  1. 2h is bad for single target dps that is the problem. On potd I use Lord Darron's Voulge any day on fights against multiple enemies but when going against say Ugaizo Guardian or Fampyrs with more hp switch to dual swords because otherwise I would be doing less dps. Yep, I agree DW for big bosses is required, but I'm has some idea, is https://pillarsofeternity.gamepedia.com/Chromoprismatic_Quarterstaff still viable ? I want to do solo PotD without alchemy/arcana with 2H weapon :D If you design an "auto attack" build 2h like that quarterstaff and say the Voulge is good. But it would have to be a "buff build" with a lot of passives to dps boost so you can just auto attack. If you don;t use ability full attacks two handed weapons like that quarter staff could be good. On a side note: even on PotD optimized dual handed sabers do so much damage on an ability hit that frequently I would kill something with the first saber and second saber would not hit anymore and "waste" dps lol.
  2. Updated First post with build info after I completed my run to include adjustments made during the run. Ukaizo **** speedkill: Less Cheese please: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qUb8tIJBh6k&t=41s Also Nemnok here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rZg-TuuTd3k&t=98s

  4. Alright, this is all really good advice. I think I honestly just need to get past the tutorial island on PotD or Veteran before I can really start making this work. And, as I said, I was having my Marauder try to tank instead of building Eder as a tank. I think that has a lot to do with it. Yeah if you playing with a party just pick up a good ranged weapon and be ranged and have Eder tank. You can switch to melee once you have the Devil Of Corac Breastplate or the Bloody Links Chainmail and the Savage Defiance ability then you can be in melee. Maurader is not a tank, it is a rogue with better Aoe damage potential but you should play it like a rogue, but get's some abilities later on like Savage defiance which allows you to face tank for a little bit. sneak up to stuff, don't face tank unless you have to.
  5. I am playing this solo on PotD with Deadly Deadfire mod here: https://forums.obsidian.net/topic/102516-solo-build-the-lightning-sphinx-massive-burst-dd-marauder/ An yes whiteleaf+alchemy is my friend. And Potions of Spirit shield as well Usual sequence if I am to engage in a longer fight against multiple enemies is: 1.)Gouging Eye (rogue 2nd level blind ability) from stealth against their rogue 2.) Frenzy 3.)immediately Savage Defiance once frenzy executes 4.)on top of savage defiance drink a potion of spirit shield 5.) now you're good to go and start dealing dps Note: if a fight is gonna be a challenge I have drugs (Whiteleaf+deadeye) I use before going into the fight. Burst rotation against large boss target like dragon: 1.) Sprint - that's right put a lot of distance between you and that thing so you have time to buff 2.) drink a bunch of potions (spirit shield/ +to defenses, + to crit chance and a poison which is optional) 3.) Shadowing beyond - go into stealth 4.) hit the boss and follow with standard ability rotation Frenzy+savage defiance and attack - hopefully it dies soon As you see you kind of need to hit level 10 to get good defensive abilities like savage defiance. Things I now have regularly on my item bar in addition to Deadeye and Whiteleaf+ -Potion of Spirit Shield -Regular Health Potion -Scroll of Moonwell -Posion of choice (Stone joint)
  6. Honostly Griffon Blade + Mordwyr is really strong considering you get 50% daze on crit with Griffon and a bunch of other nice perks, + action speed....that is the combo I used soloing the fampyr cave so I wanted some form of cc effect on the weapon I used+good damage and griffon blade was perfect for that, although it is not a saber. If you get intellect immunity from something else other than Mordwyr consider Atris + Griffon blade and all the hit to crit passives you can take. Another interesting combo would be something like Atris+ The Last Word (disable enemy abilities for 3 sec on crit). but it is lower dps. Not a fan of Tarns respite to be honost, just feels the +10% hit to crit on Atris especially in conjunction with passives can get you some nice on crit combos with something else like Griffon or The Last Word.
