  1. Because the AP formula and the DX formula are too different. With it's large, open level hubs DX has more in common with games like Thief and System Shock. The smaller, linear mission based levels of AP are closer to Splinter Cell than DX. Intent matters. DX:HR aims to improve on the DX formula. AP is irelevant. It really doesn't.
  2. No chance with everyone on the internet. Fixed.
  3. What an odd comment. Why would DX:HR try to improve on the AP formula when it could instead improve on the DX formula? AP has a lot in common with DX, but while DX has large, non-linear levels to roam, AP has small, narrow levels that lock off previous areas which stops the player from backtracking. AP is the last place the devs would look to for inspiration. DX is older than SC, but then I've seen people claim Ghost in the Shell ripped off The Matrix so I guess anything is possible. Old SC featured a shadow stealth system copied straight from Thief, DX:HR doesn't take shadows into account at all. New SC doesn't have non-lethal combat at all, which is an important part of a DX game.
  4. Euro/Aus Augmented edition has all extras*. Collector's edition comes with an Adam Jensen figure, but otherwise is the same as the Augmented edition. US Augmented edition comes with Explosive Mission Pack if bought if from Gamestop, or Tactical Enhancement Pack if bought anywhere else. There is no US Collector's edition. *Explosive Mission Pack: Tong's Rescue mission, grenade launcher, remote explosive device and auto unlocking device + Tactical Enhancement Pack: shotgun, silenced sniper rifle and sweet cash
  5. That was the previously cancelled JA3. Jagged Alliance: Back in Action is a different game entirely.
  6. If you agree with him he's a breath of fresh that tells it like it is, if you don't he's a big poopy head who shouldn't be taken seriously.
  7. My data amounts to my name, date of birth, the schools I went to, a city I once lived in, and a list of people I may or may not be friends with in real life. I can't think of anything sinister they (whoever they are) would do with that, and saying if only you knew... isn't the least bit helpful. So again, what are people putting on their FB pages that is so problematic?
  8. My previous question was a serious one, not a dismissal, as I who barely use FB so the only thing there I wouldn't want people so see are a couple horrible photos.
  9. Yeah, what are people putting on their FB pages that is so problematic?
  10. not at all, a lot of games are doing it. Legions, Tribes, Section 8, to name a few. it's a new trend Don't mind slowtrain, he tends to confuse "games I know of" and "games that exist".
  11. I just had my first crash at what I assume is the end of Act 2. Much better than TW:EE I played previously which crashed all the damn time, twice in the middle of saving.
  12. I could make you a DVD, but only if Nightshape is cool with it.
  13. I wasn't thinking of your esteamed self... More Morgoth and Hell Kitty with the responses they left. No gnashing of teeth here, but I can tea-bag you if you'd like.
  14. this game will make CoD obsolete 4 sure
  15. I LOVE Blood Money and I really don't know what the supposedly inaccessible hardcore parts of it are, but then I'm a stealth fanboy so maybe I just don't have the right perspective.
  16. I'm not 100% sure if you're being sarcastic The area between the balls and the butt is a hotbed of terrorist activity.
  17. If the TSA were fondling genitals ten years ago there might not have been a 9/11.
  18. Goddamnit. The patch installed fine but now the game won't run.
  19. Die in a fire or something. 4 is one of the only times I will ever refer to a game as "self-indulgent." It's one of those words that seems absolutely meaningless to apply to this kind of context, but there's literally nothing else to describe it. Metal Gear Solid 4 spent as much time in cutscenes as gameplay. If not more. And never gave you enough of any particular gameplay segment to appreciate it. MGS4 was most certainly self-indulgent, with too many cutscenes desperately in need of an editor, but I still love it. The few hours of actual gameplay were fab. Anyway, now that Sony is remastering PSP titles for play on the PS3 maybe I'll finally get to play Peace Walker.
  20. Same. If I'm interested enough to watch then I'm going to want to play myself, and I don't want to watch someone else do it and have it spoiled. Clearly, you all didn't grow up in an environment where your next door neighbor had an NES, and you didn't. Sure, we'd take turns when appropriate, but sometimes you have to take what you can get. As a kid I had a friend who would always bring his Atari over and we'd take turns playing games like Pitfall and River Raid. Another friend had all the old Sierra adventure games, and we'd play together trying to figure out the puzzles, which is probably the most fun I've ever had playing computer games with another person. I was thinking more of my adult gamer self, where most of the people I know who game do it casually, mostly mobile phone stuff. For the types of games I'm interested in, watching someone else play means watching a "Let's Play" video or somesuch.

  22. I did think it was odd that the dragon clearly flew away with my Aerondight, yet after that scene Geralt still had it. Makes sense they would let you keep it, otherwise being able to import it would be meaningless.
  23. For the love of God, can you link me to it? The weight limit is driving me crazy. http://gamemodscore.org/showthread.php/395...Item-Weight-Mod
  24. "We have received a very small number of customer support questions about PS3's overheating or shutting down while playing L.A. Noire," it reads. "At this time, Rockstar Games and Sony can confirm that neither L.A. Noire or firmware update 3.61 are causing the PS3 hardware to overheat. Also happening on the 360 apparently. This isn't the first time that people have complained that New Game X destroyed their console. I like these explanations from the comments thread: Consoles get bricked all the time. You just hear more about it when a big release hits. You never hear people complaining that Hexic bricked their console Very simple, Noire will be one of the most played games this year and thus will be in many consoles when they die and they do die.
