  1. There is reason to hate. It's obvious that it wasn't her best performance. This is NOT subjective or an opinion if you check out her other stuff. Period.
  2. I hear it's far worse than Skyrim, is it true? Because Skyrim is the worst experience I've ever had in terms of broken quests and buggertry.
  3. It's never a good idea. This isn't The Witcher 3 which is a huge brand, it's a very niche Crpg. Most people will not agree with expansions being split into 3 and you'll all see where I'm right when the sales comes in at release of each expansion vs the sale price or complete edition.
  4. It's indeed strange that Obsidian pulled a Far Cry here. That's not a bad thing
  5. Can I make this my signature? This is the most meme worthy internet comment I've read all year, it makes me smile just looking at it
  6. Please like and rate the video! (Classic video)
  7. Word from the wise: This game is good but you should wait for a major sale wherethou one could get the gaame with dlc fo a total of that which the game is now ($49.99) I say this as a backer who got the dlc pass and the base game for $65. Nobody should have to pay more just because they didn't back the game, especially when it's released (like this). That said, the game is good. Very good, just not all that "worth it" good.
  8. The hot babe covered in tattoos, yup. Yes, she obviously was bored to hell. On the contrary, if we go back and take a look at the closed documents, we'd find the anti-sjw's are to blame. Some Ashley is better than no Ashley
  9. The patch will take awhile and even after, more patches will be needed. There is ALOT of stuff to patch... TOO much it seems.
  10. That's about 25-50 hours less than it takes to 100% a Lego game (average Lego game taking 100-125 hours for completionist, going by record analysis on Steam graphs).
  11. I've said it before and I'll say it again, the closest thing to a rpg with perfext ship-combat/crew mechnics integration is Sunless Sea. Obsidian could have taken a few nods from this and flawlessly intertwined it but no, they wanted to be innovative I guess. The result is a naval system that is just as unfocused and unbalanced as everything else in the game.
  12. I have no issue with shorter games, played many games which are 15 hour rpg's that put Baldurs Gate 1&2 to shame in terms of writing and gameplay. If were being honest, Sometimes games are shorter because the devs and writers purposely leave out the bs filler and unnecessary stuff. I have to agree with the people saying that there is nothing disappointing about a shorter rpg or a short rpg. Though, you certainly have the right to your "bang for the buck, hours for dollar" argument. There is nothing illogical about it. Some people love the filler stuff, grinding and so on.
  13. Ofcourse Obsidian want constructive criticism, but that's really not what's going on here. You're being completely tunnelvisioned, and your claims are false. It's not debatable. The consensus on steam, and on metacritic is that 90% of the reviews are very to overwhelmingly positive. An unplayable bugfest as you describe would NEVER get such reviews. Noone is saying, that there isn't any bugs, but it's really a minor issue for the most part. You're grasping at straws to force your false narrative upon this forum, and it's getting so damn old. No, you're changing/manipulating my words as usual, as others have done just because they don't like ir agree with what I'm saying and that's what's "getting so damn old". If you actually read my comments, I never said the majority of the reviews for Deadfire are negative, I said they were positive from people who are either experiencing bugs or think the first game is better than the second. No clue why you and others think thid false when it's easily readable as well as public. As for your last false claim, no, not at all true. Nier: Automata is one of the poorest optimized and bugged games on Steam and it has an 82% positive rating, after the patch was finally released I was able to enjoy the game at an unbelievable 30fps which warranted me to give it a positive position review. I won't even get into Bethesda games which have the same affect at launch. Point being, the bugs are so diverse that not everyone is affected the same way and even so, people are enjoying the game regardless.
  14. Console. The console sales will probably suffer the same fate as the first (one of the poporest seeling games on XB1/PS4 of all time. Support Obsidian and buy it on console as well!
  15. If being truthful about others experiences with the game's performance and current state is going to make me the bad guy, I have no issues with that. The negative reviews are what the devs treasure and read, unlike members here, they will take that constructive criticism as a positive note and use it to improve Deadfire, the dlc's and their upcoming game.
  16. It appears you and other members aren't reading the majority reviews like I am. It's really not as puzzling as you and others might think... If the majority was saying different, I'd have no problem admitting to it. This isn't a "Nobody likes the game" sorta thing. I actually want Deadfire to succeed and to do that I'm going to be transparent and honest about what others experiences are with the game.
  17. I've said it a few times, I'm waiting for the patch that fixes everything. While people are enjoying the game, the vast majority of the reviews (both positove and negative) claim the game is riddled with either minor or game breaking bugs. I'm not the type who can enjoy bugs, Bethesda games broke my patience for such things and since Obsidian has a past which is even worse than Bethseda, I'm holding off. Diffenet players are experiencing different types of bugs. Someone may have crashes and others may have something smaller like an enemy bug in a dungeon but all these bugs are the game. If you can look past the bugs, you may enjoy it. It's really about how much you can tolerate.
