  1. if you want heavy illusion roleplay I guess go Wael+Wizard or Wael+Trickster. If you want heavy fire/damage go Wael+Paladin or Wael+Druid? maybe?
  2. if you are a squishy low defelction thing like a berserker or helwalker it can be a pain at low levels until you get some defensives. for fighter/paladin/chanter types it should be no problem to be up front though.
  3. Current party playthrough I tweaked my Holy slayer into a Templar Wael/Bleak Walker. I give up riposte on any weapon but I can still: -use Whispers of the Endless Paths if I want to riposte against enemies in an aoe -still have all the deflection buffs now from Wael instead of trickster to allow retaliate to work -get more and better fire aoe spell attacks through Priest which get progressively stronger at higher levels - so I get even more mileage out of the fire ring, Magran's Favor and sun+moon
  4. If I was rolling an assassin it would be around 2 weapons: either kitchen stove or eye of wael. for kitchen stove I would probably just go ascendant as second class mentioned. Open out of stealth with thunderous report to get max focus and kill/cripple half the enemies in a pack outright and then clean up with cipher spells. or make a high crit build around eye of wael so I would stealth again in combat on crits consistently without using smoke cloud of shadowing. secondary class there would be either berserker for frenzy crits +attack speed., sharpshooter for driving flight, or devoted again for more crits. also definitely hearth orlan to get more crits, try to get crit % up to 40+. Also there is a helm in port maje (Death's Maw) which easily neutralizes assassin's penalty to taking extra damage.

In theorycrafting maybe dual-wield sabre etc or aoe builds around Lord Darryn's Voulge or Wahai Poroga are strong but as I said in real-game terms in potd (especially with difficulty mod) you can't just make a glass cannon melee and expect them to do damage and be survivable enough without investing in some way into at least breastplate armor, some constitution and some resolve (devil of carroc for example) - so they have a longer recovery vs a 0% armor ranged dd. Add to that strong accuracy items for ranged like marksman ring and acina's trihorn and a powerful ranged weapon and the ranged dd will be more efficient as long as it's not rushed by enemy mobs. add aoe spells from wizard, cipher or priest at higher levels to the equation and the low armor, min con/resolve, high dex, high might ranged damager will run away with it usually.
  6. given "decent" good builds ranged dps should outdamage melee toons all else things being equal because: -as ranged you usually have light armor or no armor and faster recovery than melee who need at least some minimal defenses -as ranged you usually get the first shot/damage out in any encounter while melee is still running towards the target to engage -ranged have better in game items to increase damage: marksman's ring, acina's trihorn, not to mention so pretty powerful weapons like The Red Hand, Amiinaa's Legacy bow, or dual wield Scordeo's Trophy+Kitchen Stove or one of the two Aoe Blunderbusses that said a melee streetfighter/berserker or melee streetfighter/helwalker can give anyone a run for their dps numbers and come up on top sometimes. but even in that has a ranged streetfigher/wizard (minor blights), streetfighter/ranger (driving flight aoe stuff), streetfighter/ascendant (machine gun of mind blades/amp waves) will probably be hard to beat.
  7. Eoten belt dropped for me on one of the islands I did for the mapmaker quests some area but I do not recall where anymore. Never found the bracers.

On a ranged streetfighter I find I can get bloodied (and get the bonus) fairly quickly by using dual scepters and the sceptre modal. on ranged it works as you typically don't take too much damage, and once you are bloodied you get the streetfighter bonus as when you are flanked but you don't get penalties to accuracy.

