  1. well, in theory it would be best for huana civilization to adapt to current situational changes of their own accord... however, allowing their caste system to persist well past it's prime... has actually lead or was leading to destabilization on it's own, though that's really besides the point... i'm rather neutral about the morality of the issues involved in foreign intervention under these circumstances. i can see it turning either way.
  2. In real world terms, muscle strength is directly correlated with muscle size - the literal length of muscle fibers, the density of those fibers, etc. In terms of other settings, it's why dwarves either have a Strength bonus compared to humans, or why they're able to ignore the weight of armor that slows humans down (basically "they're strong for their size" in a different gameplay representation.) That doesn't necessarily matter in Eora because of the soul power concept, but it does make me wonder why Dwarves and Amaua are apparently much stronger-willed (or however "soul power" is represented) than the other kith races, and why Orlans are weaker-willed while simultaneously stronger-willed compared to other kith. Shortest answer is that they probably shouldn't have even had Might as a stat, or gone to great lengths to ensure that people understood the Might attribute has **** all to do with physical strength (even though in interactions it's virtually only ever used as raw physical strength...) notice, i said bulk, as in body mass. not muscle. bulk doesn't equal muscle. that was my statement. though, somehow what you must have heard is muscle doesn't equal muscle. does that even make any sense to anyone? as it surely doesn't to me.
  3. Doesn't fill me with much confidence. Come back to me on this when you have a degree in the field. if i new more about how the RDC was organized, and how it functioned i might have an easier time labeling it a fascist regime. they are militaristic, though it doesn't seem like a police state, nor do i know for sure it's an actual dictatorship, however, i assume it is, i'd just like to know more. There's some lore available: https://pillarsofeternity.gamepedia.com/Rauatai https://pillarsofeternity.gamepedia.com/Royal_Deadfire_Company based on the info provided in the links, i've come to the conclusion that... the royal deadfire company, or should i say the Rauatain Empire is close to being a fascist state, though currently... right now it's just a military dictatorship. (which is not strictly fascism) however, i'm just a guy with a high-school level understanding of fascism... though, i'd say that's likely the best we'll manage unless someone studying... what? political sciences? graces us with their presence and knowledge. ---edit typo (im just tired)

  5. in deadfire i'd say it would be a bleakwalker paladin/berath priest crusader. (is that even doable with the restrictions?)
  6. If you wanna find fascists in the game better look at RDC, I've seen people throwing that label at them already. if you're wondering why i'm so confident about my definition of fascism it's because i did a paper about it in high-school spent a lot of time studying (as i'm a bit of a perfectionist), it kind of stuck too.
  7. Doesn't really sound like Huana and you forgot other major definitions - mass mobilization of civilians, being pro-militaristic and politically aggressive towards other nations. If you wanna put a label on them I'd say Huana are actually more communist in nature than anything else. you're thinking of a specific subset of fascism, fascism itself doesn't require mobilization of civilians, or military aggression. and in my opinion the soviet version of communism was just fascism in a thinly cloaked disguise. the rest of my statement still stands, as i've seen the aforementioned marks of fascism in neketaka myself.
  8. Clearly my definition of fascism differs from yours. But I see this word being thrown at most factions here without much thought. And also, before accusing anybody of oppression you should check out Indian Hinduism and its relation to their caste system to get a clearer impression of how Huana people view their life. i classify fascism as a governmental system led by a dictator having complete power, suppressing opposition and criticism usually with force, directly controlling all industry, commerce, etc. usually backed by racist agenda (but not always). fairly close to a textbook definition iirc, and if you were paying attention a lot of that was going on at neketaka. ---edit and also within this thread i think i've only used fascism to describe the huana's caste system, and related fields.
  9. Hey, I'm just sharing my personal opinions. You don't have to agree to them. from my prospective the extent of your argument was basically: it's their right to be fascists if they want to, and the situation is fine as is, because it's their job to fix it themselves. even if the oppressed are unable to do so.
