Warren Spector teams with John Woo on movie-game project
Hell Kitty replied to funcroc's topic in Computer and Console
That is a filthy, filthy lie. Song of the Caverns (Thief Gold) is the best, and that's not just my opinion, it's The Truth! Actually I do prefer TMA (I played TDP first though) because I do prefer the "breakin' in to buildings" levels to the supernatural stuff, but the zombie levels aren't at all about action like you claim. And as much as people might deny it, Thief was always about , it just didn't push that angle the way RPGs do. Oh man, I NEED to replay these right now. Mus, what fm is that pic from? Thief has the type of non-linearity I look for in games. Sure the story is completely linear, but I have the freedom to explore and complete my objectives as I see fit. It's why I love DX as well. edit: I'm currently playing through Gears of War and the world really come across like a future version of the Thief world. Even the Gears could be the military arm of the Hammers. -
Really? The last time I played TDP on expert I was surprised by just how damn easy it was. I even had to kill someone to make sure I was on expert. I figured I just played the game too damn much. Heh, I just remembered my first experience with Thief. Knocking out a guard in Baffords and then throwing his body into the water to drown him because I was paranoid he'd wake up and come after me. Now I'm getting the urge to replay them all...

Thief 1 & 2 are the best games ever and anyone who disagrees is a lesser human being. -
Saint's Row does that. If you input cheats using the in-game cellphone and save, you'll never earn achievements with that savegame. Anyway, some achievements are pretty lame, like getting 50 points in Oblivion just for exiting the tutorial dungeon.

Also, Kor: maybe it's because I viewed it over such a short period of time, but I didn't find it particularly confusing... more like - oh, God - intricate. That's part of the reason I won't watch any more shows from HBO. How could they cancel something so different and entertaining? I believe it was becoming too expensive to make.

How was CoD2 dumbed down & consolized? The gameplay is just the same as the original. COD2 had the infamous grenade indicator and the fact that your health could regenerate quite quickly, leading several of us to believe we were actually Wolverine of Xmen fame with severe amnesia fighting for three different governments because we could. At least with medpacs you had the semblance of "hey man, it may be ludicrous but those there bandages are miracles in a box" where as now it was get hit by a tank, hid under a table for two seconds and that arm you just lost reappeared. Also the levels were shorter, to the point where I no longer felt like I was actually in a war, rather in a series of semi related brushfights. And I think that the level designers decided that they could take a holiday after finishing half the game. The only thing that I think can be truly been seen as "dumbing down" is the grenade indicator", and to claim the game is dumbed down compared to the original based on this is to completely ignore the actual meat of the gameplay. The change in the health system is not a dumbing down at all, it simply removed the worthless "hunt for a health pack to magically heal myself" element n order to focus on the gameplay of shootin' ****. Both the health kit and regeneration systems are completely unrealistic, you are simply criticising the one you don't prefer. Having only recently replayed both CoD and CoD2 I can say that no, the levels were not shorter. Game Rakings disagrees with you.

I found V:B rather chunky and loud. Not quite as ridiculous as the guy on the ISA forums who claimed MS forced devs to make heavy use of "xbox green", but close enough. Anyway, when I grow up, I'm going to marry Ken Levine.

Court upholds death sentence for child rape
Hell Kitty replied to Guard Dog's topic in Way Off-Topic
You kill a man you believed to be a rapist and then get killed yourself because it turns out he was innocent? I fail to see the common sense in this system. Sorry bud, but it's guilty or not guilty, not truly guilty, probably guilty or not guilty. -

Not necessarily. Perhaps she was mistaken, perhaps someone else entirely wanted to frame him, perhaps a mistake was made somewhere in the process. Why would they want to kill the judges or lawyers, when you are the one who sentenced him to death? You could have chosen a lesser punishment, but you chose to believe the justice system got it right. By giving the victim or victims family the right to do what they wish, you are making them a part of the justice system. By deciding how this man should be punished, you have made yourself a part of the system and as such you must be held accountable for the decisions you make. Which means his family gets to kill you, if they wish. -

Overpopulation is a most serious and personal crime that mankind has committed against the planet, and as a child of mother earth I feel I must be given the right to kill you all. You know it's the proper thing to do, anything else would just be bowing to political correctness. -
Here is my list: 1. Bourne films 2. Bond films Undeniable proof that the Bourne series is better than the Bond series. Oh, and I watch a lot of movies so I know what I'm talking about.

So you kill the man who raped your daughter, but what if it is later revealed he was innocent? Does his family have the right to end the life of their sons killer? This system you propose is completely and utterly moronic. -
It's an updated version of the engine from Legend, but it's more like an update of the non-next gen mode, so it's less demanding.

I'd want to kill the guy myself, but it wouldn't have anything to do with justice. I can never support the death penalty due to the the flaws in the legal system. I don't have a problem with the deaths of rapists or paedophiles, but that's purely an emotional response. -
I had fun with the unpatched (or did I apply the first patch? I can't remember) version, so I wouldn't ditch it completely.

What in the name of Zombie Jesus? Next thing you know, Infinity Ward will be making something that's not a World War II shooter! You mean like Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare? Stil a shooter, sure, but at least they've ditched the WWII part.

You mean the scene when he's on the way to the construction site for the final battle and he runs in front of the US flag that takes up the whole screen? That was shown here is Oz. I thought it was cheesy.

I never played the original GR, but I enjoyed GRAW well enough, though by the end it felt rather repetitive and I was glad it was over.

Exactly. There have been sequels delivered in less time than so-called episodic games. No, it's true. Sequels have always been criticised when they don't offer enough "new stuff" compared to the original. The popularity of old games is irrelevant.
