POE (ps4) Long load times

Obsidian didn't develop the port, Paradox did. I'd advise to ask over on their forums -
What Book(s) or Author would like to be turned into a game?
HooAmEye replied to EbonyBetty's topic in Computer and Console
It' time for the real White Wolf to step forward, Elric must claim his throne. For those not in the know, imagine the best parts of Warhammer/ Witcher/ Elder Scrolls (which mostly ripped off Moore****), then add reality storms. sentient soul weapons, and a whole lot of horror. So wonderful, so underused. Apart from that, I would love to see a game based on the Laundry Files too.- 64 replies

Your Gender/Sex IN VIDEO GAMES, and does it matter to you?
HooAmEye replied to nstgc's topic in Computer and Console
I'm pretty sure that I am not attracted to Death Godlike -
One of my favorite Lovecraft facts is that toward the end of his life he stated that the opinions of his younger self were incredibly foolish, misguided, and obnoxious. Aka, the biggest racist of fiction in the last century thought he was being an idiot when espousing those views.

So I've been replaying Freedom Force (which holds up surprisingly well), and I realized there really is no superhero rpgs. Now what I want isn't something like the Marvel/DC movie shlock, but rather a send up toward the more cerebral and high minded superhero works. Imagine a work combining Uncanny X-Force, Hickman's Avengers, Grant Morrison's Batman, Ostrander's Suicide Squad, Starman, Worm, and Invincible into an awesome game. Dream game right there

Have you ever read Riverworld? The premise is pretty much this, where all cultures of human history up to 2008 have been mysteriously reborn on an alien planet. The series then focuses on the contact events between various cultures, how they manage to communicate (Esperanto is finally useful), and conflicting moral values. Great read, but avoid the adaptations. Apart from that though, I'd be interested by a meeting of the same culture through multiple periods. For example, what would the meeting of precolonial/ Apartheid / and modern South Africans think of each other. How would feverent communist Chinese revolutionaries react to modern capitalist China? What about the various stages of the Vatican/ Haifa / Kairouan?

If it's so easy to implement a third gender, which as has been stated already is pointless given the last of a first or second, then why is it so many devs choose to have only one sex/gender? That is a more than a little bit different a situation though. In big AAA games one would need to rig a full new model, animations, VA work, and multiple sets of reactions toward the PC. None of these problems would be had in PoE given that the PC doesn't speak, would already use the same animations, and the models are reapeatedly used already. What is being asked for is more of a textual variable to be added along the already present She/He

I'm honestly doubting it would be that hard to implement. Now I don't have code to look at from PoE right now, but I'm assuming it works on the same basis as the Baldur's Gate game in terms of referencing gender. That is to say, when one would state the PC's gender it would check (Male/Female) variable and implement (he/her). I don't really understand how adding a third variable, which we call "Other" would be that hard to add.

Well, if you are asking for representation, then you're in luck. PoE is pretty much the most aetheistic video game setting out there given that it is more or less an adaptation of "Thus Spoke Zarathustra". Also, I have never ever seen someone mocked or beaten for a lack of faith in the western world.

Yeah, I'd be down. It isn't really resource consuming, and doesn't change the story at all so there isnt a reason for it not to be there

Man, I have absolutely no idea what you mean by "elephant in the room". Is it the fact that she was an open lesbian in a world that seems to be perfectly fine with it? It's not like there are plenty who view homesexual relationships as fine, and dozens of cultures throughout history who didn't find anything abarrent it. What you want would be better suited to an after school special, rather than Pillars. There aren't any implications to bring forth, apart from "Hey, these are people. Lets give some space". Even if we ignore all of that, treading the same oppressed path is broing as hell, and wouldn't you like to read something just a bit more original. No need to have gay characters revolve around their sexuality any more than the breeders, just take a look at the works of Robin Hobb/ Steven Erikson/ R. Scott Baker/ Seth Dickinson/ Django Wexler/ Elizabeth Bear/ Jacqueline Carey. P.S. Anyone else absolutely abhor the term "Diversity Quota"?

Heck, it goes back to 1974 with the first edition of D&D. The scene had always been progressive
