  1. Actually the silent part is irrelevant, it's the adult romancing the teen girl part that's creepy. Really, picture Bond, Bourne or Bauer "romancing" a 16 year old girl and tell me that wouldn't come off as inappropriate. There's something wrong when you need to point out that "it's totally legal!". Sure, Mike might be younger than the 3 Bs, but there is just something about an adult man chasing after teen girls that says "pathetic loser" to me and that doesn't really fit the spy persona.
  2. Yeah, I don't really get the "it shows they care" argument. When people have been complaining about the same developers for years, whining about the same games years after release, what exactly is it they are caring about?
  3. No creepy romances with mute teen girls thnx.
  4. All my PC games are in sleeves in two plastic boxes. Everything but the discs eventually get thrown out, so collectors editions and the bits and bobs that come with them are wasted on me, unless they've got a practical use, like the USB drive that came with Saint's Row 2.
  5. I enjoyed the demo and the game will probably be my next purchase. I'm more interested in the stealth aspect rather than combat. I agree the combat seemed pretty easy, but then I prefer it that way.
  6. Same. Played the trial yestarday and just bought it now. So I've got a weekend of this, ME and GTA4. Also, I love The Darkness. Much better than the source material. No it's not. Why do you lie?
  7. If I had to pick just one it would be: Thief 2: The Metal Age
  8. It's not Molyneux's fault your mind turns to pedophilia when you read "touch people".
  9. I've enjoyed all of Bioware's RPGs (except Jade Empire as I've not played it), as well as Bethesda's Fallout 3, the Elder Scrolls games (including Redguard, not including Battlespire) and a couple of those old Terminator games. Neither company has ever made anything that would make my own personal top 10 list but they've done a good job entertainin' me.
  10. Mass Effect & GTA IV.
  11. A cherub. The game is Messiah.
  12. Except it's the developers that end up dying, which makes those many many gamers very very stupid.
  13. You already got it.
  14. That's what they're doing with Dragon Age, and people are constantly complaining it doesn't look as sharp and shiny as ME. There is no WIN button with fans. Folks will always find something to complain about. A PC exclusive game that pushes hardware to it's limits will only result in people complaining that they can't run it at the highest settings. Crysis shows us this. Games have always been limited by the hardware of the time, be it console or PC. Games like Deus Ex and Thief feature large open levels, but graphically they were below the level of other games from the time. Hitman Blood Money is a more modern example of the same thing.
  15. Molyneux found success with Populous, and his studio Bullfrog was behind classics like Syndicate and Dungeon Keeper, long before he became known for making promises he can't keep. Gamers have short memories. VD has been trash talking devs long before he became one himself, and I guess holding the same cynical views on the industry and modern games as so many others gives him a sort of internet tough guy "street cred" people are willing to trust over actual experience. Will his game be able to live up to his own hype? I hope so.
  16. If it was Peter Molyneux making the same claims as Vincent Dweller, people would assume they were bull****. It's just odd when you get folks like the codex crowd who are known for being so angry and cynical but can turn around and seem so naive and trusting. Personally it doesn't really fill me with confidence when the creator isn't even willing to attach his real name to the product he is making.
  17. Apparently the issue is
  18. I loved Desperados. It has two sequels, the imaginatively titled Desperados 2 and Helldorado.
  19. Trust No One.
  20. This simply isn't true, and it doesn't even make sense. You can only compare a product with current or past products, you cannot compare it with something that doesn't yet exist. Sure, it means the reviewer thinks the game is great, but the number alone can't tell you why they think it's great. You're wrong in thinking opinion is irrelevant in these things. All games are flawed in one way or another, and some can still enjoy a game despite these flaws while others will hate a game because of those flaws. If particular features don't work as they are supposed to (though it's important to differentiate between working as they are meant to and working as I'd like them to) then the text of the review should mention that. When you use a word like "crap" you're being purposely inflammatory. Like calling someone who is sexually promiscuous a "slut". If you want to make a factual statement, then you could simply call them "promiscuous", but by giving them a derogatory label you are instead offering up your own personal opinion. So in your opinion Oblivion is crap. But due to the fact you claim that "I still admit they are crap", it's clear you don't think this is an opinion at all, but the objective truth, and anyone who disagrees with you, anyone who doesn't admit that Oblivion is crap is either a liar, too stupid to be able to see the truth, or corrupt. "x is crap" is ultimately a pretty worthless statement because all it tells us is that you don't like x, but it doesn't tell us why. In the end it doesn't matter why because you prove yourself to be just as biased (if not more biased) as the fanboys and reviewers you have a problem with.
  21. So this recent interview makes it clear they haven't yet decided to release BG&E2. Are you saying not releasing the game is an extremely bad management decision, or is the bad decision announcing the game over a year ago without knowing for sure it would be released? I still don't know what "like having Assasin Creeds 1 level being C/ped onto whole damn game and all means.
  22. What?' And why are you posting "announcements" that are over a year old?
  23. SOmetimes the opinion argument is valid; sometimes its not. It's valid when you agree with it, it's not when you don't. Now you're just making **** up. A high score for any game is not an indication that no other game will ever do it better. That doesn't even make any sense, how can you score a game against future games that don't yet exist? It's like when people complain that you can't give a game a score of 10 because 10 means the game is perfect and no game is perfect. Except the scores given to games have no inherent meaning, so if you're going to criticise a score you need to do so using the system the reviewer used, otherwise you're just arguing against your own strawman. When it comes to flaws/failures/broken parts/whatever, the truth is that what proves to be a huge stumbling block for one gamer/reviewer can end up being minor for another. A review is ultimately just an opinion piece, and if your opinion doesn't match it, it's much easier to accuse the reviewer of being stupid or brainwashed or bribed in an attempt to dismiss that opinion.
  24. I think it depends on the complaint/concern/issue, and especially how that complaint/concern/issue is worded. If, for example, you were making a turn-based game and the complaint was "OMG I hate turn-based I'll never play a turn-based game they all suck change it" then really what more is there to say than "This probably isn't the game for you"? I was recently looking at the forums of a few mod projects, and was surprised by just how bitchy the mod developers can be when faced with any level of criticism. It made me wonder if professional developers want to respond to forum posts in the same way. As for sex in games, I'm with Aristes in having a problem with folks thinking it equates to mature content. It's like a child swearing because they think it makes them sound grown-up, when all it really does is highlight their immaturity.
  25. It was actually the cop who claimed in his report that he spoke to the woman and she mentioned he was black, but her attorney claims she never even spoke to the officer. Anyway, from here:* Short version: being angry isn't a crime, the arrest was bull****. *Actually, I just stole it from another forum.
