Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
It's supposed to be by local time. A few regions seem to be missing on that. I've heard that Singapore should have unlocked earlier, but hasn't. And I'm still not clear on if US is all unlocking at the same time or by time zone.

I think that Rybicki Maneuver article was a good one. I tend to side with "ignore scores, read the content," but it makes a good argument for why even that is flawed.

Please tell me that the famous "Bangers and Mash" of english cuisine is not sausages on top of mashed potatoes.

Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
I'm sorry that people feel to objectify their subjective preferences so that I'm a **** for liking x and y, even when I don't even think that one is better than the other. Kind of like I don''t think that Natalie Portman is better than Chris Evans, but I'd still only like to have sex with her. I don't recall anyone pretending their preference was objective. What I have noted is that you have descended into mockery (the sonic boom/falcon punch comment). It's sort of like "hey, have I mentioned that I think dragon shouts are silly today?" We got it, man. Let's move on. Let us let go.

I'm sorry that the idea of godlike creatures altering reality with their words bothers you so much.

Game Crashes after purchasing Treasures of the Sun DLC
What I'd normally do is check the steam forums for similar problems. But their forums are down. You've done everything I could think to suggest. I've heard similar things to this with DLCs from time to time. I don't know if there is one recurring problem or if each time it's something different. I'll try looking again when their forums get up. Edit: Google pulls up nothing.

Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
I think they're trying to channel Morrowind here. There's some definitely reused themes. There's political and house struggles. The player is essentially a living god. And a hint that they're looking for grey morality in the new Empire. And the Thalmor, who aren't really all that grey, but seem interesting enough for behind the scenes plots.

Preloading the very day before is a bit late. If it's not tonight, I don't expect it at all.

Mass Effect 3
The it doesn't matter what you chose and who you killed in the last game, and even though you imported a save from that game we're still going to ignore it. That's a stretch, the game is aware of quite a few decisions and reflects the appropriately, but Leliana's magic rebirth is pretty egregious. They've done worse. Right now, I am more than prepared to believe they are willing to ignore any decision the player makes or reasonably wishes to make.

The it doesn't matter what you chose and who you killed in the last game, and even though you imported a save from that game we're still going to ignore it. I came to a conclusion once after reading an interview with Avellone. To write and design RPGs well, you must be able to DM well. And if someone DMed a P&P RPG where the players killed an NPC only for it to spontaneously show up again, the reasonable response of the players is to throw dice at the DM or yell "ZOMBIE" and stab whatever showed up. Neither of these were options.

Tuesday US, Friday Europe, with exceptions. Starcraft 2, for instance, came out on Tuesday worldwide. Skyrim is coming out Friday for most of the world.

Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Not available before 50. Water walking and breathing are barely useful. Water walking being the better at a rare travel convenience you might use twice per quest line. Feather is useful maybe twice per dungeon. The spells are so situational you might get one or two skill increases per level. So it's going to fall behind, leaving the open spells falling behind as well. Unless you grind it, you won't be able to use open average lock for a very long time. Dispel is useless, nobody casts spells with long enough durations to be worth the mana cost. Soultrap is useful, yes. Reflect and absorb aren't available until late. Detect life before 50 has a pathetic range. Telekensis is borderline useless. It's a general design issue with the game. They're utility and 90% of the game has no use for it. Lockpicking managed to get around this by giving multiple skillups per failed lock. So you can go up 3 times on a single lock and with no gates. But magic has neither of those benefits.

I know the mathematical definition of it, but I doubt that is what people mean when using it on a gaming forum What right do we have to call ourselves nerds if we can't use math terms properly?

Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Why do streams have to be so terrible? Tried watching one stream. NPC: Look in those chests. Streamer: I'll look in the chest. *lists off every item in the chest* This is how he does everything. It's a running commentary of mundane actions and repeating what NPCs tell him nonstop.

The lowest common denominator is not a particular group. It is the trait that all groups share.

I was already set not to buy ME2 because of the stupid system in ME1. But more because of the lame plot, characters, and planet exploration. I'm curious as to how many people use the phrase "catering to the lowest common denominator" without knowing what it actually means.

Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Trying to play Oblivion to get a refresher of what they did wrong and right with it. The leveling system it has is soooo terrible. And the skills just generally aren't well designed. Hopefully the changes they've made will rectify this problem. Mysticism being rolled into alteration can prevent them from both sucking. And maybe they've made illusion useful beyond having to grind frenzy, calm, and light until 50. I think the main reason I pre-ordered Skyrim is because they detached skill increases from stat increases. Yay for being able to cast better spells without grinding conjuration or alchemy.
