  1. Dammit, does this mean I have to pre-order L.A Noire...
  2. You never know if some DS3 boycotter decides to smash you with your DS3 copy
  3. I never joke. I'm currently on the bus to Kuopio. Clearly I need to smash dvds in Kuopio as well. Find me when you reach Kaposv
  4. I never joke. I'm currently on the bus to Kuopio. Clearly I need to smash dvds in Kuopio as well.
  5. I'm taking this to next level. I just raided every gaming store in Jyv
  6. Wasn't his location previously Big MT?
  7. Reading that thread reminded me of why normal people shouldn't bother reading Bethesda forums. They are all pretty much slashing their wrists and "giving up" on FNV because they aren't spammed with information on the dlcs... Anyways, if Old World Blues is released on 3rd of May, that's lovely. Just before L.A Noire and DS3
  8. You know nothing my Estonian brother. World goverment is only a puppet goverment for the cheese loving aliens that live on the moon (which is made of cheese).
  9. I don't think it's much of :tinfoil: Gaming industry is a huge business and with that I'm 100% sure it shares some of the corruption and shady deals pretty much every else business on this planet has. The fact that most of the reviewers don't get paid much makes it sooo much easier. Also if you look at gaming magazines and websites, most of the advertising in them are for games and movies by gaming companies / companies that own a gaming studio&movie studio. They won't write checks of 5k, that way they would actually get caught. Advertising, invitations to media events with paid tickets etc. are the way to go. Even few negative reviews can make a difference, now that some of the companies are using metacritic avg score as one of the criterias to pay royalties. Not to mention the effect it has on sales and stock exchange (Homefront & THQ). Maybe I'm "old" and bitter, but I'm not that naieve any longer that I expect everyone to play fairly in the sandbox.
  10. Bull**** and you're a bad person for believing it. 4 DLCs have been confirmed so far. I imagine that if the DLCs are massively successful Bethesda will greenlight some more, but it's highly unlikely. Who says I believed in them rumours? I just remember reading them Unless they have a Fallout game under works I could see Bethesda greenlighting few more dlcs after the initial 4. Since it will take them some time to get another Fallout game out and they might want to keep a steady stream of revenue coming from Fallout titles. Naturally the initial 4 dlcs need to sell adequately.
  11. I would imagine some of them are/were in different phases of production. Knowing the history of bugs with pretty much every DLC so far released for Fallout by Bethesda, I hope they are spending enough time crushing bugs. And also weren't the rumours about dlc 5 and 6 a well? At least I remember reading some comment about those on Fallout wikia.
  12. Or maybe they are planning on using that part of the game to promote it via another bunch of previews just before the game comes out maximizing the amount of press they can get. That's what I would personally do. You never want to give away everything at once to the press, or else they won't have anything to write about your game when it's close to shipping out. And with the amount of titles coming out each month it's pretty crucial to keep a steady stream of publicity to reach the masses.
  13. Gaming journalists don't make much money. In the most recent edition of Pelit magazine they mentioned that a gaming journalist in UK makes about 13k euros a year. I would consider it quite easy to bribe people who make only 13k a year. Not to mention half of the damn reviews are done by more or less bad websites. Why would someone bribe them to do negative reviews? Easy. It leaves a stain on the brand&developer name and thus helping their own RPG division to shine. Not to mention if there's few AAA games coming out around the same time it will give your game a nice boost if the competitors are given much less points in the reviews. Did something like that happen? Who knows. It's no secret some companies throw away a lot of money at the press people via advertising and events. Not to mention give them exclusives...
  14. i guess your right, I tried playing oblivion again the other day.... I don't think there is a single branching quest in the entire game. I think there were few. Can't remember any of them though as it has been ages since I last played that game.
