  1. you know, i'd actually like to see what they could do about creating something akin to the more classic isometric fallout game.
  2. personally, when i'm playing open-world titles i think of reasons that would allow my character to muck about for a while. in skyrim for instance, for quite a while my character doesn't know about alduin, the end of the world or all that nonsense. all s/he knows is that dragons are back. so why not join the fighters guild, mage college, or end the civil war? in deadfire, it was simply... i'm still fairly weak, flat broke and i'll be following eathos into rather lethal terrain, so i better get some gear, fix up my ship, or buy a bigger one, recruit some adventurers, etc. as i'm not likely going to survive another go if i muck this up. to me perfectly acceptable reasons to muck about for two years.
  3. actually, i thought your character was special because s/he was awakening or awakened as well as being a watcher. assuming being a watcher doesn't automatically mean you're awakened to begin with. (which i'm not entirely clear on)
  4. after a few occasions of clearing out a nest of fampyrs i left said dungeons in a rather foul mood, which led my watcher to giving a few islands rather unfortunate names...
  5. well..you could add Intimidate to the list of agressive...and you can avoid killing lol yep, but those responses were fairly rare, iirc. at least till after port maje ---edit might as well explain my character a bit while i'm at it. she was a devout follower and priestess of magran in poe1, as well as an elf sized moon godlike, and a drifter from the deadfire archipelago. she preferred chainmail, a medium shield, and a rapier. i called her a close support character, and she worked really well as a front-line healer, buffer/debuffer. now, during poe's main quest and in her conversations with durance, followed by interacting with the gods at twin elms, and then everything that transpired at sun in shadow... she became completely disillusioned with the gods, including magran. she doesn't care that they're engwithan constructs. she was appalled by the fact that they were all acting like spoiled children, wielding power they don't really understand (as my character saw it), and lack the wisdom, temperament and patience to use their stolen powers responsibly. and was getting fed up with their dangerous temper-tantrums. however, she still goes through the motions of her faith, as she doesn't know any other way to be or act. which annoys her a bit too.
  6. So ? unless you want to play evil ? if she favor diplomacie...that should work well for you right? if she did, however, diplomacy is currently disfavored by her. Urgh..my bad... Well agressive doesn't automaticly mean Kill! kill! ready or likely to attack or confront; characterized by or resulting from aggression. So..you can play someone who is in your face , but with a leash on . And only kill those who either don't back down , or deserve it in your own opinion . from my vantage point at least in the beginning, aggressive did basically seem to boil down to stick my rapier through your throat. as far as i could tell.

  8. favored would be, clever, aggressive -- dis = diplomatic, passionate. magran favors bold action tempered with cleverness. so picking fights for no reason, is usually viewed as a misinterpretation of magran's teaching.
  9. latest i've heard (which was a little before launch) was 4-6 weeks from launch date, iirc. don't really recall who said it, so can't vouch for validity.
  10. however, did you still blowup the powder-keg at the citadel? a few people think that's not particularly good, if not evil in and of itself. me, i'm on the fence there. though imho it doesn't seem to be particularly good to me.
  11. I recall the same thing. Not to mention the Rauataians have two millenia of expertise weathering storms, so I imagine they simply rebuilt the huts in a way they know is better at weathering storms. You are both correct, that is exactly what they did. And they did it by completely disregarding what the indigenous population wanted, and completely ignoring their culture. Because Rauatai knows better. i'm not exactly arguing against that point, per say... i just think it's possible that the RDC figured expending resources on a single large structure was more efficient then rebuilding the entire village as it was. now, it's also quite... or even more likely that it was also an attempt to force the huana out of their caste system, though there are potentially other reasons for building the longhouse over rebuilding the entire village.
  12. so, basically in poe1 i had no issues playing as a "proper" priest of magran, the dialogue allowed for the proper roleplaying through dialogue options. in deadfire, at least up to port maje in many cases my only dialogue options seemed to be either diplomacy, or attack for no apparent reason. there wasn't enough cleverness, or intimation, perception checks etc. now, you can play a priest of magran who is aggressive without cause (though as far as i can tell it's not the proper execution of magranite doctrine as i understand it) as it stands my choices mainly seem to be murderous rampage, or diplomacy, in many cases with nothing else in between them, at least in this playthrough. following magrans path isn't about picking pointless fights, simply for the sake of picking fights. *sigh* or am i completely missing something here?
  13. wait... there were sex scenes in deadfire? i know i'm not blind. but i must have missed something. unless fade to black is now considered a sex scene these days. *sigh*
  14. usually for me with 3 or more fampyrs it dominates most of my party, however, that might have something to do with the fact that i was using a fully upgraded modwyr, and or that small shield (who's name escapes me for the moment), so without them it might have been my entire party... who knows?
  15. well, to be honest your party and a few of the npcs bathing at the bathhouse are in their underwear. however odd that maybe...
  16. is it just me or is the dialogue even more broken after that last patch? as i'm seeing far more convo indicators that don't trigger any new dialogue, and usually followed by other dialogue oddities.
  17. iirc, the RDC didn't tear down anything. there was some kind of disaster (storm, tsunami or something) that leveled most of their huts. and instead of rebuilding the village to the huana's satisfaction, the rdc built them the longhouse instead. perhaps it was just a more rational use of resources? build a single large building, instead of a village of smaller ones?
  18. in a few games vampires themselves say shotguns are trouble, but who knew the extent of it?
  19. mainly i just try to pick up portraits that could be a match for the character creation options we're given. mighty hard at times i admit.
  20. in my case, my paladins managed to hit my party members just fine. it's just the aegis didn't do anything about 1/3 of the time, i saw the damage in the combat log, and its fairly visible on the healthbar too. or at least i think i did, it's hard to tell exactly what was going on in that mess post combat.
  21. unless tebe was conscripted i have to say using her as an assimilation checkmark is a bit of a misnomer... as far as i know she is receiving job training, a position called a greeter, unless i'm mistaken. is it wrong for the royal deadfire company to wish for their employees who are quite literally representatives (as she is a greeter after all) to address visitors in a specific manner?
  22. you know what i would have liked in lieu of an actual good guy ending. the attempt to bring about a longshot potential good guy ending or at least the setup for one that falls flat on it's face. a complete failure every time, where at least there's the option to try for it.
