  1. Yeah seriously. I am so annoyed by Aloth it is the single thing about the game that sticks out for me as bad. IDK if they made him like that on purpose or not, but in either case it's irritating xD I can cope with bugs and various nonsense, but why they had to turn him into this shallow, passive aggressive, stuck up, judgy, uptight hypocrite that tries to control you via his negative feelings towards others is totally beyond me. At one point you can even ask him about Tekehu, and he promises it "won't be a problem" but promtly continues to make it one. So this dude who lied to you and infiltrated your party in POE1, and who you might well have totally forgiven and told he's your equal when he fessed up, who stole the animancer who checked him out's research and you let him, who you caught in a lie again in Deadfire and covered up for him, is so superficial he judges people negatively on account of whether they crack jokes, don't take everything super seriously and say the odd self confident thing, or give 2 hoots about their culture (as opposed to caring whether they have their hearts in the right place), or positively depending upon whether their actions are purely driven by some sense of duty he may even suggest is misguided himself, and above all judges you on account of your interactions with said people instead of basing his opinion on something like that you have history and you stuck up for him through thick and thin? Plus if you left Iselmyr, she keeps popping out and making him look even more hypocritical. Amusingly I cracked every joke in the book in my last pt and encouraged Tekehu whenever possible, and still got +1 with Aloth eventually (although I did reload and redo the tavern scene with Tek w/o Aloth in my party to avoid the -1). My current char, who was supposed to romance Aloth, is iredeemably stuck at 0 even after finishing his personal quest (which also bugged out for me as the middle part never triggered) and in spite of reloading every time he visibly eyerolled at something, and trying mostly to avoid convo options that set him off. If it weren't for his voice actor, my stubborn nature and old time's sake, I'd either not recruit him at all or on purpose piss him off. He seems to have been wriiten with a main character in mind who'd never met him before, or one who told him he was only tolerated for being marginally useful on POE1. Even then, he'd be an idiot, but at least it wouldn't matter as much.
  2. I'm not sure what it was, but it killed me pretty fast. I ended up getting rid of it with the frostseeker bow.
  3. Before storming into the bug section I need to ask, has anyone ever played this and found the tavern section empty? The first time I played the game there was no one there, so in spite of finishing the area and getting notifications regarding the quest, I never got the achievement. I assumed I'd missed some hard to spot guy, but doing it the second time, there's a tavern full of blue ringed characters.
  4. Oh no! That sounds super annoying but funny at the same time xD
  5. I wouldn't want to wait for Obsidian to discover all bugs, fix them and release a bug free product, or even a reasonably bug free product. I want to play the game sooner. But this is because I don't mind to restart the game if some game breaking bug corrupted my save. With PoE 1 I restarted the game many times even without encountering any bugs. I kept making characters. Other players are not like this. They want to have a bug free game because they tend to play the game from start to end which can take them months. This is absolutely reasonable and there is a solution to this - wait until the game is sufficiently patched. This way those who don't care too much about bugs can play happily and even help with testing. End result: the game is fixed much sooner that it would otherwise. This is the realistic way to produce games. Attempting to only release bug free games is not going to work and can bankrupt the company. There's a difference between bug free and ridden with bugs that would have been avoidable given just a bit more testing (as evidenced by the amount of bugs reported in the first week) OR releasing the game as early access/open beta. What's wrong with a disclaimer that makes people realise they might not be buying a polished product? I'm not one of the people who's super annoyed by it - or I wouldn't play it (the only thing that really annoys me is Aloth) - but at the same time I can understand why someone who spent 60 $ is going to be miffed. Aside from quests not working if you do them in the "wrong" order or for no apparent reason (the game skipped half of Aloth's quest for me this time for no reason I can figure out), there are lots of weps with faulty descriptions, and a lot of the scripted interactions are littered with mistakes. I had one where I got Pallegina to do something, yet the game had Xoti, who wasn't in my party do it and Pallegina approved or disapproved (don't remember), for instance. You can't just tell people who bought a game expecting it to be finished that they should have waited - thus basically blaming them - it's not eaxctly cheap, and the bug-fixated negative reviews aren't doing it any favours. Also lots of people don't even visit forums etc and are just going to quit playing if their game bloops on them and tell their friends not to buy it.
  6. What was your funniest party wipe out? Mine was getting to Concelhaut and being killed by some sigil or other while reading the convo popup. This happened twice in a row as I cannot launch the interaction without triggering it and it's not targetable before. After the second time, the game crashed xD http://prntscr.com/jmega3 -edited to add, finally did manage to target it w/o triggering the convo, still pretty funny.
