New Warren Spector Interview
It was known to be Harvey Smith's game during development, in fact I remember a dev on ttlg pointing this out, and not in a "it's all his fault" way, rather "give credit where it's due". Also, while DX:IW was a disappointment, to call it "one of the most dramatic failures in gaming history" is completely over the top and ridiculous.

RPGs you still haven't finished
How could I forget the original NWN? I even tried playing through it twice, the second time years after the first, but it was just too boring. Funnily enough I did manage to complete Dungeon Siege, but that's Di's fault..

RPGs you still haven't finished
I played quite a lot of Gothic 3 before losing interest in it completely, and I doubt I'll ever play it ever again. I gave up on Wizardry 8 and Wizards & Warriors pretty quickly, Wiz8 because I just couldn't find the fun and W&W because of bugginess. Other than those, the only ones I never finished were really old, like the EotB series, or the first RPG I ever played, Dragon Wars.

TV: Heroes
I just hope we don't see a horrible Dragonball Z type fight like in that last Matrix movie.

Do you prefer the Fantasy genre for CRPG's ?
I have no real preference. It really depends on what I've played recently. The last RPGs I played were Gothic 3, NWN2 and I'm currently playing the RPG/RTS combo Spellforce 2, so I'm a bit over medieval fantasy stuff for the moment.

TV: Heroes
Yeah, I really hope they don't drag that out. I think he's pretty suspicious of him as it is.

what frightens you most?
I don't like that either, although it's probably due to the fact that I am completely incapable of floating.
-
what frightens you most?
Obviously you suffered a zombie related incident as a child and have since repressed the memory.

Dragon Age Screens
What does that necessarily have to do with anything? Her "hurrying up Gordon" could easily have made sense from a story standpoint. I have no issues with the pacing of Half-Life 2, but there are many times that the amount of "freedom" a game will give you takes away from the urgency of the whole situation. "Oh no, it's a big giant meteor coming towards the planet! I'm going to hang out at the Golden Saucer in the mean time." I was enjoying Final Fantasy VII (and still did enjoy it), but when I realized that the urgency was all just a facade, it lost a bit of its lustre. While I may be a decent enough "twitch-reflex crack-speed FPS player" (given the large number of games I play, it couldn't really be helped), I certainly don't consider myself to have a short attention span. One of the things I really hated in the original Splinter Cell is when I lost a mission because I was responding to Lambert's urgency that some event not be televised. Because I didn't bother hiding the odd body, I "set off alarms" (which was a retarded mechanic in the game), because I figured that rescuing the hostages was of the utmost priority. Seriously, simply labelling someone that might not hate the urgency as having a "short attention span" would be like saying people that don't want it have ADD or something. I preferred that she didn't hurry you along, because I played HL2 like I play all my FPS - slow and steady with the need to explore every nook and cranny. HL2 is no Painkiller or Serious Sam, so I don't get Wistrik's insistence that he doesn't play the game in a way that as far as I can see isn't really accommodated for. Anyway, I don't like it when characters tell me I have to hurry if the game allows me to take as much time as I want. If I remember correctly I was told I really needed to hurry just before the segment with the buggy, but that part felt so damn long that I forgot what it was I was supposed to be doing. Of course I didn't like the vehicle segments so they probably felt longer than they actually were.

do women have a sweat fetish?
That reminds me of a particular tv production student at my old university. You could tell he was in the computer lab before you got there because you could smell him way down the hall. Once it gets that bad it has the opposite effect, and not just on women, also men, children, animals, extraterrestrial life...