  10. also bulk doesn't necessarily translate to muscle. though it looks like someone already beat me to that point. *sigh*
  11. i have been looking everywhere for that, and i'm fairly sure i checked there as well... how did i miss it? *sigh* well, thanx.
  12. i might start doing that again, however, i find the skill selections the auto-levelup system picks are fairly... stupid, and i'm not fond of wasting the coin it cost to undo it. You can turn off auto-level and level them up yourself. i've been looking for an option to do that for ages. now, i feel like an idiot myself for having to ask... but, how would i do that?
  13. the point i was making was that: while the wheel is broken the souls trapped in the in-between as well as the souls of everyone who dies after this point will be stuck there, now, no matter what transpires (or rather transpires in regards to safe-harbor vs inspiration) it will still take a lot of time to find a solution. now, if inspiration speeds up the process rapidly meaning years instead of decades, or months instead of years, then i might see it as a more viable (instead of equally viable) option. but, having seen both outcomes play out i'd say letting eothas build this safe heaven for souls is perhaps slightly more acceptable, though that requires metagame knowledge, so on the surface, in my mind they are equally viable options.
  14. i might start doing that again, however, i find the skill selections the auto-levelup system picks are fairly... stupid, and i'm not fond of wasting the coin it cost to undo it.
  15. Kind, but not pragmatic. I think giving people an inspiration that leads to incredible rate of innovations and insight may actually bring that permanent solution way faster. i don't really play an rpg as myself, kind of boring no? i play rpgs as my character would, so my benevolent character would likely go for the safe harbor, while a more rational one might go for the inspiration route. not sure how i'd handle that situation personally, but i honestly don't know what option is better, if there's such a thing as better in this context... ---edit is it better to let thousands or hundreds of thousands of souls suffer just for the sake of restoring the cycle more quickly? suffering solely for expedience isn't really a good answer.
  16. the main story was... not horrible. however, the ending of the game didn't really feel like an ending, more like a place holder so events wouldn't be resolved so they could be settled further down the road. kind of like how the empire strikes back felt to me within the starwars saga. now, the non-main-quest content felt really good to me, especially blowing up ben, that to was one of those pivotal moments in the game for me, even though it wasn't all that important overall.
  17. I'd rather live in an exciting world shaped by animancers innovations than under a boring bootheel of a Rauatai empire. And all mistakes made the Vailians concerning adra and animancy seem stem from ignorance - they still don't understand a lot about them. I'd imagine learning that abusing souls for frivolities will spell potential doom on all the world will certainly reign in the most atrocious researches. But opening their eyes to the danger can only be gained through knowledge, which is why it is better that they have it from Ukaizo and Eothas inspiration. unless you had eothas use his remaining strength to create a safe harbor for the displaced souls, until a more permanent solution can be found.
  18. funny, if it wasn't for the fact i had maia in my party during the mercenary attack at the animancer's tower, i'd have thought alvari was behind the attack, trying to sabotage castro's animancy research. though, the merc's reaction to her stopped that chain of thought pretty quick.
  19. i remember that massive cavebear near the beginning of poe1, in my first playthrough i just wandered into that cave, and it was just my ranger and her wolf... took me 5 tries but i did eventually manage to kill it, though ifrit still went down, unavoidable solo at that level i guess. does this count as a spoiler?
  20. Hey, I don't like them much either, but keep in mind that all cultures evolved by adapting to the environment. It is most likely that this caste system came into place for the Huana to survive after the cataclysm destroyed their old nation. So it is not beyond belief to imagine it can evolve again by being influenced by foreign factors. But I'm for gentle fusing approach, not for forceful militaristic approach. my best guess is that the only internal means of changing the caste system is a revolt from a properly organized underclass... which might actually happen if you left them to starve. ---edit unless they starve to quickly, and die out, or are put down before they're allowed to organize.
  21. fampyr dominate abilities are resistant to aegis of loyalty, and once struck usually immediately revert back to being dominated if it actually works. or at least in my experience with those little ****ers.
