I've gone to make Eder a dual pistol Rogue, Aloth a bow-using Spellblade, Pallegina a 2 cannon-bluss wielding Crusader, and Maia a rifle-scout. I have set their AI to always use Escape when enemies get close to them (or Charge in Pallegina's case). While I am a frontliner. It works out pretty well. Pallegina is my only "healer" but that's not really her main role. It's more that Charge will always do the AOE blasts from the unique cannon-like blunderbusses and her Sacred Flames and Penetrating shot means she'll be firing for days.

You'll take those starting abilities and ****ty attribute scores and like them! Popular defenses of this stupid practice: 1) Stop acting so entitled, just enjoy the game! 2) The companions are higher level than custom ones so it's ok! 3) Just use mods! 4) Just use console commands, achievements don't matter! 5) Developer choices matter more than your gaming experience! 6) You might choose attributes/abilities that don't fit the character! 7) I can complete the game on POTD without optimized attributes/abilities! And many more It doesn't really help anyone to strawman people's arguments. I may even agree with you, but this isn't helpful feedback.

I'm not sure if you guys are just doing the critical path or not, but I'm playing PotD and I am having some troubles in a lot of the optional areas. I'm not sure if that has to do with the fact that I set the level scaling to only upward or if there's something else going on. Maybe I just suck at the game I don't know. Although I only played the first game on the same difficulty and didn't try any of the easier difficulties using the same strategies so I don't know. It appears to be challenging enough although I'm only level 8 or 9 at the moment.

If you look under reputations, that's one of her quirks. Xoti gets all mad at her I guess for having it.

So, I have Xoti in my party. I have a 0 reputation with her. I did her side-quest and made her really like the dark. All makes sense that she's super creepy now. I barely just added Pallegina to the party, and she starts screaming at her about her anti-religious ways. Then she starts going on about how she has feelings for Eder... Even though Eder has been nothing but cold to her all game. Then she starts hitting on me! Even though I have a 0 reputation with her. I don't know if this is on-purpose or not given the end of her side-quest. But it seems like events are just triggering for her really fast, and I don't know if this is on purpose or a bug in the game?

So, I want to use my Flame of Devotion to attack only marked targets. But I can't seem to find where the condition is for that. I can only prioritize it, but that just means that he'll still use the abilities even on non-marked targets. If I want to use Sworn Enemy on an enemy that isn't already effected by that, I have to do it manually. Am I missing it? The only thing I have been doing is putting a timer on them for now, but it's still not perfect.

There's no passives or buffs in the Cipher tree that really make it worth it. The 4-5 second recovery time on most skills makes them really not worth using. I guess the Soul Whip is cool, but I don't know if it's worth the hassle of the lower power levels vs a pure paladin.

I decided to try a Bleak Walker/Soul Blade. But man I am hating it. I end up just picking up the paladin stuff and ignoring the Cipher almost completely. Kinda not what I wanted out of the class. The Soul Annihilation is nice when I run out of Paladin abilities, but I feel like this combo is just not doing for me. The Cipher abilities just have way too long of a recovery time to make them worth it.

Isn't Bleak Walker mainly damage anyhow? Flames of Devotion/Soul Blade sound pretty devastating on a melee build.

What makes you think that the point of the Inquisitor is for tankiness? There doesn't seem to be anything special with the combo vs single class Paladin that makes them more tanky.
