  1. They had quite big update for today already + twitch stream. It's wise to save the next stretch goal for the next day with both Adam and Josh being busy with the twitch stream when said 2.4 million mark was actually reached.

  3. John Lewis is doing things that will blow your mind. A typical day at Obsidian. I'm working on something in my office and I see John Lewis flashing a devilish grin at me through the glass of my closed door. He opens the door and sheepishly asks, "Do you want to see something cool?" Being the ever-eloquent linguist I reply, "****, yeah". Minutes later, sporting the same grin John was just rocking, I go by Sawyer's office and I'm like, "Dude, cruise by Lewis' office". Josh's eyes light up cuz he knows some fancy-pants, John Lewis magic is afoot. Minutes later Josh is walking passed my office with a new spring in his step and an emphatic nod, looking like he just crushed the question in Final Jeopardy. Something tells me we won't be seeing this anytime soon
  4. But still for some reason plenty of people ask for a New Game+ mode into every game. If they don't have it, these people will moan like there's no tomorrow. So from Devs POV it's makes sense to add such mode into the game and since it's optional it won't harm those who don't want such travesty ruining their game
  5. Okay, so Adam confirmed me few people I managed to recognize from the Fig video and few people I stalked from well, wherever. Added 12 names to the list.
  6. They are doing just fine. I guess you weren't around or can't remember the last time? It is always slow(er) during weekends, it picks up from time to time when they have an update etc. They are doing around 100k a day with 17 days left and with the last day push they are looking to make about 1.5-2 million more with the current pace. That doesn't sound bad to me.
  7. It will come eventually. Since they haven't done Portuguese localization before they don't have the contacts for it immediately at hand. I'm sure they don't want to promise to deliver something and then come up short because they chose a bad localization team etc.
  8. Exactly this. They didn't have the luxury of having hours of movies or endless amounts of books that have explained most of the lore to the players over two decades. In such case you need to do some lore dumping, to get the player at least some sense of what happens in the world and what has happened.

  12. You can easily make random encounters meaningful as well and not just random trash mobs.

  14. Yep, you can see the current team on the Fig video. I counted about 47 (unless I remember wrong). Not sure if any Q&A people were in the picture.
  15. This seems to be a bigger team than Eternity 1. I wonder how much Obsidian is budgeting for this -outside of crowdfunding. I'm wondering similar things. What kind of overhaul did the engine receive to justify the staff? Is the staff increase so they can more easily hit a Q1 2018 date? Are there amazing things we don't know, yet? The last two are "most likely." I do hope we see some technical stuff that is mind blowing. Not that the weather and all that from the video aren't impressive. Even without a big overhaul bringing in more artist and animators would help a lot. Meaning they can do more cool stuff, add move variety into monsters, armors, weapons and locales.
  16. I highly doubt they would do an another high fantasy setting, unless some publisher actually pays them do one. Their last 4 games at that point would be in fantasy setting with Pillars 1&2, Pathfinder and Tyranny. That would be kinda shooting themselves in the leg and one could argue that South Park was somewhat of a fantasy game as well. So I'm sure they want to diversify from that traditional fantasy setting.
  17. You know, different people work on the game mechanics and the story. So just because Josh, Dave and Bobby are going through the mechanics it doesn't mean that Carrie, Paul and Megan stop working on the story. Unlike Pillars 1, they actually have had a lot of time to figure these things out. If they were trying to please everyone, they would not remove Vancian spell system. That resulted in so much butthurt the 1st time and they budged and gave Vancian spell system to those whining about it. You say PoE was a mess, yet you whine when they try to correct what you think is a mess. Makes perfect sense?

  19. They have one for Pillars 1 as well, so not really surprising. They have someone they trust to do the localization and metrics that show how many units they've sold due to the localization.

  21. I rather spam same spells than be forced into resting constantly due to running out of useful spells. Vancian spell system + random ambushes during rest period = save&load spamming. PoE didn't have those random ambushes, but I remember them from Baldur's Gate and everytime I wanted to punch someone in the face for coming up with that design.
  22. I for one won't miss Vancian spell system. It was more of a drag and the main reason why I was forced to rest with my party as I was running out of spells to use. Especially on lower levels it's really annoying game mechanic. Yes, it removes one tactical layer from the game, but at the same time empowerment adds one. This system sounds like it's funnier to play the game instead of running back to town and fetching more camping supplies because you just happened run out of such before some harder encounter where you need all of your spells.