  11. tried fury/cipher - was clunky even with bonus penetration to all spells through cipher. individually the classes are decent put there is limited synergy shifter/soulblade or shifter ascendant is good from what I hear if you want to gen focus from spirit shift and afterward do soul annihilation or use spells in ascendant form.
  12. That makes sense! But someone said they still had the main quest for Hosongo after they did Ashen Maw, even though they essentially skipped a step. Do we know what happens then? I assume Eothas doesn't talk to you there at that point. yes he does you can optionally do Hasonga after Ashen Maw but the conversation with Eothas will be the same - Eothas is in Ashen Maw basically throughout the whole game as well as probably in Ukaizo by "level design", it is a scripted interaction that does not change based on order you do the stuff in. I would not be surprised if Eothas is in Ashen Maw even after you reach Ukaizo in the end game and cheat/teleport out somehow. In Ashen Maw they try to prevent you from accessing the area again when you are inside the fire keep by creating a gap in the entrance map that the bridge/path there collapsed for instance, but you can use bounding boots to leap across the gap.
  13. yeah you can do that and it "forwards" the game. ashen maw is not restricted in any way same as ukaizo. basically everything in the game is optional including hasongo, if you just buy the right ship upgrades and have a crew you can go directly to ukaizo too. some faction quests though have their own pattern and yeah going to ashen maw asap will unlock those last faction quests and I think you can do them and not even do Hosango.

Strongest ranged dps at the moment is: streetfighter/x class (x class = whatever you want but good choices are bleakwalker, helwalker, ascendant, berserker, sharpshooter, devoted) you will use one of the better blunderbusses in the game, kitchen sink or fire in the hole (or dual wield one with Scordeo's pistol) and use blunderbuss+pistol modal for insane fast attacks and recovery thanks to streetfighter flanked bonuses. naturally you can use stuff like escape (rogue) to get to the enemy's backline and snipe them. after the rogue variant (streetfighter) the best ranged dps class is still lol-zerker, even though you give up a lot of nice melee capability of berserker's carnage but hey at range it's still great berserker/x class (again, good choices are bleakwalker, helwalker, ascendant, berserker, sharpshooter, devoted) instead of blunderbuss modal or streetfighter, you will just rely on good old frenzy for attack speed, damage and penetration bonuses. works very well with bows (that unique hunting bow in particular) as you are not restricted to using a blunderbuss and the hunting bow is the best single target dps in this setup while something like Frostseeker would combine well with sharpshooter driving flight for more aoe hits. Berserker comes with with some good movement abilities (speed/leap) and defense (savage defiance). Speed or leap can be used to maneuver to back liners and back, while savage defiance makes you a bit more tanky in a pinch should enemies start going for your toon.
  16. Mind Blades if you have to choose. You will use it more in the game than recall agony. Yeah switch between blunderbuss and pistols - but getting acina's trihorn and marksman ring is really fast, basically once you are off strating island you can get them and then you should have enough accuracy.

Streetfighter and blunderbuss modal is brokenly op, I tested it against a well built helwalker/ascendant and the streetfighter variant will probably rack up 30-40% more damage over the course of the game thanks to attack speed and sneak attack bonuses. Best damage combos for cipher so far I tested are: 1.) Streetfighter/Ascendant 2.) Berserker/Ascendant 3.) Helwalker/Ascendant these are ranged builds. Berserker/Cipher may be able to sort of keep up with the ranged Streetfighter / Mindstalker as long as the Witch is played in melee range and use stuff like one stands alone and some other damage boosting passives - Witch is really a stronger melee rather than ranged weapon character, but at range the Mindstalker is too good.
  18. the first island is rough basically even on vanilla potd and you have to really put heavy armor on your tank, use charm/cc spells and pull enemy packs separately, try to split them. But after the first island game gets easier as you level up/eventually out-level encounters. like catacombs bellow temple of barath for instance - it is a hard area if you are sub level 8 or so to do. If you are over 10/12 it is pretty straightforward. same with storm of poka kohara quest - at level 8-9 it is a challenge, but above lvl 10 it is not bad.
  19. Yes it shows it is 1/rest if you right?click on the description of the abilities on the cloak. Also since it is 1/rest I tend not to use those items anymore just because I don't want to rest after every encounter.