  15. Totally expected this and not that it matters at all. If you look at Dragon Age 2 and it's PEGI 18 rating... All the unnecessary blood, exploding enemies and few short "sex" scenes. I can totally survive without those
  16. Why you keep mentioning the writing when it's pretty clear that I never was referring to that? While I don't agree with virumor that Fallout 3 has much better quests than Fallout: New Vegas, he's right that there is some very good design there, and he has mentioned some examples. How about counteracting them, instead of just rebutting with "BAD WRITING BETHESDA BAD"? Seriously, guys, it's not that difficult, point the design choices you didn't like and say how F:NV did better in that regard. As for Vince, he's the man behind Age of Decadence and a long-time Codexian. Basically the guy who wrote the Dragon Age 2 review many here praised. I guess I need to read this review then. Why I mention the writing? Because in my opinion writing is a huge part of the actual quest design. Even if the initial design is superb you can pretty much ruin it with bad writing. It leaves a bad aftertaste even if you liked the design behind the quest. Yes, Reilly's Rangers started in a nice way, but that quest just lead into a massacre. Didn't bother finding the android because androids seemed as fitting for Fallout world as idiots running around as superheroes, Harold made into a tree or talking deathclaws. Didn't find the Key quest, must have been already bored out of my mind at that point of the game and just finished the damn game. Or maybe I just shot Crowley, can't remember. But according to wiki atleast that quest was fleshed out nicely. But then again for every well done quest in the game there was another one that was just plain retarded. For example: The Superhuman Gambit, all the quests involving those little kids as the whole place made no sense at all. How in hell are they surviving next to a super mutant base in the first place? Where do they come from and why would they choose to rub it in our faces as a design choice that we can't kill these annoying kids... And not to mention the design choice to make handing out water to beggars nullify all the bad things you might have done in the quests. As for Fallout: New Vegas. Yes some of the quests were simple fedex quests and just involved traveling from place to place, but the amount of sidequests is huge if compared to FO3. You won't run out of quests immediately, there's something do for hours and hours (other than just exploring for exploring's sake). And there were lot of gems as well: Come Fly With Me, Beyond the Beef and G.I Blues for example. It's only natural that not all of the quests are as long as the examples I use. They had a limited to work on the game after all. Beyond the Beef had lots of c&c with three different ways to finish a pretty long sidequest. And the most important part (atleast for me) good writing. How can you not like a quest where a meat baron's child is to be fed to a bunch high society cannibals
  17. Now I only need to know who Vince D. Weller is.... That "vampire" quest was only long because half the time you spent getting lost in the damn metro tunnels. Even Oblivion was better written than Fallout 3 and I hate Oblivion.
  18. I somewhat agree. There's plenty of good quests who are marred either by a disingenuous use of the engine (making you trek through areas with a lot of loading screens) and some quests who just are too thin on content. That said, many quests were entertaining for their writing at least the first time, and the way they intertwine makes them more bearable than the usual fetch quest. But I definitely longed for meatier sidequest, a-l
  19. Since Finland helped you greeks with your finances. I demand a copy of this demo.
  20. Yeah pretty much, but WUE has a point, it's not clear. But I think it will become clearer as time and marketing will go buy, some people are going to be turned off, others will be attracted, I think everything will go well in the end. The thing is it's pretty much impossible to predict how a game will fare, since so much rides on whether the marketing manages to get people's attention or not, when your game is coming out (not a week after a massive hit game like RDR) and the damn reviews that are pretty biased half the time. Unless of course your game is a sequel to massive hit game or made by one of few companies that pretty much everyone seems to love And I reckon the DS fans will have the same response as Fallout fans had about Fallout 3. Some liked it, even loved it and some hated it for numerous reasons.
  21. I joined last year. Also I'd be hard pressed to call NeoGAFfers and goons people that are only interested in games that look spectacular and are either made by Rockstar or Blizzard, but whatever, dude. Also, if the audience Obsidian aims is that of people that liked the Dark Alliance games and their fans, then the sales are going to be disappointingly small. I'm not saying the game is going to be bad, but it was an hybrid, and it's difficult for hybrid to hit the sweet spot. So far, signs point at Obsidian not hitting it. I'm well aware of that People who post on forums are a huge minority though when it comes to people who actually buy the games. And you didn't really mention which forums you were talking about. Last time I bothered to check NeoGaf (or whatever it is called) the topic got into your normal argument about Obsidian: "OMG they ruined kotor, hate them forever just for it!!11" and with bunch of people saying the opposite... What signs? Few random haters and fans of DS1&2 posting on forums and claiming how Obsidian is ruining DS and how every game they make is buggy? In the end those forum posters won't matter at all. The initial reviews will pretty much decide the game's fate. Let's say the game gets about 88 average metacritic with pretty much every review claiming it to be fun game to play with your friend as local co-op. There's a lack of (proper and fun) hack&slash rpg's on consoles ever since BG:DA2. And boom, there's your sweet spot. As long as people are willing to pay for the game and not just pirate it because they already got L.A Noire that month...
  22. Fans of their games and those who enjoyed Dark Alliance games on xbox? Your average forum posters are only intrested in games that look spectacular and are either made by Rockstar or Blizzard or have the words Call of Duty in it. I think you've been saying that since 2007 or something like that and they are still going strong
  23. Huh, what?!
  24. It's up to Bethesda when to release such info
