Some bugs in the new version
Ethics Gradient replied to Irgy's question in Pathfinder Adventures: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
If you're here posting in the forums, you should already consider yourself a voluntary beta tester. We need some kind of flair for anyone who posts in the Tech Support forum. Or maybe a t-shirt that says "I posted 200 bugs and all I got was this stupid Mattock." -
Indeed there is! The Close Quarters power lets Valeros use his Melee skill in place of his Ranged skill when using a weapon with the Ranged trait. Still, that probably shouldn't have set off the Melee trigger on the Forgefiend. "Helper shots" like that are just a straight 1d4+x and shouldn't have Valeros' Melee attribute.

Here are all the new specials that have been reported over the last couple days. I've got a hunch that they were meant to have a scheduled rotation; seeing them appear all at once was some kind of server-side goof. ----- Buried Treasure - 20,000 gold for $4.99 (US) New Adventurer - Valeros, Orange Dice, 5,000 gold for $4.99 (US) Tools of Faith & Devotion - Legion Armor, Greater Aid, Legendary Blue Dice, 25 chests for $9.99 (US)

Absolutely, yes. There are no quantity controls on the common cards that a party may carry. The only "limitation" is that is that once you reach or exceed the number you see in the vault, no more will be found by that party. For example, if you have six parties, each with a Deathbane Light Crossbow, there's nothing in the game to prevent you from trading them all to a single character or party. And once you do that, those other five parties have zero Deathbane Light Crossbows, and thus may find it again during adventures. As for the numbers seen in the scenario vault or the game gallery, they mean different things based on whether or not it is a Treasure card. For RoTR cards: This is the number normally available to the game. If you have this many (or higher), no more will be dealt out in a scenario. For Treasure cards: This is the number of cards you've found/own, and is the absolute maximum a party may possess. Attempting to get around the limit will make excess cards disappear.

As far as common RoTR cards go, the vault only shows the maximum number that may normally be found in a scenario, not how many you actually possess (things are a little different for treasure cards though). There is no upper limit imposed on regular campaign cards, but if there are only supposed to be two, and you have two, no more will be available during a scenario. In theory, you could farm out any number of them through trading between parties, then load out a single Ezren with nothing but Lightning Bolts. Ezren could totally be that "lighting bolt" kid in the LARP video that's been floating around the internet for ages. Otherwise, it does look like you ran into some sort of duplication glitch. Neato.

[BUG]
Ethics Gradient replied to delslow's question in Pathfinder Adventures: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
Have you tried tapping the cards and using them anyway? A recent-ish update in Pathfinder changed things from: "pre-roll to see if you can use weapons or spells" to "only roll to use weapons or spells if you try to use one." Net effect is the same (i.e. you still need to pass the roll), but the game only make characters roll if they attempt to use a prohibited card. -
Blast from the past! Looks like Barl Breakbones can still be defeated in one check using the Amulet of Fortitude. Cornered Barl in the last location. An over-prepared Merisiel got through the first check with an Amulet of Fortitude. Her hand was reset as expected, and then suddenly the scenario was a win. Not complaining too much... that second combat check was looking ugly.

