Suggestion: Restart Button
Ethics Gradient replied to Paabo's question in Pathfinder Adventures: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
Yeah, I suppose that's also true. It just seems like the game should encourage the player to attempt scenarios even if the modifiers aren't completely ideal. Otherwise it's like playing Win95 Solitaire, where you could just mash the Deal key over and over until you start with a few visible Aces. -
If you already have a party at level 40, there's little to suggest that the level 1-39 improvements will be of much interest to you anyway. The drop improvements described seem to scale with player level/tier, so unless they start mixing in a few of the Loot cards, you've probably already "outgrown" whatever the update might give. However it will be really nice after the level cap moves up. Possibly being guaranteed a couple AD4 (or better!) cards would be great. Not being gifted the occasional Mattock would also be pretty great.

The "Restore Purchase" button may be a little confusing. It only restores IAPs like Characters or Adventure Decks if you have a digital receipt for them, but they aren't showing up in your App or Pathfinder "cloud." Other issues are usually a result of not being connected to your account in the "cloud." Does it say you've logged in successfully? If you were to open up the Settings App and scroll down to Game Center (just above Facebook and Twitter), is your Game Center account logged in? A few of the recent iOS updates have knocked people offline when they inadvertently logged users out of Game Center.

Suggestion: Restart Button
Ethics Gradient replied to Paabo's question in Pathfinder Adventures: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
I'm sorta okay with leaving that part as is. The fact that it is annoying and time-consuming to restart is the only thing stopping a player from "modifier shopping." I totally admit that I will click as many buttons as necessary to forfeit scenarios with particularly terrible and non-fun modifier combos, but if it were really easy to back out and restart it would just allow players to keep rolling the RNG until an "easy" scenario came up. -
If I recall correctly, the "50%" figure only came up when the devs were discussing the dice as a coming addition to the game. There was a minor outcry that the number was too high, so it may have been reduced before launch. It's been reliably 25% for a while. My loose collections of data only really stretch back to 1.0.3.8, which is the patch immediately after dice skins were released. I'm not very certain what dice frequency looked like the couple weeks during 1.0.3.7.

The bundle is $5 and it includes: - 10 Treasure chests - "Spooky" Dice - Ghost Goblin Monster Promo Card (Cannot be evaded, automatically defeated, makes bane checks in the remainder of the scenario 2 harder, but boons 3 easier) Currently the dice and card do not appear to be available any way other than this bundle. Also, Aarik posted this image over in the Announcements section of the forum:

Hannibal_PJV is right. The rules for that scenario are crazier-than-average. Here's a pic of the scenario card from the paizo blog that explains to combine "Henchmen" selections together first before randomly dealing them out to each location deck. Edit: Added a link to the paizo blog post the image came from.

Regarding your first question, Thieves Tools and Masterwork Tools only add dice to your Disable Check, which is a skill that Lini does not have. Even if she activates Beast Mode and gets to roll a d10 for Dexterity, when you roll a check that your character doesn't have, you use a d4. And for your second question, in Here Comes the Flood the counter for the Villain doesn't show how many allies he's captured, but how many cards he's taken. Only at the end of the scenario do you compare the number of allies captured. You aren't supposed to find out until the end.

Known issue. Long story short, the items are working correctly to add +1 to your check..., but are inadvertently downgrading the check type and you are losing other combat bonuses. In your Amiri example, her Combat:Melee bonus is +6 [+4 Strength and +2 Melee]. When you play the Belt of Giant Strength, it correctly adds the +1, but changes it to Combat:Strength check and you lose the +2 Melee bonus. After you play the Belt, the total bonus is +5 [+4 Strength and +1 Belt]. The good news is that you can just tap the center-top of the screen and change it back to a Melee check and get your full +7 bonus [strength + Melee + Belt]. A couple items are bugged like this. You just need to occasionally verify which check type the game automagically chose for you.

