  1. Playing Life is Strange sort on and off. Am a bit into Episode 3 now. It's alright. Whenever the game tries to do gameplay, like puzzles, it turns crappy pretty fast. It's the whole interactive high school drama that is the draw here. And I'm actually kinda enjoying the overdone teenage stuff in this, it's kinda refreshing. So, not bad but not great so far. Also picked up Conclave and newly released The Reaper's Due for Crusader Kings 2. Looks like The Reaper's Due in particular is gonna be quite a lot of fun.
  2. Don't think so. Witcher 1 is my favorite in the trilogy but it also feels like the odd man out. Alvin just kinda goes away also. And Triss feels like a completely different character than in the other two games.
  3. The conversations with the gods at Teir Evron was probably my favorite moment of the game. I thought the whole style of writing the game features really came into its own there. Loved the atmosphere created by the music, that "space-y" little graphic of the pillars and yeah, the writing. Loved it. I also thought the ending of Sagani's quest was fantastic and the tone of it was something that one doesn't typically see in games. Durance's realization of what has happened was also powerful, especially the famous scream. But I thought his character was slightly ruined in that he became so chummy with the Watcher afterwards. I didn't really buy that part, or rather, maybe I didn't *want* to buy that part of it. I thought it felt a bit lame. I also liked going through the Battery in WM1, a well done dungeon crawl. And a lot of the story stuff in WM2 was memorable as well. I loved that opening scriped interaction you get when you rest after completing the first part, I just wish there was some requirement of time passing or whatever before you get it (though I understand why they didn't do that).
  4. Though this should really be fixed asap. That's a pretty big bug as far as I'm concerned.
  5. I just started up a new game with the newest beta and this happens with Calisca for me. But this is a problem that has been happening sporadically for me since I first got the game at its release I believe. Not sure what triggers it. On my last playthrough, it happened a lot with Zahua when doing his quest.
  6. Personally I kinda hope that this thread will still be going in 10 years time. That one kickstarter reward that never got delivered... but we shall not forget!
  7. -A big, thriving city, with lots of content! Athkatla could manage it back in the day, it should not be impossible today. -Bigger areas with more content (doesn't need to be quests, just... interesting things). White March was a good step forward in this area. -Less combat overall, but tougher and more interesting encounters. Not gonna happen, but... -More interesting ways to solve quests. PoE will probably always be a combat-heavy type of game which is fine, but more options is always nice. -Personally I think difficulties above Normal could stand to be buffed up a bit. -Companions with an edge. Have them leave us, challenge us, attack us, attack other party members, etc, if there is a serious clash of beliefs. More DRAMA amongst the companions. -More of the really deep quests, that span different areas, have different entry/exit points, many ways to solve them.

  9. I actually like that you don't get a game over for accusing the wrong person. You have to face that you didn't get it right. As for me, I am playing DOTA 2 and Volume. Volume wasn't exactly what I expected, but I still enjoy it. I've beaten 60+ levels from 100 available ones, so far. I'm completely fine with that also, I like that the game continues on. But I wish there was some sort of recognition from the game.
  10. I'm playing Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments. It's actually a really pleasant game. It's nice to have a game that has a slow pace. It's not particularly difficult. Well, you can draw wrong conclusions and accuse the wrong person but unfortunately there doesn't really appear to be any consequence to it. Or sort of... follow-up. It'd be pretty nice to have gotten that. But yeah, it's a really nice game still. Definitely enjoying it.
  11. One of my all-time favorite bands.
  12. I played the Nyckelharpa a bit in high school. It's a lovely instrument but I had to stop since I couldn't afford to get on for myself at the time (was already into guitars).
  13. As an example of this, I watched the whole Twilight series a while back with a friend. Extremely entertaining.
  14. Down is a fine band, I remember making the connection when the title was first announced but I kinda forgot about it soon after. Personally, I don't think there's any connection but who knows? It's a pretty cool coincidence at the very least. Though I must say I never really liked that song though I really enjoy the album overall.
