Any 2nd oppinion on that? shouldn't dual wield pistols alone be better for the 2nd weapons stats? For only -3 accuracy you get -50% recovery time and 20% hit to crit versus 15% and 30% (because of the modal). In terms of rate of fire I believe it ends up being a ~100% increase vs a ~60% (you can check the attack speed thread for the formula). You could for for a 160% increase instead of a 60% increase with dualing at the cost of 15 accuracy but I'm not sure that is better. You would end up attacking ~30% faster for -12 accuracy and 20% hit to crit. Crits aren't as great with pistols but its still a penetration difference and a bit of extra damage +on crit effects, even more if you're devoted.

For some reason I love this game. I've beat it twice or once (I only have the pre-endgame save with my second playthrough and can't remember if I actually went all the way through). Right now I am experimenting with all the different party comps you can make with custom characters. I know that eventually they will include challenges like solo achievements and such, but I hope they consider creating a mode that is designed for a no-holds barred optimized party. I really like messing with the synergy of a full party and solo runs seem really boring to me. I liked the tone and setting of the first game more but I still enjoyed the tropical colonization theme. This one definitely is lighter and a bit funnier. I can't stand the narrator and I would love to disable her. (sploiter) I hate that she voices my soul too. On the other hand I enjoyed most of the other voice acting, especially imps and Eothas. Some of the continuity bothered me. (splonkers) I thought that llengrath's succession involved passing down it's soul, so after I #rekt it, why is there another one? Also, it seemed Concelhaut referred to Maura with respect in the first game and it seemed odd that she was part of the Circle but maybe there's more to it. Also ninagauth's involvement in the circle seemed odd. The two of them seem a bit more sinister than some of the other archmages. I guess the circle as a whole bothered me because I don't think it was ever mentioned before in circumstances where it should have been if it existed. Pallegina joining through the VTC as a brother of the 5 suns is a bit of a stretch to me, I really wish they had done a little more work with her recruitment. I didn't like that the only way to meet Arkemyr is to steal from him. That gates a really interesting part of the game with an odd moral choice. There were a few too many parts of the game where there weren't enough reasonable reactions in dialogue and there are quite a few forced or unannounced reputation gains that are annoying as a priest or paladin. It kind of bothered me that Berath intervenes directly when you dock in Neketaka. Of all the obstacles you face in the game, Berath intervenes directly only once, to scare off 5 goons after an extremely short dialogue. It doesn't serve a major purpose either except that people bring it up a few times. Maybe to prove to everyone that you are Berath's Herald? But how would that prove anything when magic is capable of so much in the game? I think a few modals could use some altering. Savage attack is notably bad. Also hatchets should absolutely not give a bonus to deflection. Of all the weapons in the game, hatchets may indeed offer the worst defense. They are very short, offer no hand protection, and their center of mass is disadvantageous for deft motion. Sabres make quite a bit more sense for bonus deflection; they have the best hand protection, decent enough reach, and a thick enough blade with decent leverage to deflect forceful blows. That basically sums up what I don't like about the game. Everything else I really enjoy. I love that they experimented with new combat, I like the new affliction system, and I love the removal of per rest abilities. I know a lot of people hate that last bit, but per rest abilities make individual fights so much harder to balance. I hope that they continue to tweak difficulty and beef up some of the more useless abilities (looking at you priest).

There is an extreme over-abundance of gold if you choose to participate in naval combat. You can beat every ship in the game with iron thunderers. Grab the trollskin sails from dunnage and the military reinforcements from neketaka. Complete the bounties up until the third tier and purchase a Galleon + another thunderer (you should also have gotten Haelfric's Nose but I'm not sure if there is an option that excludes you from it). You don't even need to load up the other side with cannons, just turn to port=>hold=>fire=>full speed=>full speed=>hold=>fire... with 'report to' as needed in place of sailing. It is a bit broken right now because it gets you a bunch of superb equipment at like level 4 or 5. With the Galleon you can go around and kill every named ship in the game. If a ship rushes you to board, switch to chain shot and blow their masts away. Then sail to ~ 500meters and turn around and stomp them. Apparently larger ships can sail faster than smaller ships. It may have to do with the multiple sails and whatnot. Also I totally agree on the Narrator. Her tone doesn't fit the game to me, and her intonation seems off.

I'm not sure if this is intended, but it seems that there are color options that are missing in character creation. I suspect there are a number including skin tone and clothing color, but its a bit hard to notice. One that I am positive of though is the meadow folk default clothing color. There is no corresponding option for it, so the only way to pick the color is to create a meadow folk and never change it.

Eothas was dank and I really liked his voice acting. I like Abydon and Hylea too. The three of them seem to be the most altruistic gods. Magran is a ****. Skaen is a ****. Ondra is the worst. She was the worst in WM2 and she's the worst in Deadfire. I think the gods are all well written though. I don't think there was too much interaction with the gods especially on account of all that you have done to them in the past, as well as being an agent of Berath.

I just hate that the weapon feels so aggravating to use. Its potential damage is probably great but I never use it on account of how annoying I find the micro. I they wish made an ugly sword niche and made the zweihander a regular weapon like they did with poleaxes. Or maybe replace the crummy greatsword modal with an aoe.

100% action increase means twice as fast, right? So in terms of recovery speed it should yield -50% recovery, not -100%. Same with 33% increased action speed. It won't yield -33% recovery, it will instead divide your normal recovery by 1.33. That means 1/1.33=.75 original recovery, which is -25% recovery time.

What do you guys think of a Beraths Blessing that allows more options with your party companions. I know a lot of people would like to change their stats, but even more than that I would love to have all available subclasses/classes for them. Perhaps changing racial passives as well. I love experimenting with party compositions but I miss having the characters along for the ride. Anyone have insight as to whether that is a legitimate proposition? Would it be easy to implement? What would be a fair cost to be able to do it? I know this gets brought up a lot but I would love to have a discussion on how to implement it in a way that the designers might accept. I think there are a decent number of people who would love to see it.
