Can't do anything in quest

Whenever the game gets itself into an "inconsistent state" - either with, or without, a "progression break" - if the UI is still responding I perform a VRT ("vault round trip": simply hit the settings button in bottom left of the screen, choose Vault, and when it loads hit the back button to return to the game). It doesn't fix everything, but it's surprising how often it does fix things. -

Trigger: Merisiel needs to close Prison I know that there's a known issue with GL failing to offer to Bury if you miss your check by 1 (while working if you miss by 2), but I had a situation where the GL triggered in the off-turn character's hand. So Seelah was able to play the GL on Merisiel's turn! The text says "discard this card to add 2 to your check", which means it only works on the current character's turn. I finally got Sajan to Level 33 and what do you know? He Encounters the Enchanter and fails to dodge the second (Force) damage from the Enchanter. you can see screenies here: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/5eiwd4yxhzfrmk0/AAD_fjQcrMKJweymBrL6pn6Fa?dl=0 The first screenie shows the "Discard 1" prompt, the second shows Sajan playing Leather Armour of Fire Resistance (not the option to Recharge, which must mean that it is Combat Damage!), the third shows the Armour successfully Recharging.

Further to this. *Every* Location that Lini and Valeros visited together triggered a "Close Location" prompt after a Check to acquire a Boon (not just weapons, but I'm not sure of all the types of Boon). Lowest scoring successful Legendary scenario ever (pretty annoying as I was trying to level the four characters with this scenario).

Valeros used the Throne Room start of turn power to recharge Crowbar and draw Smith(?). At which point the Explore phase was inactive and only Pass Card, Move or Reset options were available. After this, things went weird with Lini's turn as acquiring a Ranseur triggered closure of the location. OK, it's a little more complex than I thought! On his turn Valeros had triggered the "bury and item to draw a card" Start of Turn power. Once he did that, he could do nothing else (see his screenie, where you can see the power has been used, but the Explore phase is unavailable. (I could pass a card to Lini and I could Move, or end my turn, but I couldn't do anything else and nothing fixed it (short of Forfeit). I decided to just skip Valeros's turn because I'm sick to the back teeth of having to Foreit at Legendary. Once Lini had successfully closed the location, I was stuck. The screen had the look of a closed location (the box on the left only had the Start of Turn power and the background was dimmed), but the Location Deck did not empty and Lini can only Reset her hand and end her turn except there's no Blue Arrow, just the phases at the top of the screen. Hitting the reset phase button allowed her turn to end "normally". Also in the screenie share. (The two Lini "end turn" shots are after I reloaded the App after my lock screen triggered, it looks like the turn ended normally first time around, but on reload it got broken!)

Immediately after the Ranseur went to her hand a prompt for closing the location was presented. Barl Breakbones Bug (3x to Defeat?)

+1 My situation was with Ezren and Sajan at the Throne Room (where Encountering Blessings does 2 unblockable damage). My scenario power was Giants +2D4, but my Wildcards were Retaliation and Painful Memories. I was able to succeed in all three rolls: 1) Ezren discarded Quarterstaff +2, played Toxic Cloud (the random discard was Toxic Cloud, though the effect stayed for the next Checks!) 2) Sajan Deathbane Light Crossbow +1, Blessings 3) Sajan DLC+1, Ezren cast Heat Metal, Blessings from other Characters (I think) -
I have found a workaround to this issue: when it triggers, you need to get to a point where the Scenario reloads at the step where it shows you all the Wildcard and Scenario Powers. ​At that point hit "skip preview", do not hit "continue"​ (given that you know all this information and/or can retrieve it to remind yourself after the Scenario loads, it's not too big a problem) Of course your OS may, or may, not facilitate your killing the App to get back to the Scenario screen.