  15. I'm currently playing it and am enjoying it at the moment. Think I'm approaching the end of it. I think it's really a shame though that they have built a game which... is set in a harsh world, where you make harsh decisions and where, story-wise, things seem to go against you a lot of the time, but at the same time the developers seem to be firmly on the path of "we can't make the game too challenging because bad players might not like it then". So you get the whole caravan system which is a marvellous idea in my mind but ultimately it means absolutely nothing because, mechanically speaking, they seem so intent on not challenging the player too much. And I mean, the caravan is kinda the focal point of the whole series, yet it means absolutely nothing in terms of gameplay. Such a shame. I'm one of the people who really like the combat system. It does feel very odd feels-wise that you can a lot of times gain advantage by keeping weaker enemies around on the battlefield. But if you can swallow that (much like one has to swallow the caravan stuff I suppose), then the combat system is pretty interesting in my opinion and manages to feel different than other games. It still feels pretty weak in terms of encounter design though. You're still mainly fighting the Dredge which are... just not very interesting I think. There are also some battles with victory conditions and stuff but... I dunno, it's missing something to really shake it up. I really enjoy the new classes and stuff like that though. I really like the series overall so far, but it's mostly because I really dig the atmosphere (art and especially music are *outstanding*) and the story is kinda interesting. I also like the theme of travelling.
  16. There's not much music which can continue to produce a tear in my eye year after year but this melody manages it. Still one of the most touching things I've ever heard.
  17. Simple food today. Salmon cooked in cream with onions, garlic, bellpepper, zucchini and carrots. Put this spicemixture for fish that I bought at the local fish store. Served with pasta and additional salad. Delicious and simple to make.
  18. As a matter of technical proficiency, probably. But I've got to go with style over chops: It's a scholcky song at it's core-- might as well turn the schlock up to 11. It *is* a schlocky song for sure. But I think even more than that, it's a goddamn amazing melodyline. This one is great also:
  19. Best cover of Eye of the Tiger ever. Amazing players.
  20. For me, PoE had quite a lot of memorable moments, though they are not delivered in the same way as BG2 (for which I'm rather glad though I still quite like that game). Here are some of mine (SPOILERS): -The first Thaos encounter is very memorable for me. -Raedric's quest. -Maerwald -The sanitarium soulreading where you find out that Thaos has undermined animancy -Speaking to the gods in Teir Evron (probably my favorite if I had to single out one moment) -The final moments of Sagani's quest -The final moments of Durance's quest That's just a few of them and not even going into the expansions. It's also hard to compare one's reaction to something that wasreleased around 15 years ago to something released today.
  21. Yeah, more tavern songs would be great. Also, for some reason, the Gref's Rest tavern song still don't play for me (it didn't in 3.01 anyway). A bit sad about that.
  22. Is it like the books...so do you have to fight the Manticore and find the riddles in Khare? Are there Red Eyes in the city... I'm not familiar with the books, nor do I remember the names from the game. Is Khare the big city? If so, yes, there is a riddle thing in there (think I completed the game without solving it though). I believe I also did fight a Manticore somewhere along the way.
  23. I liked the music in PoE quite a lot and I think it raised the bar in the expansion as well (though there was not a ton of new music). If Justin can keep going in that same direction, I'm completely fine with it. There are some tracks in PoE I'm not crazy about. Some of the battle tracks, the stronghold track, Gilded Vale for example. But I was pleased overall with it. One thing I'd love to see if there's time is to have music changing depending on whether it's day and night. I loved that in Baldur's Gate. There was something truly atmospheric about wandering around a town a night with that creeping, threatening music going on, and then finding an inn and hearing the warm music from within. Looking forward what Justin cooks up for Tyranny as well. EDIT: In fact, if Justin swings by... was that your music for the Tyranny trailer?
  24. There are three parts available on STEAM now, with the fourth and final one being in development. The first one feels fairly linear (though you do go get plenty of options in dialogues and such), the second part opens up just a little bit more. And apparently the third (which I haven't played yet) is apparently pretty much an open world interactive fiction game somehow. I liked the first two installments, looking forward to playing the third and then the final one as well.
  25. Been playing some Witcher 3 but took a quick break from it. Been fooling around in the Kingdome Come Deliverance beta, mostly just running around and looking at the pretty visuals. Don't want to spoil the rest too bad.
