What kind of slavehouse are they running there? All the best game studios allow it.

I still like DA2 more than ME3, anyway. I can actually like Dragon Age 2, I just can't praise it and I get annoyed by latter parts of it. The plot wanders too much, the area reuse doesn't even try to look natural (cemented over passageways and a minimap filled with areas you can't access), and a lack of agency that is a disincentive to replay. But the characters grow and have their arcs. They feel appropriate and well thought out, though not all of them are as interesting as even Origins. They still have a role to play and perspectives to give. And however wandering the plot may be, it's thematically consistent for the most part, down to the ending. If you can get past the lack of agency that even allows for those themes to recur throughout the game.

Sterling talked about it as being outdated, or some equivalent term. But gave a plus that there's stat growth and gun customization. So I guess you can improve that.

Ever? Like, as a principle? That seems bizarre. I played III and Vice City before deciding sandbox car theft was simply too much rehash. And it wasn't until Red Dead Redemption and Just Cause 2 that I felt that was changing. GTA IV I got on extreme sale and thought it still failed to really advance from III, let alone approach the competition of Saint's Row III or Sleeping Dogs. None of it's making me establish a rule about "never ever."

They are amusing games to play. I've also wanted another game like this ever since I beat Sleeping Dogs. I liked Sleeping Dogs. But I liked it a lot for the combat. I liked Saint's Row IV, where I got VTOL and attack choppers. infamous where you get super powers. Maybe the three protagonist structure can make this one stand apart. I hear Trevor is funny, which is something I recall GTA IV also lacking to the degree I desired.

Nobody's interested in ideas. Everytime I say that, which has been many times, I always fear someone taking it harshly. Thinking I think their idea is stupid. But it doesn't matter if it's stupid or not, nobody's interested. Here's the thing you have to know about ideas. Everyone has ideas, probably several. Creative types, writers, designers, artists, they have more than most. And the big difference between their ideas and your idea is that they will like their ideas better, they will understand how to implement their idea more, and their idea will have a better grounding in what is a reasonable scope of work. So by default, any idea they come up with is better for them than any idea you can come up with. There's only one way for your idea to be made. Do it yourself. Or get rich enough to pay other people to do it for you.

This, after work. Conformity effects are fascinating. I haven't liked a GTA since III. I have absolutely 0 intellectual interest in GTA V. In fact, I need some sort of gimmick to be willing to glance at sandbox car theft titles. But with everyone talking about GTA V, I am for some bizarre reason considering picking it up after work...

Seems simple enough, move the ground tiles, put a light source at the front. Simple in concept, anyway. Figuring out the right timing on movement to make it smooth would be pain.

Playing the Dragon Age 2 DLCs. These are actually pretty nice so far. Though Legacy hints at being more of Dragon Age 2's "everything you do is a failure." I still liked the exploration of the setting. And Tallis apparently can't pick the lock on a wooden door, but can pick the lock on an iron portcullis. I didn't even know people put locks on the portcullis itself. That seems like a design flaw.

But the one in the picture is a Dwarven broodmother. Awakening had a human.

I'm just curious how far along Dragon Age was when EA bought BioWare? Somewhat further along compared to when Bono bought it. Edit: Sometimes I forget how 'linear' time functions.

I've decided I hate Isabela. The only thing she's good for is opening boxes, sheesh.

Who's now in control of the Bioware division after Greg and Ray left? Aaryn Flynn for Edmonton/Montreal.

I can't disagree. But Oblivion's scaling is so broken for me that the game becomes unplayable at points. Not in a "this game sucks, that makes it unplayable." But in a "why is nobody taking any damage, I'm stuck in this oblivion gate with nowhere to go."

One interesting thing about the Qunari is that the first cinematic in DA2 with drawings of them even has them be hornless. But that's more trivia than anything significant.

Oblivion has better major quests. And better enemy variety. And that's the only nice thing I can say about it.

Almost a quarter of men 'admit to rape in parts of Asia'
Tale replied to Walsingham's topic in Way Off-Topic
Theoretically yes. But all I can see on a practical level is "never get that drunk." Because when you're at a place with drunk people, something bad is going to happen and someone has to be level headed enough to take people to the hospital, take them home, or call the police. And it's better to be the problem solver than the problem. Maybe that's why I'm so boring. But I like being boring. -
Dragon Age 2 and I'm bored with it. So, I'm in the first Act and I have no motivation. Some of the quests are interesting, but terribly short. The main plot is to gather money for a get rich quick scheme. :/ The companions are really kind of boring. The two that aren't broody don't talk a whole heck of a lot. And nobody's funny.

Took kitty to the vet because of a growth I found a couple days ago. Vet says it looks like a wart or extra nipple, but should get it removed to be sure. With a dental cleaning, that's a $1200 procedure. Without, a little under $600... :/ He was so eager to get back in the house afterwards he scratched me backhand style across the lip. Just flailing all directions to be let down.

I think you can make a game better that way, if you use it right. If Dragon Age 2 had all the same resources and opportunities of Origins, but shifted the Origins resources over to improved reactivity, it could have been a fantastic tradeoff. But... that's not really the situation as it stood. Imagine entire class quests with dungeons that were unique. But also, given how little time they had to work on Dragon Age 2, cutting races seemed like the right idea. If they'd had to implement race reactivity into the game they had, it wouldn't have saved it.

Poor Allan. Well, if you ever have a showing in Dallas, I'll be sure to harrangue you about something. Like the possibility of bromances, blood dragons, the hints in the setting that magical aptitude is more widespread than believe and whether or not that's intended or accidental, or if you personally got to meet Claudia Black (OMGOMGWHAT'SSHEREALLYLIKE). No no, don't spoil it by answering any of that now.

It looks fantastic, but I'm a bit confused about the placement of the movie in the Riddick universe. Does this one happen before the events of Chronicles? It happens after Chronicles. There's even a motion comic prequel, about 5 minutes long, doubles as a trailer. The writer/director says he wants to do another "epic" like Chronicles next.

Trying to watch the Riddick movies in preperation for Riddick tomorrow. Getting pretty good reviews so far.
