I agree with a lot of what you're saying, though I think the story works well as a big sidequest. I don't have a problem with that part of it though I guess they could've tied the main plot into it a bit more. But I agree with the rest. Personally, I "solved" it by sorta of diving back and forth between the expansion and regular campaign. It still screws with the difficulty a bit obviously but I still think it felt pretty natural. I sorta tackled an area at a time in the White March.

I'm not quite sure how I feel about it. I wouldn't want it flat out removed though. Survival is the least important by far I think. Personally, I typically only eat food (if then even) before a really hard encounter. I can't really be bothered with using food on a regular basis so Survival stays down for my people. Athletics is... well, it's nice I suppose but not enormously so. Feels very "well it's nice to have some but...". If scripted interactions were a bit more numerous and maybe a bit more punishing with the injuries then maybe... The others are highly useful to me. Using scrolls every now and then is a very useful tactic for me so I love having at least one with a high Lore. Some stealth is always good (though again, I suppose not hugely important, more due to how I play really) and Mechanics is absolute key.

White March - Why Start Midgame ?
Starwars replied to Black-'s topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Not until Winter at least, possibly early 2016. -
Personally, I liked Zahua more than the Devil. Some of the drugs stuff got overdone but I think they kept a pretty good balance between humor and him being serious. He was pleasant to talk to, reminded me of Edér in that way (which makes sense as they're written by the same guy). Looking forward to his quest. I thought the Devil felt really undercooked. For one, when I had gotten her in my party, I went straight to Stalwart to rest at the Inn and her quest fired off before I had even chatted with her. It felt extremely rushed. I also thought they hit upon the whole "she's a MURDERER!" thing a bit too much. I dunno, in a way I guess she's complex since she seems pretty pleasant to talk to in some ways but with that darkness behind her. But there just isn't enough depth to her really justify that or have it make sense. It's all over very quickly. I will say that reading the woodcutter's soul was fantastic, as was the Devil's recollection of being put into the construct body. Those bits were some of the best writing in the expansion/game in my mind. But yeah... I wish there was more to the Devil, and that she was unveiled more slowly over the course of the game like Durance for example. Her story is so heavy yet you can get it done in basically no time at all.

I agree with JadedWolf. Especially since this seems to really be bubbling up to the surface. If you aren't already, try go talking to someone. It might just lead to great things. And if it doesn't, you can just not go anymore. It sounds incredibly frustrating for you. I have a mom who I feel is overbearing but she is nothing compared to your situation. I've always been the "quiet guy" (my brother is very social and talkative) and have never really pushed back when my mom "took over". My mom lets me do what I want and supports me even if she doesn't agree with what I'm doing, but there is still a strong sense of wanting control there and she wants to know absolutely everything that I'm up to and get involved in it somehow. And when I reach my limit and finally say "back off", she pulls the victim card and goes "oh haven't we always raised you in a good way?" and "I'm only trying to help!". I find that very frustrating and, yes, a lack of respect there and a lack of just... looking at things outside yourself. Listen to things outside yourself. It's so weird to me to *not* have that empathy. Another thing that hurt me recently happened about a year ago. I'd been friends since my teens with this girl. We really connected back then and have stayed really good friends up until last year (I'm 32 now). She has Asperger's and have always struggled immensely with social relations and it's ended up hurting her again and again, making her more and more bitter. For the last coupe of years, I found that she really fell down into a "black and white" situation as far as people go, born from her bitterness and constant failures with relationships (not blaming her with everything btw, some of the people really *were* horrible). And finally, because of a pretty petty little argument we had (which I tried to talk to her about and move on), she basically said some rather horrible things about me and she ended the friendship. At first, I was incredibly angry with it. Now I'm just really sad. And it's a really strange, and terrible, feeling to look back at so much of my history that she was apart of, and just... Not being able to look at it with the same fondness anymore. It's so tainted.

I went in at level 6 at first which was a challenge (and this is only on Hard). While I could do rather a lot of the encounters if I applied myself, there were definitely one or two that stomped me at that level. After that, I kinda ended up weaving back and forth a bit between the main story, the Endless Paths and the expansion. Works pretty well.

I think I lost interest in DA2 somewhere in the second act. I kinda enjoyed it at first as well. Hope you can have fun all the way through.

After finishing up Shadowrun Hong Kong (which was excellent), I'm not playing Pillars of Eternity with the expansion. Going as Druid this time around. Have done some stuff around the expansion areas, found the two companions etc. Still quite a bit left to do there. Some of the encounters are really tough, and I'm only on Hard this time around. With the second part of the expansion, this game is gonna be pretty damn enormous. After I finish up PoE (will be a while), I'm gonna dive into STASIS which I'm *really* looking forward to. Good time to be a gamer now.

[2.0] Blurry font in game
Starwars replied to Malek_Deneith's question in Pillars of Eternity: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
Just adding my voice to the choir that this should really be hotfixed. It's not a pleasant experience at the moment (especially with the amount of reading in the game) and quite a lot of people seem to be suffering from it. -
Shadowrun Hong Kong baby! And after that, a replay of Pillars with the expansion.

You're missing out Hurlshot. Your feed could be filled up with the whole GG vs SJW thing. Just think of what you're missing!

If you don't mind sharing how did he walk free? Seems like the evidence wasn't conclusive enough. Some things got screwed up in the photos that were taken when she went to the emergency room right after the rape occured, a mistake on the medical staff's part which is of course really sour. There was also something other thing. I wasn't able to be a the trial so I've just gotten messages from my girlfriend who was there. The woman's lawyer was quite surprised at the outcome though as it seemed to be a really strong case overall. In about a week's time, they're gonna decide if they want to take it to the "higher court" (not sure what the term is in english/american) and try there. I guess the worst thing is that just going through with the trial was an enormous and traumatic effort for the woman, and in the end it ended up being for nothing. Unless they take it further. We'll see I suppose.

Dude who raped my girlfriend's best friend walked free today. Really want to go and enforce some street justice on the bastard but... ugh. Worst thing is that the town we live in is small enough that I actually run into this **** from time to time. Crappy day.

So, White march 1 to ... 3?

Basically, since it's the internet, if there is no issue we must create one immediately! -

Starwars replied to BAdler's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Announcements & News
The scripted interactions look nice, more in-depth this time around.