  7. You can split pull with sparks or traps on upper level of dig site there are choke points where only one enemy mob can attack you tank at a time on gorecci street you should start killing the group on the right side of the map (mage is priority) from the right side behind the house - that way you have natural los and the other looter group if they come for you will have to go through the slog zone and be slow that you have time to deal with the mage and rogue in the right group.
  8. Athletics, Survival, Streetwise, Intimidate, Bluff are used a lot. Metaphysics, Insight and Stealth as well to a lesser extent. Those are for scripted encounter checks.
  9. rogue has I win button in shadowing beyond as long as there is a place on the map (at edge) to where enemies don't see. you have to have enough survivabiity+dps though to quickly down an enemy then stealth out, reset combat and repeat. it is a chore though.
  10. yes it definitely does as long as long as you damage yourself with the Voulge or a lightning lash weapon. that was one of the specific things I tested to see how that helm works with any lightning weapons equipped. It will obviously make create a bigger percentage lash from the voulge if it attacks as lightning - when the enemy has less shock ar than slash ar and your are under frenzy to damage yourself. it is a bit situational as such but it still adds good dps to the build when it works. especially in the end with high hit to crit conversion and boltcatcher gloves. Edit: this is why I specifically went to that dragon to get this lightning lash saber now: https://pillarsofeternity.gamepedia.com/Aldris_Blade_of_Captain_Crow Aldris blade of Captain Crow Because it has a consistent shock lash Ok, I think I understand better now. I thought you were referring to the constant Raw damage (2 per second I think) that you get from Berserker frenzy -- I thought you were saying it changed from Raw to other types based on the weapon that you were wielding. But that must not be what you meant, since that number wouldn't be higher if you were hitting larger groups of enemies. You must mean that you are damaging yourself with weapon hits, and I assume those are Carnage hits you are talking about. So you hit yourself with Carnage when you are Frenzied as a Berserker? I didn't know that. Have you confirmed this with the saber and not with the Voulge? Because you could be damaging yourself with the Voulge not by its regular attacks but by triggering Static Charge AoEs that hit yourself. Yeah looks like only the Voulge is triggering the buff. Can't get it to work on the saber unfortunately
  11. Attaching to show the lash in this case +133% since I was fighting a bunch of adds with the voulge. In such a situation it builds up quickly. As for stealth and frenzy, any action will break stealth, so if you want to get an assassinate hit under frenzy you should start fight, hit frenzy, hit shadowing beyond and then go for the barbaric blow out of stealth, but yes if you do that it does massive damage thanks to assasinate.

  13. Fire Dragon at lvl 12 solo kill: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xEyJyPYMnL8&feature=youtu.be I was rushing to get the lightning saber I need for the build and realized if you skip Hasango and just go to Ashen Maw you just meet Eothas there....I wonder how this will effect Hosango dialogs. Fire Dragon Magran's Teeth No Poison cheese version ... the power of the Voulge! special thanks to Socrates though +20 health per kill https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b2PTeYUKJ8k
  14. Problem is not potions and scrolls but that the scaling on alchemy and arcana is still out of whack. Just reduce the scaling by 50-60 percent and it should be fine. But in general, it is true that scroll spells should be lesser versions of the real thing the actual classes with those abilities get otherwise it is kind of trivial that say a fighter with high arcana can cast the same spell as a wizard.