I have now experienced this bug myself! I had an FotG, played it (the top Blessing was a Saranae and it was a Combat Check, so there was no confusion about what "Discard" meant), a single die was added to my check, but then the highlighting for all my other Blessings was switched off and I couldn't play any further Blessings from that character - though other characters could still contribute Blessings. Pretty sure that I've seen this (not necessarily at that scenario, but the "confirm action" dialogue with a progression break sounds familiar). Have you tried a VRT (Vault Round-Trip), or killing the App (if you can on iOS), or just exiting to the main menu and quitting the game? If none of these work, you may have to Forfeit

Any time you get odd-looking setup for a check, it's worth expanding the "current effects" panel over on the left. This often explains setup that I think are wrong. The other thing that happens quite regularly to me is that the Bane has - for example - a Divine check and I'm playing a character whose best dice is a Wisdom dice, despite the fact that they also have a Weapon of a non-Divine spell. When this happens it is sometimes very hard to persuade the game to let me roll any other type of dice. (it also happens when I'm only using a Blessing - it adds 2D4 of Disable, when I want 1D10 of Wisdom) Fiddling with the Skill selector at the top of the screen "eventually* fixes it - most times. Try posting screen shots or full descriptions of the cards played, somebody here will help you figure it out. (BTW, I'm not disagreeing with you when you say that there are some serious glitches!) -

I've always felt that the "fast forward" default turn-end button was wrong. The default should be "Reset your Hand". Sure, if they want to provide a "fast forward" *next to it* that's fine, but automatically stepping over a standard phase in the game is a bad design IMO. -

Well, that depends on whether they have (1) built all the structure necessary for all future AP and therefore won't need to make any changes in the structure - I'm not convinced that will prove to be the case; and (2) they have built a sufficiently robust and error-free system so that introducing new wildcards, scenario powers and other AP-related elements won't destabilise the game experience and wind things back to the situation that we had at 1.0.3.x - again I have no confidence in this. And without hard evidence, which is only available to OBS, I disregard such comments as posturing and hyperbole. One must also keep in mind that those of us who inhabit this forum are not representative of the general player population (if we were, there would be a lot more members posting) -

This is all just supposition and hyperbole, right? You have no evidence other than unverifiable, anecdotal "evidence", I assume. I'm not sure that I follow what you are trying to say here, sorry. Sure, they "have it all built" but the engine is obviously full of bugs. There's no point adding new content - even if it doesn't introduce any new templates - because the existing engine doesn't work reliably with the current content. New content would most likely make the bug count explode! If you can't reliably predict the outcome of an event in the game with current established content, you can't guess what will happen with new stuff even if it is "just based on templates". The existing engine has to be much closer to bug-free than it is now before they can introduce new content while managing risk. Big deal, you're looking for a new toy to play with while this one gets fixed, I'm betting (and I'm sure OBS are betting) that you'll be back. -

I've yet to encounter a situation where the z-order problems introduced with patch 1.1.3 actually affected gameplay. Even if a button is completely hidden by overlaid objects, the button still functions in every circumstance that I've encountered. There are other, much more serious bugs. Don't get me wrong, this shouldn't happen and it shows either a lack of testing, or a release process that prioritises releasing to a schedule over quality of code (i.e. they knew about the bugs, but released it anyway). What we need is a moratorium on new features and UI "improvements" and a focus on ironing out the bugs that affect gameplay. Currently, there's no way that AP4 will be a success if they release it in a timescale of "weeks away" per the Dev Blog, because they simply won't have fixed the bugs in the current App. -
Changes Coming to Chests

So what, exactly is gold acquired through gameplay for now? There's a chance that this will backfire on OBS: if we're all refusing to buy chests with gold (because OBS have got their monetization calculations wrong and want to drive gamers to spend IRL currency instead of in game currency), we'll all accumulate gold that we'll spend on content (APs, Character Pack, whatever). Clearly this is all about money, which can't be being helped by the continued failure to release AP4. It's a bit of a smack in the teeth for those of use who have supported the game from the beginning, helping OBS get the game up to production quality (not that it's anywhere near production quality yet), now we have to pay for a feature that was the only benefit of continuing to play while we wait for AP4! The only way that I might be persuaded to use my gold to buy chests would be if there was a feature that allowed me to buy multiple chests in one "transaction". I am not going to perform 10 transactions to buy 10 chests, one at a time.
