do ranger/cipher animal companion attacks build focus for the ranger?
anathanielh replied to Michael_Galt's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)I sincerely hope you enjoy the game, dude. I just doubt that sole mechanic is the way you want it to be. Have a day, and good luck.

Dual weilding pistols?
anathanielh replied to master guardian's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Action speed is inverse to recovery. Higher action speed=lower recovery. Reloading is a type of recovery. This means your guns will reload faster as well.

do ranger/cipher animal companion attacks build focus for the ranger?
anathanielh replied to Michael_Galt's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)I don't see why this would matter. The drawbacks to multiclassing are that you don't get those last 2 tiers of abilities for either class. You also get reduced power levels in both. So even if your ranger/cipher generates focus more quickly than even a single class cipher, it isn't like his abilities are as powerful or effective. A fighter/cipher or barbarian/cipher is probably going to be generating their focus at an even higher rate. Should they arbitrarily throttle their ability to generate focus because they are more effective classes at striking opponents and forcing engagement? (which, when combined with attacks which strike multiple opponents at once, will generate a TON of focus) If you compare the number of successful attacks by a ranger + animal companion, I doubt that it is greater than a fighter/cipher or barbarian/cipher. Not only that, but from the LORE perspective, there seems to be nearly no justification for NOT having the attacks of the animal companion generate focus. I don't even think it should be 100% focus gain (from each animal companion attack), but something like 10-25% of what the ranger would gain from their own attacks. It's like sending electricity over a wire- you are going to lose some, even if it is well insulated. The ranger isn't physically touching his animal companion, but they ARE linked by their souls. So some of that focus gain SHOULD happen. My problem wasn’t them generating it faster. It was them potentially generating focus without doing anything. (Meaning while stunned or disabled they’re still just generating focus because of a pet) At least other class have to hit a dude before they are rewarded.

do ranger/cipher animal companion attacks build focus for the ranger?
anathanielh replied to Michael_Galt's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Looking from a mechanics perspective, that seems overpowered as all hell, even if the pet gives a reduce amount of focus (As it potentially allows the cipher to generate his/her power pool by doing absolutely nothing). I'm gonna guess a hard no.

sidekicks
As Clerith said, they are companions, but with no in-depth across the entire game mega character quests. They just have their inital quests and they decide to join ya and have good times.

Romance & Companions wishes (NON-SPOILERS)
anathanielh replied to Amentep's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)You guys are talking about romancing companions and statues, but you aren't thinking big enough. The real question is: Can we romance the ship? I think that may be the ultimate goal of the game aside from the main story. #BringBackSaltyMast

They have no excuse for release because...
anathanielh replied to Malanir's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)The world ain't flat, my dude. By releasing it at a set time, everybody is able to get access to the game at the same time. Because of timezones, you may get the 7PM thing or whatever, but that's life.

Pillars of Eternity II Review Thread
anathanielh replied to Infinitron's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Well, if not, you could have used DOS2 as well. I don't think DOS 2 is overrated honestly, good but overrated especailly as a single player game. It also is honestly nothing like the games that's I'd suggest after it (The IE games) and is more like ultima etc....So do you think it’s overrated or not?

I'm really worried regarding performance
anathanielh replied to MrH's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)I played PoE1 with a GTX 970 / 3500k @ 4.3GHz / 16GB DDR3 1600MHz / 60Hz screen and it was pretty bad, I never held 60fps during combat regardless of settings. I recently upgraded to a GTX 1080 / 6700k @ 5GHz / 16GB DDR4 3200MHz / 144Hz screen so I'm hoping I can maintain at least 60fps, but with a 144Hz screen 100 - 144fps is ideal which is what I get in every other game. However after watching itsmeJP I know it won't be possible. In the first game, lowering the settings helped me maintain a fairly high fps (pretty much constant 50+), and my specs ain’t the best. Resolution doesnt typically bother me, though. For others it may be a prob

No reviews yet? My spider-senses tingle ...
anathanielh replied to Tomice's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)I think you just misunderstood, you did nothing wrong. It's when developers don't release review copies before a game is out that you should worry. Obsidian has already done that and allowed it to be livestreamed. Reviews themselves, however, are almost always released on the day of the games release.
