MSI Z97 PC Mate Crucial 8GB (2x4GB) CL9 1600Mhz Ballistix Sport ASUS Radeon R9 290x DirectCU II Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO Cooler Master Elite 310 Fractal Design Integra M 550W 80+ Bronze SSD 240GB OCZ Arc 100 Intel Core i5 4690k 3,5 ghz, 6mb Just ordered this. Could've pushed it further but money is a bit tight. Got a deal on the graphics card which seemed really great actually (though I know it potentially makes more noise, runs hotter and eats more power than its Nvidia counterparts). Make me feel good about this!

Congratulations! I'm guessing she's been regretting that decision all morning? I turn 30 tomorrow, going to "the collective" today, as my friends place is known, to play some StarWars pnp - tomorrow they've arranged a small party for me, not anything big though since I have to work during the night, wich means that I have a perfect excuse not to do any real drinking! Actually, she's probably been playing it for an equal amount of time, haha. The neighbours are probably wondering what the hell is going on though.

My birthday today and my girlfriend got me a freakin' didgeridoo. How cool is that?! Now I've been playing (using that word very loosely here) it all morning until I almost passed out from lack of oxygen.

Primordia is amazing. One of the best adventure games I've played!

Yeah, set in a cyberpunk setting this time. I've seen a few reviews today, getting good grades so far so seems very promising.

Replaying New Vegas. It's been a while. Fantastic game though. Will probably take a break from it once Technobabylon gets released on STEAM though, really looking forward to it.

Annoyed by the end of Act 2
Starwars replied to Scimon's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
And it's also a bit odd from a production perspective in my opinion to have the Defiance Bay riots. I mean, it would obviously be a huge undertaking to "replace" Defiance Bay by a post-riot version but that's what it would take to make it work in my opinion. It feels so undercooked now to just have a few new dialogues about it and... that's it, except for the sanitarium having been burnt down. Everything's pretty chill, the rioters are calm, order is restored and everything's clean again. It just seems like an odd thing to write into the narrative unless there indeed were more things planned for the post-riot city. -

Annoyed by the end of Act 2
Starwars replied to Scimon's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
End of Act II was probably the lowest point for me as well. I was not a fan of the plot railroading going on there either (though depending on your choices in that conversation, it does have an effect on the ending at least). But yeah, it seemed to me that it was a curious mistake to make. Especially after many similar complaints in NWN2 and the trial there where, again, the trial itself is nicely executed but in the end it just amounts to the "plot taking over". But all in all, it didn't do much to deter my enjoyment of the game. As soon as I got to Twin Elms, I was hooked again. -
Favorite quest?
Starwars replied to qualiyah's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
Actually, the prison level doesn't count as one of the Endless Paths levels. It's the next one, the one where you meet Maerwald. -
Favorite quest?
Starwars replied to qualiyah's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
It happens after you do the whole Gabrannos thing on the Blight level of the Endless Paths and then return to the first level (with Kana of course). It's a bit odd since it's not super-likely the player will go back to that level but there ya go. -
Favorite quest?
Starwars replied to qualiyah's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
Flavour-wise: -The God quests in Twin Elms. I'm lumping them all-together since they all stem from that place. I thought those conversations were really awesome and one of the highlights of the game. Loved the imagery of them. Gameplay-wise: -Raedric's Keep. I love that you obviously hear about his keep while in Gilded Vale but noone points you towards that location for a quest (well, on my last playthrough, Kolsc actually did approach me in town as opposed to in the wilderness area to the east of Gilded Vale). The keep itself feels big enough, with a few different ways in. A few interesting characters to interact with, and good writing for Raedric. I also really like the Blood Legacy quest (that is the one with the Skaenites right?) but I've gotten pretty tired of it since playing through it so much in the backer beta. The companion quests are very simple in how they're set-up but some of them have really good points to them. I also loved Sagani's quest. Gameplay-wise it's just "go here, go there, go here..." but the it's well-written. I also thought the end to it was quite touching. -
Some Areas have super low resolution
Starwars replied to Co0n's question in Pillars of Eternity: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
Do you have any specific examples of areas? I noticed that the outside of Caed Nua is rather blurry in my game. Not sure if it has to do with the fact that a lot of things can change in that particular map but it doesn't look all that nice. But I can't think of any other areas where that happens. -
[1.05 v567] Potential bug with music
Starwars replied to Insolentius's question in Pillars of Eternity: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
There are fairly long pauses before tracks repeat (a few minutes), which is intentional I believe. However, tracks fading out is not something I've noticed, that may be a bug. The music pieces I recall definitely has a proper "end" to them and don't fade out. -
I agree with this! I hope this is something they can really develop for an expansion or sequel. You can create some great and moody effects nowadays and inserting that into the backgrounds of PoE would be magical. And definitely if they were dynamic. One of my fav effects is the mist just when you enter Ondra's Gift. It'd be great if stuff like that could happen dynamically (or around the morning hours in the case of the mist). And yep, random rainfall, snowfall, thunder and such just makes the areas come alive even more. Hope it's something that's planned for the future.

I had a problem with Kana even prior to the patch where, each time combat started, his chanting would *stop* even if it was activated prior to that. And then, sometimes it works as it should. I'm not sure how to reproduce it. But yeah, something weird is going on with the chanting it seems.

Great work, thanks! Gotta say, these are fantastic. There's obviously not a huge impact on the game but the number of backgrounds, plus the variations, plus the biography filling itself up really creates an environment for... setting up a character. I really hope they continue with this in the sequel.

I read Roadside Picnic about half a year ago and I cannot for the life of me see what people find so brilliant in it. Perhaps it was a groundbreaker when it came out but I found it to be pretty mediocre honestly. Had hella high expectations though, maybe that was it. But I was very disappointed in it all-in-all. Then I read Canticle for Leibowitz afterwards which quickly turned out to be one of my best reading experiences ever. Anyways, watched About Schmidt yesterday. Very good. Nicholson is extremely good. One of those instances where you go "oh hey, it's *that* actor" and then he just... becomes the character and you kinda forget that you're watching "*that* actor".

Feedback: Forge Knights
Starwars replied to a topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I did this on PotD a while back and thought it was good fun. It feels a bit out of place maybe since the rest of the Defiance Bay content is generally pretty easy, but I would rather have the rest of it bumped up in difficulty a bit rather than this fight to be tuned down. -
Just watched it also. Felt like it movies a bit fast but I guess that's just what happens when you try and capture such a time-period and project in such a short amount of time. Would've loved to see more about design and story side of things though, developing classes, the story, companions, the lore and all that. If there's any spare footage of that, put it up as extras! Still, really enjoyed it. Was awesome to see the stuff about music and recording using the local talent. Very cool.

I think the Chanter do need a looking over, particularly the invocations as some of them feel like a no-brainer compared to others. It's also a problematic class in that, when I played on Hard, I really agree with the sentiment that most fights are over quickly enough that you don't really feel like you're getting to make *use* of the Chanter. I'm playing on PotD atm and I feel like Kana is way more useful now with the fights taking longer. But that's where the problems come, because how do you balance the chants when difficulty impacts the time needed for a battle so much? Perhaps lower difficulties should have chants stack up faster (or invocations needing less) so that one could get to make use of invocations more. But I'm not sure if a change like that would feel right on PotD because stuff like the paralyze invocation and summons (Ogres in particular) feel pretty powerful as is.