  18. This isn't an argument and I'm not the one trying to justify or excuse the game's bugginess and faults for the sake of manipulating the thread to one's own specified standard. Once you realize you're doing this, then maybe things eill go more smoothly for you. Whether you deem the "second-handed experience" of reviews or not, you cannot disregard the fact that this is exactly what the thread is about or based on. You trying to validate that your own expwrience is somehow more valid than other's experiences just because they are not a member here (therefore cannot defend themselves and have a say) is quite underwhelming to say the least. I haven't said anything untrue, the only one spouting ignorance here is you, if you're all about "winning" something that was never an arguement, if it makes you feel better, than I'll just say you win and give you the crown but it is quite clear that your opinion has no stance about the fact that the majority of positive reviews even states the game has bugs. There's no need to have hostility or any ill feeling toward me for stating other's opinions/experience. This has nothing to do with inexperience or knowledge, you've got it wrong... but yeah. You win, congrats!
  19. Well like I have said in many threads, I, too, am a fanboy of Obsidian and Pillars. Chances are - if you're an active member here, you're probably a fanboy. There are pros and cons to this. However "fanboying" is a bit different, usually when members here start denying the faults if the game or bugs ir the fact that even the vast majority of reviews state that the game is buggy or that the game in some way or form isn't, then this is what paints fanboyism in a negative spotlight. I just don't see what's wrong with pointing these things out as they will only help Obsidian ne a better team in the long run, on the bright side, I'm sure they are working hard to fix the severely bugged game and I bet the writing in the expansions will be better quality. Thank you, you enjoy your day as well Fluffle, captain of the black isle bastards! <3
  20. So what does that mean for the score of Pillars 1? There aren't negative scores. Should there be an exception for Pillars 1? From all the games, ever made and criticized on Metacritic, Pillars 1 should be the one where a negative score should be allowed? Or how would you like to express the "huge improvement" of Deadfire over Pillars 1? The improvement is so huge, that a score of 0 is warranted for both games? No, that does not explain it. You said "might".So your sentence can be interpreted that way that you think it's rather unlikely that the guy actually went out of proportions with his criticism. No, what it means is that you're quoting my words out of context and misinterpreting them on purpose. In other words, you are being incredibly dishonest and overall despicable. Now I understand that you as a fanboi might be butthurt when someone doesn't like your game, but that doesn't give you the right to start twisting my words in order to paint me as your opposition just for stating the fact that there is an element of truth to the criticism. It's a forum, isn't that how it always works? Nevermind the fact that the negative reviews aren't really "negative" reviews which bash the game but point out it's faults but people here will white knight the game and defend it to the death because that's the goal of any based forum. Let's discard any legitimate criticisms to better the game because we want to make the game and devs look good. Who cares if everyone else has to suffer? No, of course people like you and me who are actually playing Deadfire, as well as the overall percentile are lying to themselves. The person who hasn't even touched the game and is basing the "general consensus" on a small percentage of cherry-picked Steam reviews is absolutely correct in their assumptions.Stop your fanboying lol Playing the game has nothing to do with observing the reviews. What you or I think about the game is irrelevant, the topic is about negative reviews in general, the forums member's experiences are less trustworthy than that of say someone on Steam because at least they are less likely to be tainted with favoritism and bias. Alas, What I have been saying has been true, no matter how we try to sugar coat or justify these things. The generic "You don't know what you're talking about" is no good here when any reader can look up for themselves. Edit: Btw you're right, I haven't played the game, as many others, I'm waiting for the game to be patched so it can actually work, not that it matters.
  21. Sigh. Can you stop with your uninformed opinions? Have you even started playing the game by now or are you still trying to convince yourself that you shouldn't pick it up? Deadfire has the same Steam user score and a higher Metacritic score (both professional and user) than its predecessor, for all that user reviews are worth seeing that the majority of them are pretty much vapid - despite a somewhat buggy launch. So in which world exactly does that lead to your "general consensus"? Yes there are quite a few bugs, some minor and others more severe but the game is far from the unplayable bug-fest some of you are making it out to be. That obviously doesn't excuse the Eder thing, which is pretty mind-boggling, and the game would have benefited from some more QA, but what's done is done and what is left is for us to see how fast they are on the beauty treatment front. The patch coming tomorrow is a good start. It is the general consensus whether you like it or not. Would you rather me lie just because I'm here on the Obsidian forum? Positive and negative reviews alike, I'm not sure what's wrong with this though, it's not saying the game is bad. Yes, its bugged to hell and back. There is an isolated (very small) peercentage who have not "noticed" any bugs in their plythrough but even positive reviews will tell you it's a buggy mess. We have no clue what the patch will do, hell, it may even bring new bugs or make things worse. At this point we don't really know.
  22. Games are not books, in no way do the two mediums operate the same, there is much more focus on a visual and gameplay controk aspect in a video game that is missing from books. That said, I shouldn't EVER have to play a game for more than a few hours to discover if it's good or not. I should be able yo tell right off the bat, either by the main protagonists, the settings, the atmosphere, etc. The generic excuse of "you need to give the game more time to give it a fair chance" never really existed in reality. The fact is that there are thousands of great rpg's, alot which are far better than IE rpgs in both mechanics and storytelling but excluding that fact, if people don't prefer Pillars over say Divinity or Moon Orient, doesn't mean they don't know as much as these older folks who cling to their BG for life, it also doesn't mean that they have bad tastes. In regards to the OP's question, I suppose they just didn't like it. Pillars is a very niche product, if I hadn't grown up on IE games, I poabably would have no interest in it and more interest in Jrpg's. There's really no use in yourself or any other member trying to unlock the riddle of the possibilities to why, it's not going to happen. People need to get over the fact that it's not the greatest franchise but it's also not the worst. This isn't even the best place to ask as it's an Obsidian forum