Custom Dice not staying
Ethics Gradient replied to Cendragon's question in Pathfinder Adventures: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
Just changing dice is not enough to trigger a character revision and sync it off to "the cloud." However, if you bring a character to the Quest or Story "overworld" it should save their settings and push it to the server. -
iOS Update Loop
Ethics Gradient replied to Goggolor's question in Pathfinder Adventures: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
Ah, you're right! As of today, you're forced to upgrade to build 669 (1.1.4.3) if you want to be online. It is possible your iOS device is flaking out and can't find the new version, or it didn't process the update correctly. One way to kickstart the App Store is to open it up and tap on any of the icons on the bottom (Featured, Categories, etc...) ten times. Once you do the 10x tap trick, it will often get the App Store app to refresh and try a little harder to look for and process updates. Otherwise maybe try rebooting the device. -
Aww! It was a fun while it lasted, but if you tried exploiting it, it had the side effect of de-shuffling the player's deck and putting it in order by item type. Once you grab a card from the deck, you are cursed to draw only Allies, Armors, Blessings, etc... for the rest of the scenario. It wasn't just an exploit, it was dark magic.

Get Loot Back?
Ethics Gradient replied to Wraith428's topic in Pathfinder Adventures: General Discussion (No Spoilers!)
Loot item? Sorry, you're out of luck. Loot items are handed out by party though, so if you get to work on a second squad, you are able to swap characters around and trade items between parties. May I ask which Loot it was? Some of them are more "missable" that others. -
Game frozen!
Ethics Gradient replied to runslikeawelshman's question in Pathfinder Adventures: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
Patch seems to be up on iOS. I imagine google play should have it now too. -
Game's getting hevier...
Ethics Gradient replied to MauGibrin's question in Pathfinder Adventures: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
Not yet. No. Multi-platform is "coming soon," but there's currently no way to log into your Pathfinder "cloud" from both iOS and Android right now. Multiple devices works reasonably well... as long as you stay iOS or Android. There's currently no way to switch between the two, as your PFID is tied to either your iOS Game Center login or your Google Play store account. -
Endless Sinspawn
Ethics Gradient replied to Tiltowait's question in Pathfinder Adventures: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
No forced update yet. Last I checked, it was fine if you were playing on build 662 or 664. Anything less and you'll get a message to download a newer version. Edit: Forgot to mention that "Endless Sinspawn" would be a pretty awesome name for a band. It's easily the most "Metal"-sounding topic I've seen in the support forums so far. -
The issue has been corrected and should appear in a patch soon. Additionally, one of the devs mentioned that the fix will get players out of the current game "lock." No need to do anything drastic yet like deleting saves or the app. Best advice for now is simply to hold on and wait for the patch to make its way through the approval channels.

Patch 1.1.4.2?
Ethics Gradient replied to Pediatron's topic in Pathfinder Adventures: General Discussion (No Spoilers!)
Yeah, a silent update. The "I think we fixed Justice Ironbirar" release. -
These days, I'll solo any character that doesn't have any Powers or Cards that provide useful support to other characters at their location. More often than not, everyone is on their own to help close locations if the villain turns up. Larger parties should have more than enough "panic blessings" to throw at a check in the event a solo character comes across a hopeless situation. When I played this card game tabletop, it did play fairly conservatively. Playing a scenario had a long set-up, and it is a certifiable pain-in-the-butt to shuffle and assemble two dozen tiny decks. But without the threat of shuffling, it is fun to play the Pathfinder app fairly aggressively. I you still have a dozen cards in your character's deck at the end of the scenario, you probably could have taken a lot more risks in the game.

I'd put it in the neighborhood of ~2%. But when you smooth that out a little, the chances of finding a specific Legendary in a single Treasure chest is generally no better than 0.25%. Between that and the legendary dice drops, it was pretty trivial to model the long end of the tail (legendary rarity only) as in the initial Guess-O-Tron v1.0. There's some variation in the middle rarities, but at the top and bottom, it is surprisingly close to the Hearthstone models.
