unique (as I remember it at least). I too really liked it. I think it was Bob Marley.
  16. I remember XP running like ass on my computer even though it was high end for the time, and I knew noone who had a good experience until SP1. But then again it IS anedoctal evidence so **** grano salis. Edit: What does this forum have against Latin? Edit2: Latin with a g? I need to sleep.
  17. I just finished STALKER (didn't finish the first time) with a more powerfull PC and I found it awesome how I had much more use of the flashlight this time around.
  18. Afraid to realise that their life is virtually over? 19.
  19. I guess I can share my Vista 32-bit experience. Most of the problems that people complain about are either nonexistant with all updates installed or come from lazyness and stupidity. Two rules that in my experience are very important, especially with older games, is to never install anything to the program files folder (or equivalent) and to always start a program as the admin (right-click and start as admin), those two simple rules have saved me from 99% of all problems. There have been bigger problems with Gothic 2 and Call of Duty4: Modern Warfare. The first couldn't install because it is simply incompatible with Vista and as such I had to install it on my laptop and move it over manually. CoD4:MW had problems starting in multiplayer which were sound related and all I had to do was to go into sound settings and turn on something called stereomix (probably has something to do with recording and COD4 thinking that I had a microphone. Other than that there is the problem of slightly lower performance of non-directx10 games which are unnoticable on a modern system (like the one you'll end up buying). The biggest problem with Vista is that while the problems with it aren't that large at the moment, neither are the gains, as most of the things you get as a gamer aren't needed or very small at the moment (directx 10 graphics). Do note that I'm hardly tech-savvy and as such all of this is experience. As an interesting piece of info the oldest game that I've tried to play on Vista is Knights and Merchants. I can't help but think that much of this is created by bad-hype by thousands of people who try to look tech-savvy (and fail) or have no foundation on the planet earth. By this I don't mean people like you Krezack since you did come with a well-reasoned post, but the people for whom it is a gut instinct and whom have no actual experience with it or even proper knowledge of it, there are a lot of these people in my experience and it irks me. When I first switched to Vista, a friend of mine asked me if that version wasn't so horrible that eats babies. I tried to ask him where he had gained this brilliant piece of insightfull information and the only answer he gave me was "from a friend who knows a lot about tech", the only answer I could must was that he should show me that friend so that I could drive out his stupidity with my fist. As to the 32 vs. 64 bit problem. I have 4GB of ram and only 32bit beacuse I could get that one much cheaper and as such opted for the safe choice (I didn't know at the time how many problems - if any 64-bit had). I have only heard positive things about 64-bit and as such can't imagine that it would be a horrendous experience.
  20. I like that site, except that it misses the point a few times. An example would be that it displats Obama's statement "I'm the product of a mixed marriage that would have been illegal in 12 states when I was born." as mostly true, because it wasn't 12 but 22. Surely the point of such a site would have to be to show that they lied (where lying is defined as intentionally spreading falsehood), instead of simply reporting the wrong number (pretty obvious as the number is lower than the actual number and a higher number would be to his gain). Edit: In short, it is too pedantic. Edit2: Funnyness.
  21. Comments under videos are nearly always stupid, what med these stand out to you?
  22. Of course. When I say that I'm an art-illiterate I'm obviously directing it at people who seem to be using a realist or objectivist view of what art is. It is simply my way of saying that I have no idea what art is until it affects me, and even then I have no idea what part of it is affecting me, so I am illiterate. This also places me very deeply in a relativist position on the subject of art.
  23. He is completely killable in BG1.
  24. Could you elaborate on this? Specifically what people said that made you think that and why you don't think the game is sexist?
  25. Cleared my cache and seeing #1.
