  1. Well, that's not too bad then. At least it's not Neverwinter Nights, amirite?
  2. To be fair, people seem to really like Empire Strikes Back pretty well and it does the same thing (ie it doesn't resolve anything set up in the film). I didn't complain about lack of resolution. ESB has a climax. I dunno, in terms of climax, I think the revelation of the Deathly Hollows (which pretty much all of the wandering in the wilderness was leading to) followed immediately by the capture/escape worked fine. In ESB its the capture of Han/escape from Cloud City followed by the revelation of Luke-Vader's relationship. Same thing essentially, but reverse order. In both cases the denouement consists of the heroes going to lick their wounds while the villains stand triumphant In ESB it was the shootout escape and extensive lightsaber fight. That was the climax of ESB. The fight near the end of DH Pt 1 was pitiful.
  3. I could like Skyrim as a setting.
  4. I thought the point of Martin was that he was the most secret bastard and the rest of them were probably deaded. Aside that, I'm not sure "person as Macguffin" seems like a thrilling idea to me. That was the least interesting aspect of Oblivion's narrative, after all. But the more boring part of Oblivion wasn't the narrative, but the way too traditional european fantasy setting with minor greco-roman/norse lipservice. Not that more significant norse aspects would have made it any better, I'm not a fan of that either. But that's just me. Edit: Scratch that. The most boring part of Oblivion was the repetitive nature of environments. Like the Oblivion gates, which would be fascinating as a single area you could quest in, but not an area you must revisit repeatedly with only layout differences.
  5. Yeah, I'm not exactly thrilled. I'm all for skipping ahead a few hundred years to see how the world has changed, but Cyrodiil was bleeding boring. Maybe it was just the way they did it. If they don't go the way of (seemingly) copy pasted dungeons without any loot or narrative content, maybe a much similar setting would be more engaging. And if they change their level scaling to something better.
  6. Actually, if you do enough (or maybe just some things in particular), you don't get the invitation.
  7. 100% success isn't required in order to be a worthwhile venture. The majority of traffic violators probably don't get caught, either. Giving up the battle is the first step to making it de facto legal. At that point any and all stigma against the behavior stops existing.

  9. Did you go through the door behind him?
  10. You mean Manny? He tells you he wants you to do something for him before he gives you the info. You should have a quest known as Come Fly With Me. That is the one he gave you.
  11. Hey, after they buy the PC, their electricity, and broadband service, how do you expect them to afford games? Geeze.
  12. Of course they do, in the same way that Bioware fans want emo-romance simulators with pointy ears and fakespeare. OTOH what's wrong with a PA FPS game? Nothing, it would be awesome. After all, Fallout: Tactics was awesome. Using a setting for different genres is fine as long as you are up-front about it (::cough:: McBio ::cough: and not pretend that your new product is in fact an evolution as opposed to a cross-genre spinoff. I would see nothing wrong with a Penny-Arcade FPS. But what does that have to do with Obsidian focusing on churning out new Fallout games? Personally, I really like the diversity that Obsidian has brought.
  13. We discovered a few posts later that it was Pool of Radiance I was thinking of.
  14. It's the .223 pistol from Fallout 1 and 2. Now it's a 5.56, since .223 isn't in the game. It's the only pistol that can use AP rounds, ignoring hand loads, anyway. Supposedly Cowboy should apply to it, but does not from what I hear. Based off the gun from Blade Runner.
  15. Yes, it was a charity thing. A lot of lowlifes went with the minimum $1 requirement which cost the company more than $1 to process while telling how awesome they thought themselves to be, rippping off the company. Shows what kind of people the industry is dealing with. Jokes on them, Paypal waives the fee on charity donations. So as long as the company actually directed all of the money to the charity, no processing.
  16. My inner child is weeping. I understand being happy with New Vegas. I understand wanting more. But the last thing I would like to see is Fallout becoming Call of Duty and Obsidian turning into Infinity Ward or Treyarch. Some people actually want that.
  17. The artwork I don't like is what they did to the Darkspawn. They seemed like melting Orcs before, now it seems kind of like stupid vampires or something. Gone from melty to pale. Which may not be a gigantic difference conceptually. I like most of the rest of the artwork.
  18. I really enjoyed Borderlands. I hate Diablo clones for the most part, I don't care about loot or grinding usually. I think the humor kept me. And the mechanics are solid enough.
  19. I caught it, too. They didn't even try to make a whole movie out of the first part. They just cut a longer movie straight in half. You call that a climax?
  20. Anyone know who is responsible for writing Tabitha and Rhonda?
  21. I could be thinking of a different game. There was some game out there that, when uninstalled, would just erase everything for some reason. Always thought it was ToEE.
  22. Does ToEE still format your drive when you uninstall?
  23. That's it. Just 1.
  24. Dark Messiah was just an awesome game.
  25. Okay, I agree with the point made by this thread, but can you please not spout out cliches like they mean something? It is not what we get. But who we become, what we contribute... that gives meaning to our lives. IF I CAN CHANGE... AND YOU CAN CHANGE... WE CAN ALL CHANGE! -Rocky IV It's a gift... and a curse.
