  1. I'd like the possibility to see the content of my Pillars I imports, so we can easily check if everything's in order.
  2. Also, I kind of want to have a character collect every gods' chime now, just to see what happens. If they all start giving him godlike qualities, he'd be a real chimera.
  3. I think Rymrgand lets you go because, when you "end" his avatar/champion/whatever that thing may be for a moment, you show promise as someone who can hasten his goals: All things must end, including himself.
  4. This is wrong. I never recruited Vatnir with my ranger, and he ended up being sacrificed to the White Void by his fellow harbingers.
  5. Eco's biggest talent as a writer, in my opinion, is the clever use of history and literary sources in an inventive way, not his fairly decent writing. It's pretty similar to Dan Brown's books in that regard, though Eco's plots actually differ between books and are more historically grounded. On the other hand, while I would never say I loathe Pratchett, I never quite managed to get into his stories. They're fun to read, sure, but I've a hard time settling into a story that fails to take itself seriously, though I do admire his worldbuilding, tongue-in-cheek as it is. It's the same reason I never managed to finish Original Sin: The mystery aspect was well done, but when they tried to add a more integrated story to a style that flouts drama entirely, it just fell apart.
  6. My ranger never recruited him and got this ending. For certainty's sake, she also killed Neriscyrlas and fought the Beast of Winter in said playthrough.
  7. That interactive world map looks great, well done. The only things that seem to be missing are Bekarna's observatory at the northwestern tip of the Kua o Rikuhu islands, Pahowane on Neketaka Island, and Flooded Cave on the left island beneath the Ofecchia channel marker. I'd try adding them myself, but I'd probably end up screwing something up or spending way too long figuring it out.
  8. You can also just scout ahead with a high per character. It takes some time, but it'd be silly to make traps avoidable/trivial as that'd beat the entire point of having unnoticed traps. Ideally you just combine a high per char with high mechanics. I'm also not certain i'm comfortable with eder petting sensitive machinery like that.
  9. It's in the White March: part 2. Llengrath sends assassins after you to take Concelhaut's philactery (from WM1), after which you can access the swamp area she's in. Depending on your choices, you either kill her and her pet dragons, or end up exchanging soul essence with her for knowledge. For Deadfire, she shows up in the Arkemyr questline, and possibly in The Forgotten Sanctum DLC as well
  10. First ship was named the Wyrmling Second one (dhow) was named the Seadrake, and was enough to get me all the way to the end I had more fun with the islands: Caed Nui and "I Swear This Was Supposed To Be India" come to mind. And I named the one with the hanging tree "Dyrwoodan Hello". I think I named my ranger's ship the Huntsman. Not the most original of names, but it has a good ring to it and fits the main story.
  11. Deadfire's alright when it comes to bugs. The problem was that most bugs were related to save import, companion stuff, and doing things out of order - which are, for most of us, the most important aspects when playing an RPG. The worst one is the current one where the Guardian of Ukaizo doesn't appear, and even that isn't gamebreaking. It's just really anti-climatic.
  12. Ranger 8-9 skills are fine in my opinion. Twinned shot and driving flight go together great, especially when using certain weapons like frostseeker or most unique blunderbusses. The active level 9 ability's lackluster, but stunning shot's perfect for locking enemies, especially since ranger is great at stacking accuracy. The companion could still use some work, I suppose.
  13. Rymrgand gives you a curse called "Burden of Memory" during the first animancer quest, giving -2 might and resolve, which goes away after a set period of time. Berath decreases all your attributes by one.
  14. Veteran could use some upscaling as well: normal battles become laughable from level 14, and "hard battles" like are mildly challenging at best with an unoptimized level 15-16 party. Between a fighter with Charge/Knock down and a Ranger with concussive tranq, most bosses can be made incapable of resistance way too easy. Gorecci street remains the hardest fight in-game, in my opinion. Beast of Winter did better in this regard, though I fear the mechanical changes hinder making the game as difficult as PoE1. But it's definitely a step in the right direction. As S3 is supposedly a combat-centric DLC, I hope they'll revamp the difficulty alongside its release.
  15. I've tried countering with charm and dominate on charmed/dominated party members, but it never worked thus far. Made splintered reef very annoying to deal with until Tekehu got the Fampyr chant.
  16. what actually happened to that poll? It seems to have been deleted...