Snickers pulls plug on Super Bowl smooch ad
Organisations like GLAAD don't have a problem with this ad because it might offend someone, the problem is the message it sends, that gay is bad and must be fought against, and the possible effects this can have. This ad alone won't cause that, but it is part of the larger problem. If anything the ad makes fun of homophobes, although the additional scene with the football team is straight out homophobia. The difference is in how persecuted a group is, or how persecuted they perceive themselves to be. If rednecks were treated the say way that gays are today, I doubt they'd so happy. Same goes with any group. How ridiculously arrogant of you to claim to know what's in the hearts and minds of all men everywhere! And you've even conveniently countered any arguments men might make by accusing them of being liars. And just what does it mean to be "a tiny bit homophobic"? If, for example, a woman goes her whole life without ever thinking or saying or doing anything sexist, but them one day makes a joke about men, is she then to be forever labeled "a tiny bit sexist"? Every person is capable of being homophobic/sexist/racist, but it's stupid to label people based on what they might do or say or think or feel. If a man lives his whole life without ever consciously doing/saying/thinking/feeling anything homophobic then it makes no sense to claim he is "a tiny bit homophobic", and to apply the label to him simply removes any meaning from the word. Claiming that everyone is a tiny bit homophobic/sexist/racist is just a poor attempt to downplay the problem that is homophobia/sexism/racism and ignore the issue. The comment the we "might just as well laugh about it" is really the icing on the cake. It's easy for people not affected by the issue to claim it's just something to laugh about, but to those living in a society that can be hostile towards them it's no laughing matter. Instead of making a thread about this issue and claiming that "one of the biggest problems in the world today is too many people with a total lack of a sense of humor", why didn't you just laugh about the fact that some people can be so humourless and then think nothing more about the issue? Of course I won't hold it against you and claim it's wrong you feel the way you do. Humans are cautious of that which is different to them, but fear and hatred is something that comes later, based on our own interactions with particular groups, or the influence of our guardians, peers and society in general.

Here is an update on the soldier who refused to go!
If I remember correctly he signed up specifically to fight in Iraq, later deciding he believed that the war was wrong.

Snickers pulls plug on Super Bowl smooch ad
This commercial is not homophobia. This is Homophobia:Murder charges planned in beating death of gay student BIG difference. No, that's persecution and murder. There certainly can be homophobia short of extreme acts like that. Homophobia is the fear of associating one's self with anything perceived as being "gay." I think the commercial illustrates it pretty well. GLAAD has every right to object. Behavior doesn't have to be as reprehensible as murder to be objectionable. The commercial operates on the premise that the preferences of many GLAAD members are something that should be feared by mainstream society. The only part of GLAAD's statement in the excerpted article I would take issue with is where they said that the commercial condoned violence against gays. I don't think it went that far. I agree with this. According to the imdb, the extended ad on the website featured "members of the Chicago Bears and Indianapolis Colts also registering their disgust at the kiss." Would the ad have worked if it was a man and woman accidentally kissing? Of course not, because there is nothing wrong with that. The humour is on the level of a teenage boy laughing at something and describing it as "totally gay". Was that the one with the rabbit and hamster and the poor little mousey?

update on kidnapped boys
If the title didn't include the word "sodomy", would Eddo have even noticed it?

Shelter Dogs Commercial
My sisters bull mastiff is possibly the stinkiest creature on the planet. You need to go shower if you just think about going near him. All the cats in the world combined couldn't hope to match his stench.

This will be mines in less than 2 weeks
Hmm, the guy I chased away didn't have a gun, so why didn't he, say, take the axe form the garage before trying to enter my house? Or a saw or screwdriver, or smash me head with a potted plant or get a stick from the garden and ram it into my eye before stripping me naked and raping my bloody corpse? Because that's what criminals do, which is why we need guns to protect ourselves. He didn't have a gun to murder me, so why didn't he use some other implement? One of life's great mysteries.

What I have done is chase them away. My dad once caught someone who was trying to break into his home, and he chased them down the street, before tackling them and handing them over to the cops. It's nice to live in a country where we don't live in seemingly constant fear of someone entering our home and murdering us. I don't know if America is really like that, but it's certainly the picture the pro gun crowd seems to paint. Unless they're also armed, then they're gonna want to shoot you before you shoot them, being the typical murderous raping criminal that they are.

The Battlestar Galactica Thread
One theory I've seen floating about is that everyone is a Cylon. Humans build cylons, cylons rebel, cylons wipe out humans, cylons eventually forget what they are and consider themselves human, humans build cylons, rinse and repeat. One explanation for the whole "this has all happened before" deal. Perhaps both cylons and humans will get to earth and find a people that know full well what they are, everyone realise they are the same, and they all live happily ever after.

I don't get Christianity because.
I believe the Tooth Fairy doesn't exist, I have faith that Santa doesn't exist!
-
I don't get Christianity because.
To one who believes that you cease to exist when you die, what would be the point of thinking about death? Better to live the life you have instead of thinking of a time when it's gone, or some kind of happy magical fantasy land called heaven.

Alien Shooter 2 demo
I didn't mind the demo of Shadowgrounds, but felt it was more than enough. I finished the demo of AS2 when I was only getting started.

Alien Shooter 2 demo
That was great. Reminds me of the game Shadowgrounds, only more satisfying.

One of the Ginger Snaps films. Yeah Darque's avatar is a hell of a lot more interesting than this news.
