  1. Never said Oblivion is the best in the AAA industry or even good, but I'm just saying it's not the worst. I'm only saying that it's got the best high points of VO in the Elder Scrolls series, as I said before, not sure which has the most low point - I imagine all of them do equally since we can find any Elder Scroll game on "The worst voice acting" youtube videos.
  2. As far as strictly AAA, it seems Bioware classics are among the worst of the industry, (perhaps it's because that's when voice acting was just becoming a thing in the games industry?) And even Bioware's newest games are also still the worst of today's gaming. I'd say Capcom comes in close second with alot of their games. Excluding my nostalgia factors though, here I see some amazing voice over work.. But I do agree with the video comments which state that that Elder Scrolls games has the worst lip syncing in the industry, as far as the good vs bad ratio, Oblivion and ESO have the greatest VO moments and the best writing and that probably has to do with the A budget hollywood actors they hired to voice the main characters. Whilist, I'm not sure who has the "worst" of worst in the series, Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim have some pretty equally bad moments but that is why I placed Oblivion higher than the other single player ES games. There's nothing quite like hearing Patty Stewy's voice when you awake from the coffin of tamriel heights but Kate Beckinsale was a warm welcome in ESO. Now I'm curious of what the new voices in ESO New Morrowind will be like. I got my beta key, I should probably check it out.
  3. By the nine divines, someone's stolen all've me sweetrolls! Alarm the Imperial Gaurds at once... GAURDS, GAURDS!!!
  4. No YS????? How dare you! No Trails Of???? How dare you!! I vote for Tales Of Symphonia
  5. Not even close, though I'm wondering how many games with voice acting you've actually played. Elder scrolls aren't particularly the best, Morrowind, Oblivion, Skyrim may each have their own faults in voice acting (I could name cheap small budget indie titles who blow these games out the water) but they aren't by any means the worst in the industry.
  6. I consider myself to be a bit addicted lately, but only because I'm trying to finish as many games as possible (from my backlog) That saying, I've got a pretty hefty list. I'm not ganing all day or everyday, just when I get the chance. Still, this is alot for me as I normally go for like 2 or 3 weeks without playing once, then play like a whole day lol Right now Ive been playing bits here and there so it all feels fresher and more consistent. Addiction is hard for some to own up to, so it's always an interesting topic.
  7. I'm confused about the religious comment. Christians, Satanists, Buddhists Catholics, etc. all smoke weed just the same as any non-church attender. It would be hard for anyone to find a church with at least a few people who did not smoke weed or drink alcohol at least, even on payroll or position.
  8. Well I didn't exactly know what Syndicate is/was and yes, I only took a stab at it only shortly after Satellite Reign released. That said, it didn't remind of Syndicate alone but it's obviously where the main source of inspiration was from. I'm guessing Syndicate was one of those games that released and didn't get recieved or sell too well but had a small cult following (as alot of games in the 90's did). Am I correct to assume this? The fun part is when he doesn't understand why other posters say he's trolling. Nah, I understand that people get hurt feelings when someone says something they don't agree with, or that person will turn it around to make it look like the one "trolling" has no idea what they're talking about. Quite different from real trolling, what I can't understand is why people on the Obsidian forums can't tell the difference or at least talk to the person more about it rather than accusing (which seems more logical) but hey, we're on the Internet Either way, I meant no offense. Edit: I was wrong, it's Syndicate Wars, not Syndicate.. price of playing too many games lately, making it easy to mix up names). Syndicate Wars is quite different from Syndicate so that's my bad.
  9. I was going to post that and fell asleep Satellite Reign that boring ? I should have waited, I bought that a year or so ago It's pretty boring, I'd say, and this coming from someone who loves cyber-punk, hacking type stuff. I refunded it in Steam, when I heard HB was giving it away I just said "No thanks." It's basically a spiritual successor of Syndicate according to the devs, which was a horrid game in itself.
  10. Lol I think this same exact thing every time I get on this forum
  11. Yeah, I know what you mean. That's actually the reason I love Supergiant's games (Bastion, Transistor, Pyre) They are essentially somewhere around 12 hour games but everything has meaning at least lol I have to give alt of credit to indies that I've discovered throughout the last 3 to 4 years, they've really opened my eyes to appreciate different things such as how shorter/smaller games are actually better off.
  12. Shorter rpg's with not much grind (shave off that filler), memorable stories and soundtracks, decent characters at least. The lesser crafting, the better, also fun combat...
  13. Macross X, undoubtedly. And my favorite mech game will always be Brigador which often gets mistaken for a twin stick shooter but isn't even close).
  14. Nothing wrong with guys that grew up next to a giant volcano that constantly spews fine ash not sounding like random passersby from LA shoved into a recording booth.Indeed lol It's super terrible, among the worst actually.. unless people don't consider a constipated cookie monster to be bad? Where's the effort?
  15. It's mainly because there was nothing wrong with it, but some people out there will probably complain about it lol It's the internet, sometimes it doesn't even have to be about what's preferable, some people just like to talk Anyways, Skyrim's voice acting/voice overs and wtiting in general is pretty good actually, and so was Oblivion. Morrowind on the other hand....
  16. I think it's pretty funny then, that it could possibly upset people like this lol I wish Spoony would learn to move on and realize that we have plenty of other games which are just emotionally rewarding to choose from Of course, I'm guessing the video is years old so maybe he has... hopefully.
  17. Nope. No smoking or drinking in my house (My wife and I have kids), I might have a few drinks at my family members house and play some Need For Speed. I don't smoke cigarettes or weed period, my house is as clean as an elven's arse.
  18. Excited here as well! Unfortunately not alot of news lately, we have older update videos and beta playthroughs but as we all know, that's pretty much irrelevant now with all the last minute changes of things (vastly affecting the game more than we know).
  19. Indeed. Is it really bad writing? Or is it comic phrase implemented in a way that wasn't recieved particularly well by those who couldn't tell the difference of a bad voice actor and bad writing? It seems, so many rpg's (and games in general) have alot of these moments but the voice actors do a better job -today- at presenting them, thus less room for a critical evaluation of chancing a "Bad writing" reception (even though it was really bad voice acting and not bad writing).
  20. It proves exactly what I said. Voice overs provide emotion that texts cannot, but texts cannot provide emotion that a voice over can... unless the reader misinterprets it as so, which is a totally different issue on their behalf.
  21. Games with voices have just as many options but presented in different ways. Some may argue that the way each is presented makes it more or less of a role playing stance but that has never been proven to be such the case. You see, text and voice differenciation does not dictate if a game allows for more or less of a given feature, mechanic or trait for each game BUT it does offer accessibility to the disabled. For example, the deaf can read text, the legally blind can hear audio. In case someone tells me "The blind do not play games" they need to look up what legally blind means, of course the legally blind or vision impaired play games, this is an argument which people disagree on and ignore facts for passing their opinion as law which makes it a hard discussion. At hand, we have two sides of a nickel but the past of both types of games prove that the experience can be identical since the way of narrative does not manipulate the game as a whole.
  22. I don't see why not, the backdrops are still nothing but pre-rendered so it wouldn't be hard to add support for ultra wide-screen 21:9 support