  17. Very much true. But Tyranny is a way different than anything they've made. Both Shadowrun and BattleTech are tactical turn based games. I don't know if the crpg stuff kicked in later on in Shadowrun (my save got destroyed haven't had the time to start from the beginning), but from what I saw it would be quite a change for them. And with BattleTech selling so well, their focus will be on that game and universe for some time. I'd definitely count dragonfall as a crpg, though the lesser overall difficulty and difference in style compared to most other crpgs still stands. I could see Harebrained make a decent game set in the Tyrannyverse; It'd just be something completely different than the original tyranny in style and mechanics, which'd ruin obs' work in creating the setting. Not to mention the unique spellcrafting system'd either have to be redone or thrown out the window. Paradox has also been pondering the possibility of a grand strategy set in Terratus, which sounds really damn interesting as long as it's not a replacement for future CRPGs in the setting. In the best case, Obs and paradox continue the partnership over the IP, and other possible future games, as before. Paradox's purchase of white wolf and Harebrained both point towards a growing interest in producing and publishing rpg's, and Obs' current model of long continued support alongside consistent communication with the fanbase is a perfect fit for the way Paradox works with its own games and fanbase. It'd be a shame for them to end up competing when they should be able to fit together nicely.
  18. Wael godlike would probably have multiple eyes, and might have a seemingly shifting/hazy appearance in accordance with the mystery aspect. Woedica godlikes could be scarred like her, perhaps seemingly blinded as "justice is blind" and all that. Could also have notably strange hands, in accordance with her position as the strangler. I agree with Tagaziel's ideas for Abydon godlikes, and I imagine they'd be somewhat reminiscent of the Eyeless in appearance. Same with his views on Eothas Godlikes, though they'd have to clearly distinguish Gaun godlikes from Death godlikes. Perhaps Gaun godlikes could have a shadowed look to their appearance, similar yet opposite to an Eothas godlike's glow? Are we actually certain Nature godlikes are Galawain's? It's hard to imagine them belonging to another god, but I don't think it was ever confirmed in-game. I also have some suspicions on Moon godlikes, as Ondra never even mentions the Watcher being one while doting over Tekehu all the time.
  19. Did you get the aid from any of the trapped souls? Because in case you didn't notice, standing on the symbols they cast in front of'em gives you +50% damage against the dragon for some time. Starting the battle by having my tank draw her away while the rest jumped one of those symbols did wonders. Also, having a ranger with concussive tranq is great against her buffs.
  20. 4 million is definitely ridiculous, but I'm fairly certain Deadfire did alright for a relatively niche AA game: the fig campaign was a huge success, and if algroth's correct 300-325k sales seems a realistic assumption when you count in steam, gog and other retail stores like amazon. Sales were likely bumped early August as well, with the release of BoW. It'll never reach the crazy level of D:OS2, but I doubt anyone expected that.
  21. I'm more inclined to say the opposite: the more specific a character's beliefs, abilities and backstory gets, the less believable choices you have in class/multiclass selection. I have a hard time imagining my hunter from the colonial frontier in the Living Lands as anything other than a sharpshooter, lacking the training/endurance for devoted and the cunning/supposed fragility of an assassin, which would've been obvious choices otherwise. From a min/maxing standpoint multiclass is mostly superior, if only because of the utility of classes like paladin and chanter. But RP-wise, it's can be just as much of a hindrance as a driver for multiclassing.
  22. Your guess is way off. According to the Steam leak that was accurate up to July, Pillars 1 had sold just under 1.3 mil units on Steam, Tyranny was around 560K units. Deadfire despite being out for a few months wasn't even on the leak which stop reporting under 237K units. Even assuming that Deadfire was somewhere around 230K units on Steam and GOG moved 20% of that number (probably generous) that'd still put Deadfire between 200-300K units, no where near 4 million. Steam sales aren't entirely reliable since they don't include preorders/fig backers, which comprise the vast majority of early Deadfire sales (i.e. most of the people on this forum). GOG doesn't release it's sales numbers, but I wouldn't be surprised if about 30-35% of players picked GOG. Considering Deadfire sold 230k units on steam without counting fig backers/preorders, I'd say it did pretty well thus far. Could very well become a sleep seller over the years.
  23. To me it seemed similar to the Japanese treatment of its Manchurian territories following the Meiji restoration: assimilation by "raising fellow aumaua/asians to the level of your own culture". Aside from that, Imperial Rome under the Julii-Claudii dynasty (I assume you mean this with Caesarean) isn't the best example, as they generally left the areas it conquered alone, so long as they paid imperial taxes/tribute depending on status, honoured Roman laws and acknowledged the divinity of the emperor. Romanisation occurred, but this was overall a gradual, non-deliberate evolution caused by the creation of colony cities in conquered territory for unsettled veterans, and the induction of local leadership in the Roman elite: both of which caused Rome to be influenced by the people it conquered just as much, as visible in local building templates, the gradual induction of superior local weaponry such as the gladius, and the rise of the local elite in the Roman Hierarchy. 20th century thinking largely imagined Romanisation to be more deliberate due to the experiences of the past century: this is generally seen as a mistake by modern researchers, though the debate on it'll probably never fully be resolved.
  24. A great foreboding, apprehensive track from Dragon's Dogma: dark arisen. Usually plays on a loop while you're crawling through dark hallways/tunnels, praying not to encounter the literal Grim Reaper indicated by it. Starting town theme