  7. I guess for the same reason Aloth lectures you about being traditional when you aren't but kisses the butts of any companions who do stuff out of duty even when he thinks the thing they are dutiful to is dubious?
  8. Except Maia doesn't always leave. She stuck around with me although I blew up the powder house, I just didn't have her in my party during any of the relevant convos. I read somewhere in this forum that the faction that becomes your antagonist is the one you had most approval with apart from the one you side with, but idk if this is the case. I sided with the Huana and the RDC was the final opponant.
  9. Nowadays companies don't pay beta testers or community managers, you are expected to do it for free and for some companies in the gaming industry support is also done by unpaid volunteers, why is beyond me unless the product is being made by a non-profit, but whatever. OFC the more companies do this, the more common it gets because companies that pay people eventually cannot compete with those that do not, etc. In the case of Deadfire, I think people actually paid to beta test during the crowdfunding. Anyway, throwing imperfect things on the market seems to be a modern thing. I used to argue about it with my ex boss, who said it's better to release something broken and fix it later than to spend more time trying to make it perfect- I still don't understand the reasoning but apparently it somehow ends up being more profitable. *shrug*
  10. Or have a place where people think it's rude to be dressed xD I once read about a place where it was considered rude to eat in public, but fine to have sex in front of everyone, but no clue where or if it was real or fictional lol
  11. Actually why is nudity taboo in a game full of hardcore violence where you can even eat corpses? I'm not sure I understand social priorities sometimes, like who cares? xD
  12. Not sure what you're saying, but I *have* been been boring in convos and also reloaded the game every time Aloth disapproved visibly. Tek, Sera and Eder are all at 2.
  13. That sounds great, but I suppose there's no fixing the companions and broken quests on the horizon? Or does that go w/o saying?
  14. I didn't figure out how to get crew in port maje in my first playthrough, but it's not the end of the world to get them in Neketaka, it just costs more haha.
  15. Ugh finished Aloth's personal quest and still at 0. My only hope to get into a romance with him w/o cheating seems to be to do the rivalmance thing. *weeps*
  16. My crew no longer heals irrepsective of whether they are at a working post or not. I lose moral for "working with injury" but the medicine supplies stay at 200. I have an expert surgeon. I also tried the entering and leaving Neketaka trick. This is my second pt and I'm having way more bugs than the first time.
  17. Just use the unity console: https://www.nexusmods.com/pillarsofeternity2/mods/2 It will not break anything and his dialogues will immediately trigger at 50 (i think) and 150 points, the reverse if you want rivalmance. Maybe next time. I'm incredibly stubborn and want to be able to do it without cheating, so I'll just get more and more bitter and twisted about Aloth xD I do start doing stuff like that after I've played a game several times though.
  18. Well, if you don't mind exploiting the game a bit, you can gain his approval (and Pallegina's) by taking the quest in Radiant Court, Dunnage (the one where you need to find people for the play): you'll be asked to free a mage who's working in the King's Coffin. Ask the tavern keeper, if you could settle her debt (Aloth and Pallegina will both approve). The tavern keeper will refuse. Leave conversation. Enter conversation and ask again, if you could settle her debt (Aloth and Pallegina will approve again). Leave conversation. Rinse, repeat. Someone else suggested that, but alas, I did that quest quite a long time ago.
  19. He sure does xD I mean, in addition to that idle line, he has another one, when you enter the bathhouse, something like: "Once this is all over, I'd like to spend more time here together". If only I could get his approval over 0 without ruining my character's personality even more than I already have ...
  20. I made a Bleak Walker and got - 1 with Eder before even getting to Port Maje, so your main char can piss him off by being an a33hole. As for Aloth, he's in general a hypocritial, superficial killjoy in this game. I can't for the life of me figure out why they made him so obnoxious and judgemental. It's the worst part of the game for me *weeps*.
  21. I'm a woman and I never even noticed it. Considering how many people the Watcher kills and whatnot, I think whether Eder treats them like a male buddy with the odd backslap is the least of one's problems on the ladylike front xD Having said that, I always play male chars, but if I didn't, I still wouldn't expect Eder to tiptoe around me.
  22. Too bad I had already done that. I was wondering how to avoid a fight with those druids.
  23. Complete chaos in the Deadfire as all four factions fight over who gets to control Ukaizo. (On the bright side, though, none of your companions leave!) Just make sure you upgrade your hull and sails or you will die. None of mine left when I sided with the Huana either xD
  24. What happens if you side with no one and sail off on your own?