Buried treasure Disappeared
Ethics Gradient replied to Zeromanex's question in Pathfinder Adventures: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
Definitely odd. For what it's worth, I didn't think PlayFab cared about geolocation/regions until you start needing custom servers (regional PVP, multiplayer, whatever...). Everyone should be getting the same special offers off the server regardless of where they are. Whether or not the app is having a brainfart trying to display it, well, that's probably something separate. -
Buried treasure Disappeared
Ethics Gradient replied to Zeromanex's question in Pathfinder Adventures: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
This is what you should be able to see... [From an iPhone; iOS 10, PF 1.1.4, USA]. I'd give it try, but I seriously have more gold/treasure chests than I know what to do with right now. Edit: Forgot to mention I'm in the US, in the event that the reason some people can't see it is a regional thing (which I strongly suspect isn't the case). Probably some other sort of sync issue... -
Welcome! Here's my take on things.. 1) HEROIC AND LEGENDARY DIFFICULTY You've pretty much nailed the basics. In story mode, playing on harder difficulties will get some more gold, and finishing up everything on legendary will unlock a few treasure cards for the party to find later. In quest mode, the effects of choosing higher difficulties is a little more profound, and as a reward, defeating a Legendary scenario, you end up with about twice as much gold and experience. 2) WHERE TO SPEND GOLD? Everyone has their own opinion on this one. I'd say, unless you are looking for a specific character, the Kyra/Merisiel combo can hold their own easily through AD3. You didn't get them for free because they're weak or underpowered. They're a fairly balanced and forgiving 2-person team that can help you learn the basics of play. Focus on ADs until you're comfortable with the game, then branch out to new characters. If the "Buried Treasure" promo is still around, $5 will get you 20,000 gold, which can save you a lot of time grinding out scenarios. The character add-on deck is a good buy. It has both Seelah and Lini, which are community favorites. Aside from the characters, it also includes a few dozen other cards like Deathbane Light Crossbow and Icy Longspear which will probably make your day if you find them. 3) WHICH CHARACTER SHOULD I BUY? Seelah. Yeah, all the characters have their interesting abilities, but if you want someone who can wipe out location decks twice as fast as anyone else, she's the MVP. As I mentioned above, it may be worthwhile to save up for the character deck if you can. 4) WHERE TO "FARM" GOLD AND ITEMS? Usually people just replay early scenarios in legendary. However, that only really pays off if you have leveled-up characters who've made it through the first few Adventure Decks. Quest Mode has a pretty decent gold rewards also. As for farming items, there are some methods to look for specific types of cards, but RNG is a harsh mistress, and you're just as likely to waste your time trying. Focusing on character abilities and feats by beating scenarios and leveling up usually has a better effect on their ability to do stuff than new cards. Work on character progression first, and you'll probably pick up some decent loot along the way. Blast through a few ADs in normal mode, and you'll be pretty well equipped to go back and try higher difficulties later. 5) HOW TO "STORE" ITEMS Currently there's no way of doing that aside from creating another character or two who's sole role in life is to be added to the party, trade some items, and get kicked back out. @DrDior has a better method below. Adding and removing characters to trade items is apparently quite amateur-hour. Gee, it would be reeallllly nice if there was some sort of, I don't know, "backpack" for characters to stash some cards in. We can only dream that some future update may hook us up... EDIT: Sorry for the jittery typing earlier. It may be the weekend, but that doesn't mean Kona coffee and candy corn qualifies as a balanced breakfast.

Blessing of Sarenae not working
Ethics Gradient replied to Rolth's question in Pathfinder Adventures: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
Sounds related to the Blessing of Gorum issue. Long story short; if you're using a specialized blessing to roll 2 extra dice on a check, you'll only get one if it is on a d4 or d6. Fix is incoming. -
Facebook is the easiest to implement OAuth method in the PlayFab API. There are some other options too, but it still has some of the best documentation and support. I'm guessing it mostly comes down to: "Would you like multi-platform now? Or do you want to wait even longer for us to develop some sort of @pathfinderadventures.net login service first?" In theory, you shouldn't need to login to your Facebook account each time you open the app. The OAuth token is just being used to authenticate both the iOS and Android sides so PlayFab knows it can securely link the two together.

Easiest path, if implemented tabletop-style, would be managing banished Basics by campaign party. Stuffing banished Basics in the character save would work, but might add something like an additional 50% overhead per character. An extra few KB here and there doesn't sound like much, but the PlayFab API does place some limits on the amount of data each player can store in the cloud, and the frequency of updates it allows. That being said, I don't think the technical side is the key driver. Multiplayer may be a million versions in the future (probably less, but it seems that way), but I think the culling implementation has some basis on it being potentially really difficult to reconcile which Basics may have been banished when you're playing in an online campaign or a pick-up group. The easiest solution they came up with was just to gradually filter the Basic (and eventually Elite) cards as you progress in AD/Quest Tier. I'm okay with the implementation for two reasons. 1. The more Basic cards exit the vault, the better the chances of seeing high-level campaign or treasure cards. And 2. If there's some Basic card I really want to get back, I can always chose an earlier scenario (unless in Quest mode, but that's all about "onward and upward," not looking back). The original rules also didn't really account for scenario mobility, and the game-as-designed was fairly linear where you'd maybe have a chance to banish 2-3 dozen cards in the entire Adventure Path. In digital, should you be able to banish boons in every scenario played, no matter how many times you'd replay them? Just the first playthrough? I know it feels nice to have some control over which cards get banished, but as you approach AD5 and AD6, the growing size of the card pool makes the difference between an automatic cut of 80-90% Basics and manual curation almost insignificant. The only problem I do have with the culling mechanism is that it also filters out Basic treasure cards. I know, there are only maybe a dozen or so Basic treasures, but it feels like a downer that unlockable content you may have never seen (potentially acquired with real money!) may never come up in the course of play once you're outside the window they will likely appear. Treasure cards have a hard enough time being selected for play in the first place; it seems like an extra little indignity for them to make the vault then get cut before ever having a chance at being dealt into a location deck.
