Geforce 6600GT or Geforce 6800GT?
Astatine replied to Craftsman's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Er, the P4 Extreme Edition is like $1000 as well " AMD still lead in most of the gaming benchmarks, despite DDR2 and what have you. But... I'm starting a holy war! Must escaaaaaaape... -
Hope so. I tried to make noise about this...

And higher resolution graphics.

PC SUBJECT TO XBOX "LIMITATIONS"
Astatine replied to vappour's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I think a lot of new cross platform games are being built for the next gen consoles (Xbox2, PS3) as well as the PC, and not for the existing consoles, now (I know this is the case with TES IV: Oblivion). The next gen platforms are a lot less limited and so shrinking games so that they fit on an ageing console will be less of an issue. -
Wouldn't bet on that, Akari was saying they're just bugfixing for the PC release and not adding anything new... There are going to be graphical differences (higher res textures etc) but I'm not aware of any game content differences.

Geforce 6600GT or Geforce 6800GT?
Astatine replied to Craftsman's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Thats incorrect because SLI gives a 100% increase in performance. This is the equivalent of SLI but on one card. Thus, if you connect 2 of these cards, you will get 4x better performance than 1 6600gt. It also said that the card performs better than the 6800 Ultra and the X850 XT PE AT LOWER RESOLUTIONS. Also, considering the fact that this card will be cheaper, I'd rather get it but only after a decent site gives it a good review. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> SLI theoretically gives a 100% performance increase. In practice it almost never reaches that figure. Looking at the various benchmarks SLI seems to usually give 60-70% in GPU limited situations. The Pabster has only published a 3DMark score (which is marginally useful at the best of times). It's a nice high one but I suspect it paints the card in a better light than most games will -- there's no reason to expect it'll perform anything but identically to two single-GPU 6600GT cards, and in most benchmarks the dual 6600GT setup has lost out to single 6800GT/Ultra. So I'd say go for it if you can find it for less than a 6800GT card, but not otherwise. I'd also expect this card to be more likely to have driver issues than a single-GPU card. Can you really SLI two of them? That would be interesting -
Geforce 6600GT or Geforce 6800GT?
Astatine replied to Craftsman's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
It's 60-70% better performance than a single 6600GT card... (and about the same as two 6600GT cards in SLI configuration, since that's basically what that board is squishing onto one card) I'd suggest that a single 6800GT will perform about the same and is likely to have fewer issues. The 6800 is the 12 pipeline version, the 6800GT (and Ultra) have 16 pipelines. I have a 6800GT, they're well worth it, very shiny It looks like the refreshes are rather underwhelming (certainly the X850 XT PE is unnoticeably better than the X800 XT PE); R520 et al aren't expected until 2H 2005, so don't hold your breath -
Influence system, can it be modified for the PC?

I think most of them might be taking a well earned holiday (Random offtopic comment: Came back to hang around these forums again -- got bored -- expecting to have to smack my eyes shut immediately and -- no spoilers at all yet! Wow )

Pah. Want PC version. *mope* *mope* Guess I'll have to stop visiting these boards now to avoid being spoilered out of existence... -
He was wearing robes when you met him just outside the Academy! I'm sure of it. They were yellow. Finding him dead in the ruins was a nice touch that added some extra sinister to the proceedings.

Here in the UK play.com claim the PC version's release date is the 3rd of December! http://play.com/play247.asp?searchtype=PC&...h&Go.x=0&Go.y=0 I think they might be wrong.

I still long for the vast choice of Baldur's Gate. I don't even remember who they all were. I'd also like proper party based combat with six (or more!) party members, vast explorability, ... *sigh* " I suppose I'd better get active in the Obsidian Suggestions board if I want a game like that. It seems to have gone out of fashion along with isometric graphics. 12 is cool I'm especially looking forward to really getting to know T3.

I think you were right with 10. There are only 9 slots. But the slot that Trask starts off with ends up being used by someone else - Candy I think. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> *geekifies* Pretty sure it's Bastila. The slots were used in alphabetical order of NPC name and filled left-to-right then top-to-bottom, and Trask occupied the first slot (top left)

Which Lady Is For You?
Astatine replied to Bastilla_Skywalker's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
So you're saying there can't be any roleplaying from single people? Odd, because most roleplayers I know are single. Including me(by choice). <{POST_SNAPBACK}> No I'm just saying it's sad if u can't r omance anyone in real life and the only play you get is thru roleplaying....thats sad...u should get ur life together first.....then roleplay to escape from every day **** and have fun....but I think its weird when ppl roleplay love interests and stuff but they are too afraid to talk to opposite sex in REAL life....dont forget these are just games folks <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Ooooooh. Aren't we being judgmental today. BTW O poll starting person, you spelled "Atris" wrong. -
How many times have you beaten Kotor?
Astatine replied to The Yeti of 66's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I've never pulled off a 30 hour gaming session! Must have been born old Mind you I did spend all four weeks of my Easter holiday one year playing Baldur's Gate for a good 12 hours a day (having bought it on the first day of the holiday)... now that's a properly long game These days since I have a job that'd be my entire holiday allowance of the year! OTOH, I can think of worse things to do with annual leave... -
Only marginally related but why is Chris Avellone a small blob with eyes? *resists disturbing temptation to include the pink kissy smiley*

Well, Akari has kept us all on a tantalising info drip-feed for months on end... I wonder if it's worth a salesman's commission?

...so (to continue the offtopic) have they cut, let's see, Jar Jar, any sort of corny Anakin/Amidala love scenes, mi-- no I can't say it, ... I have little hope. I shall go expecting to drool at the landscapes and cringe at the dialogue and the plot... -
Is There A Jedi Named Atris In your Party?
Astatine replied to Bastilla_Skywalker's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Was her name ever confirmed or did I miss it? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It wasn't. For all we know "Atris" is a hoax and the devs all double up laughing every time they see a post about her :D (w00t)
