  1. Oh, well that was interesting (Sincerely) thanks for taking the time to post that.
  2. The goal was probably more to make a statement than expecting to be awarded all the money in the world. I suppose it was still worth trying just on the off chance they'd be awarded the full amount though, a bit like the lottery,
  3. I'm glad that they wrapped up the "There can be only one" story arc with the last few movies rather than leaving it up in the air forever. It's just a shame that The Source wasn't a better send-off.
  4. Highlander: Endgame was okay, I'd even argue it was a better film for the most part
  5. RoboWhale would be woefully outmatched by Godzilla
  6. http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2012/05/21/shout-at-the-devil-blizzard-acknowledges-diablo-iii-hacks/#comment-page-2 Accounts have been hacked including those with authenticators (no refunds on those peices of junk I suppose).
  7. I think they already are actually, I've not had any disconnects or lag in two days.
  8. Marvel Ultimate Alliance is a crpg and is actually pretty close to what you describe. There are a large number of playable marvel heroes, it's party based, plays a bit like Dungeon Seige 3, there's a basic inventory, characters can be assigned skills and stat points as they level, there are areas to have conversations (though dialogue is not a big game feature) and tinker with the party between missions. MUA made it to the PC, MUA2 didn't unfortunately. http://uk.ign.com/ga...iance/pc-762708
  9. This isn't a story spoiler but it is a game mechanic spoiler
  10. That's not quite true. Some people put down money for the game during the kickstarter period and that is to fund the creation of the game and then when the game is actually completed it will be available for everyone else to buy for a fixed price. So when the game is released it can still be pirated but the developer will have at least been paid for the development costs. That was in reply to Rostere and I'm apparently quite slow at responding.
  11. CoH2 sounds fantastic. I'm really curious to see how the new snow system is going to work and also quite hopeful for what this might mean for the Dawn of War series as well,.
  12. If you close Steam before it has finished downloading a game/patch then you shouldn't lose any progress on the download. The % bar will reset though, so if you were downloading a 3gig file, closed steam at 2gigs and then fired steam up again it would carry on downloading that final 1gig but the % bar would be now telling you how much progress you've made on the final gig rather than the whole thing. That said, sometimes downloads do get corrupted and Steam will sometimes autocorrect and redownload bad files, I hope in your case it's the former.
  13. After you finish the game, whatever you think of the ending, you really must go to youtube and watch all the different ways Mordin's quest can play out. Hands down some of the best cut-scenes in gaming. And so now I find this on youtube ,
  14. Cutlock, I owe you an apology. My last post was originally longer and more polite but I axed a paragraph and didn't do a decent job of editing what was left, I didn't mean to come off as brash as that and I'm sorry if I offended you..

  16. After the big news story about Blizzard employees having all their personal details put online I can't believe they're still doing that. Thanks for the heads up.
  17. I wouldn't buy any of the games you've pitched here because frankly it sounds like I'd have a better time and value for money if I picked up the games you're listing as references instead. It's also worth pointing out that 2d platformers are big with amature game devs who upload to sites like newgrounds that as well as being quite fun, don't just take inspiration from old games but also innovate and are free. If you're set on making a short game then maybe it would be better to do something like a card game or something with a random element that offers decent replay value. Or hell, try interactive fiction if you have a novel written up. You could try an approach similar to Masq, probably very cheaply compared to other genre game budgets too if you know someone who can draw.
  18. I think the Venture Brothers setting would make a really great fit for a videogame.
  19. I don't think I'd dare crack a Steam or Origin game even if it meant I couldn't use that game anymore. It's not worth risking the whole account.
  20. "I was really surprised at how skillful the hackers were" How many news stories about game X being leaked have there been over the past decade?
  21. Pardon if this sounds retarded but ... what's the point in playing a video game if you don't like playing the combat portions? Wouldn't the video game become nothing more than like watching a movie? While combat is one of my least favorite aspects of RPGs, I still enjoy it. It gives me the satisfaction of seeing how powerful my character is that I've spent all this time leveling up, and allows me to take part in the "conflict" in the game. Bad guy loses because I beat the snot out of him. It's the sense of achievement portion of my game. I think you might be getting hung up on a label. Even if it ceases to be a "game" at that point a lot of people really like the interactive stories and judging from Fahrenheit and Heavy Rain's success it seems like there might be enough people to support such a product financially. It's really just a progression of choose your own adventure books.
  22. I think Space Hulk is the best one I can come up with at the moment.