It is definitely simplistic at the moment and the two big STAT culprits are: -not enough accuracy/ to hit variation between ships - like a voyager is almost the same chance to hit in combat as a big fat galleon. -not enough speed/maneuver variation between small and large sips. again like the above point. also as an aside, enemy ship ai needs to learn jibe tactics. like right now you just get a junk, load it up both sides with double bronzers and win in 2-5 turns every combat on average. that really has to be looked at. but the junk/galleon loaded with double bronzers is overkill actually at the moment and expensive. you can do the same effect right now on a Dhow for much cheaper just get the red dream hull to get the hull hp up to near galleon levels.
  21. It is a really good weapon on a tank because of the immune to flanking and action speed and the bonus accuracy with the modal - makes rapier+great shield actually an ok combo to turtle up. Only problem sometimes is the penetration on pierce with the rapier. Also I guess streetfighters don't want to use it because of the immune to flanking.
  22. Why doesn't this make you inspired to fill in the gap. Play it, make it work, then tell us how by posting your experiences. We would love to hear about it. The next player who logs in to these forums feels the same way as you do now, "I want to try a Caster + Caster Multiclass, who can give me advice?" And we simply reply, go read Melusina's guides, she always know how to make them work. So, go fill those gaps, we know you can do it!!! The problem, is that for each caster + caster combinaison you're talking about, there is a martial + caster MC that do better. Sorcerer? A trickster + shifter will just be better and you can cast the illusions spell while in beast form, and you have all rogues passives + rogues skills that combo with your forms. Same with ciphers, the passives help to boost a martial class not another caster (+1pen with weapons, + x% weapon dmg). You can have some synergy with a shifter/wizard buff/weapons, but less effective than with another martial class with more passives and active weapon attacks. The lack of passives is a problem. I'm not even sure cipher spells work well with other caster passives (and vis versa) because of the keywords (Cipher spells only have mind, deception, echo, shred keywords, lack the element keywords, so no synergie ?). Another problem with caster in general, martial classes have cool effect with weapons & items that modify their active abilities : use a weapon with an AOE and all your martial abilities do now AOE dmg. Caster really lack some metamagic modifiers. Same martial classes have lot of passives that proc stuff on critic, kill, hit etc... The magic system feel really rigid in comparaison. The level 1 cipher passive +1 penetration with spells works for all spells not just cipher, but the other passives do not ie the +10 will spell accuracy does not work with non cipher spells. Also I tested how it would be to get focus from non cipher spells in that I changed some druid spells to "treat as weapon" - and the result is too good as these are aoe/ over time attacks which pretty much guarantee that you are at max focus after 1 spell, so it has to be balanced differently and not just 1 point spell damage = 1 point of cipher focus.

Looks like a fun build: my only little nitpick is the sustainability of damage through per encounter spells, because in say in the ingame Ukaizo fight is multi stage as you will have to kill 3 big targets Ukaizo and the 2 Titans - it is a long fight unless you use invisibility potion trick to reset. And any other encounters the game that are designed to be lengthy - there are not many that are in game at the moment though. Fire Dragon is respectably hard with deadly deadfire mod and may be immune to fire? At lower level before you get lol priest storm something like the lighthouse on Hosango may be difficult too unless you equip defensive things or so if you can kill stuff fast with barring death's door on, or just level up past 16 to make take on that fight when you have salvation of time.
  24. honestly, if you are really concerned on a minimum resolve toon about aggro you craft a few invisibility potions and always carry them in your belt slot. at the start of scary encounters like ship boarding etc when you know the toon will be rushed you drink the potion, position yourself somewhere at the back and let everyone else engage and then unload your attacks. works every time.
  25. Use aoe weapon like whispers of endless paths/ or wahai paroga when doing aoe vs 4+ targets. If targets drop bellow 3 switch to dual wielding or something like voidwheel i guess you can also spam torments reach
