Fallout 3 on the Xbox 360???
I remember Thief fans kicking up quite a stink over T:DS because Garrett didn't wear a cloak like in the original games, and carried a dagger instead of a sword. These things were of vital importance to the character and gameworld as far as many hardcore fans were concerned, but I guarantee that reviewers and the gaming public in general don't worry about these things.

Fallout 3 on the Xbox 360???
Simple, it could provide them with an alternative view of the game, with pure facts bereft of any deceitful PR lingo. I agree with alanschu in that I expect it to be "laced with arsenic", rather than the unbaised source of factual information they might claim or hope to be. I agree with that, and think for example that many people who hate DX:IW (especially those who decided to hate it long before it was released) might have liked the game had it been an set in an original world with new characters, but there really isn't any way to what effect the title has. "True Fallout fans" might like to think their complaints had an effect on the sales of FOBOS, but the fact is that it was a rather dull hack'n'slash game, and probably did as well as it was ever going to do regardless of the name.

Fallout 3 on the Xbox 360???
That isn't proof that they'd buy it without knowing anything about it, especially since Bethesda themselves haven't revealed anything yet. I think it's more likely that if their expectations weren't lowered based on the comments on that forum, they would have been lowered once information is released, which they could find in any number of magazines or internet sites. What reason do people have to visit, for example, thetruthaboutfallout3.org over bethsoft.com/fallout3 or gamespot.com/pcreviews/fallout3? What would cause them to visit the former if they never ever visit the latter? If they really want to find out info with a single link, they'd probably be better off visiting wikipedia instead of a page made by self-appointed "true fallout fans". Ultimately I think this is a really petty complaint, and if this new website offers stuff like this, then it won't be offering anything new. Bethesda could call the game Fallout 3 or Fallout: [subtitle], they could refer to it as canon or something else, it won't change the game itself, it will only change the precious feelings of the so-called "true fallout fans" safe in the belief that "their" universe and rules system and whatever else hasn't been tampered with.

SiN Episode 1 doesn't really stand out from the crowd, but then neither did SiN. Same with all of Ritual's FPS. The 9 planned episodes aren't like one game cut up into small pieces, it's more like 4 or 5 games cut up into small pieces (this is my opinion is based on the size and content of episode 1), so I think it was arrogance on their part to think they could keep it up. Episode 1 didn't lose money, it met their conservative estimates, and my desire for a single game rather than a bunch of episodes comes from me wanting a single game with a complete story, rather than think episodes aren't good business. For all i know Ritual has what it takes to make what they planned, it's just their new owners don't want that. Hell, maybe we'll even see an episode or two that attempts to finish the story.

Fallout 3 on the Xbox 360???
How many people really run out and buy a game they know nothing about based solely on it's name? And if they do rush out and buy games without knowing more than the name, why would they visit this supposed "anti-hype" site? If they buy games without reading any news, reviews, previews in print or on the net, and aren't interested in the views of people on forums and whatnot, why would they suddenly change and check out this website, they they mostly likely will never know exists?

It would require they keep their plans to shift focus a secret. Episode 2 was due around about now, and it may well have been in a near finished state, but it would be a pretty ****ty thing to do to release the next chapter when you know you aren't going to be doing any more. Such news would likely get out anyway, which could hurt sales with people not wanting to support the product when they'll never get the other chapters, and ultimately that would make for a bad reputation. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I'm not sure. I'd still buy Episode 2 if it came out today. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Heh, so would I, but then I never claimed that no one would buy it, just that it wouldn't be enough to outweigh the negative.

Fallout 3 on the Xbox 360???
That's a load of rubbish. The "true spirit" of a game is entirely a matter of opinion - one person might consider the rule system and type of gameplay all that matters, while another is only concerned with the characters, world and story. Sand has his own set of things he wants from a sequel, and there is nothing wrong with that, but this belief that unless Bethesda's Fallout meets a set of criteria set out by you or Sand or anyone else then it isn't Fallout is just delusional. Reminds me of the guy on the old Ion Storm boards who refused to believe DX:IW and T:DS were sequels based solely on the fact that they didn't have numbers in the title. It's petty whining from people who refuse to accept they didn't get things the way they wanted.

I was wondering that myself. My first thought was something like games for cellphones, but who the hell knows.

Fallout 3 on the Xbox 360???
It's one thing to make a first person game with a third person option like Morrowind and Oblivion, or an overhead game with the option to zoom in and drive the character like in NWN2, but trying to do all three just results in watered down crappiness. As above - it's better to do one well instead of spreading resources around. That's entirely possible even in Oblivion, bu Bethesda doesn't do good dialog.

Possible, but I think unlikely. What reason would there be to scrap it? Finish the current project and then work on these so called "casual" games. It's one thing to scrap plans for future episodes after the first wasn't well received, another thing to scrap an in development game that for all they know could be the next big thing.

What are you playing now?
It certainly does. and the moral of the story is don't span your game out over 9 (9!) friggin' episodes. I whole game would have been nicer.

Pictures of your games...
Can you give your impressions of the game? I heard it was pretty bad, but I haven't kept track of any patches they've done. I was a big Silent Storm fan, so I love the game engine in general. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I recently finished the game, and didn't find it terribly exciting. I don't think it was bad so much as it was kinda dull. I LOVE the combat in Silent Storm and this just doesn't compare. Chain lightning is nice, though.

Fallout 3 on the Xbox 360???
I wouldn't hold your breath waiting. There was a cancelled PS2 CoC game, and something called Destiny's End which was a third person game set in modern day, but that's not been heard from in years. I'm not even sure Headfirst even exists anymore.

Fallout 3 on the Xbox 360???
Yeah, because Morrowind and Oblivion being on Xbox and Xbox 360 was a huge failure for the Elder Scrolls franchise. And by huge failure I mean Todd Howard probably sleeps on a great big pile of money.

Vampire: Bloodlines
The vampire cowboy lady on the back of the box is actually the second armour set for the Malkavian female. I know some of the player character models appear in the theatre in the beginning, so either the those characters played a part but were cut, or the screenshot is simply a mockup.

I find I can't play Deus Ex anymore. I've played it too death and know it too well. Thief is a bit the same, though I can load a favourite mission now and then and just play that. I'd like to be able to play SS2, but nothing I can do stops it from crashing.

What happened to...
Yrkoon Chain-yanker and Button-pusher There was a brief moment when Tarna's coffe shop held a revival, too. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I was actually registered there, under a totally secret name that has nothing to do with my current one.

Vampire: Bloodlines
I feel the same way. Unlike seemingly everybody, I didn't love the haunted hotel because I never really felt like I was in danger, unlike the scary levels in Thief. It was cool the first time around, but every other time it was just a chore. And for the record Mary Elizabeth McGlynn has the greatest voice ever and when I grow up I'm going to marry her.

Restricted Area - Impressions?
I played the demo and then read that all dungeons in the game were no different to the one in the demo, so I lost interest.

It would be nice to know what happened to people. I saw Yrkoonikins over at the Bio boards.

The Battlestar Galactica Thread
When I mentioned a pirated version I was thinking more of him possibly being ripped off. The region 4 DVD set definitely has all the episodes (including the extended Pegasus episode). The episode where wakes up at , is the last episode, right?
-
The Battlestar Galactica Thread
He was either missing a DVD or had a pirated version, because the Australian "2.0" DVD set has all season 2 episodes on 5 discs (plus a sixth DVD of deleted scenes).

<{POST_SNAPBACK}> FM4 never had an European release, did it? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That's right. I'm playing it on a modified system.