  15. nice video and yes some potions and poisons with high alchemy are op but they are a necessary tool if you play a melee toon. Personally, Guardian of U is not really the hardest fight in PotD upscaled at the moment. I will do a run with a melee rogue/zerker but from my deadly deadfire hardcore run with full party the hardest fights were in no particular order but all more difficult: -Druids of Bentwood bog on Sayuka -Lucia Rivan and taking her ship -The Rotten Lady and her friendz -Animancer spire top at end of VTC quest -Killing the queen and her company at the end of RDC questline at top of palace in Nekataka those five come to mind. yeah but they are optional fights I guess but all present more challenging obstacles to deal with than Ukaizo thanks to multiple dangerous enemies you can't split
  16. I played two games with ciphers a quick run and full run. one single class one multi. In both cases I think it is safe to say ciphers can be excellent support roles on the team - the second guy who charms enemy mobs and also buffs tanks and frontliners. That is especially true considering they have technically ythe best "heal" in the game in pain block because they can cast it any ammount of times in a set battle. They are not the best choice for for pure dps though even with their soul whip. they are good at control and not damage so if you image you want to be "the dps guy" just play rogue/barbarian or scout. any martial class really lol. playing them solo in potd is possible though - you turtle up, buff your defensives and accuracy and just use charms to win.
  17. fix rest as follows: 1.)on any map you enter like a swamp/dungeon or forest if you rest you will be ambushed 100% of the time as long as the instance is not cleared of enemies 2.)also resting in the wild even with food gives a small penalty to stats since you are in "unsafe" conditions 3.)enemies respawn in a "dungeon" instance should you leave the area without clearing all monsters point 1 and 2 should be standard, point 3 optional just like level scaling.
  18. Can you add this guy? Thanks: https://forums.obsidian.net/topic/102516-solo-build-the-lightning-sphinx-massive-burst-dd-marauder/ "Lightning Sphinx" Subclasses: Berserker/ Assassin Description: Self-buffing Lightning lash Marauder Author: 1TTFFSSE Game Version: 1.1.0.0035 Difficulty: POTD Solo: yes
  19. I know can say just "don't use them" and don't be a scrub that way but they are there and gave some interesting effects. Plus I do believe using figurines to delay aggro is not in itself a bad exploit strat or more say the use of a scroll to cc groups is also good, but right now you don't have to fight if your party just all uses summons from figurines and there are damage arcana scrolls that still clear whole encounters or at least 1/2 health with one scroll. And alchemy is known to scale too well with poison attacks. I would say decrease durations of summons from figurines by 75% and decrease scroll spell damage by 50%. that way proper classes can be built which rely on their abilities to clear the game and not items.
  20. Full run, played aggressively and cleared everything there is to kill with a few exceptions. Kept same party after getting to Nekataka. PotD, upscaled and with Deadly Deadfire hardcore version but with the standard mod modifier to enemy health, which is already something like +30%. Big nerf to xp gain though is why I finished at level 19 but killed almost everything lol. Watcher Witch - 295K, Amiina's Legacy and Lord D Voulge as main weapons Maia Geomancer - 156K, Blightheart, Spearcaster and later Dual Scepters when vs pierce immune, but lower dps than my main 2 dps since she was also doing cc Pallegina Herald - 20K (she was healer primarily) - I liked the Saint Omakku's Warbow on her mostly or sword and shield when forced to be defensive also her pets like wyrms and drakes dealt damage while she was healing Ydwin - Rogue - 215K, dual wield Grave Calling and the other ice sabre Konstenten Howler - 33K tank - Shards of Woedica and various shields, he just had to debuff stuff and not die Most difficult fights imo without using op broken alchemy/arcana cheese or generally unbalanced items in this version: Can't really determine order but these three come to mind: -Animancer tower top platform at end of Vaillain questline -Lucia Rivan boat fight -The Queen of Nekataka at end of RDC questline Those are end game fights with little room to maneuver/ pull and reseet fight - you have to duke it out so to speak Nemnok, Guardian of U and other stuff was easy compared to those three.
  21. Spells are actually balanced in terms of damage. casting time though could be a bit faster, like 33 percent faster. Scroll/Arcana use, on the other hand, is still too strong. no need to use real spells when scrolls are way stronger and faster to use on a high arcana character at the moment. Also to the poster above 70 damage may not be much but on a group of adds it is quite a bit if you hit 5-8 enemies at once.
