PoE-saga MMORPG? Please?
Hassat Hunter replied to senturion's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
That's pretty much how game design finances work. You get money to make game, you make game... afterwards you get your profits based on sales (and sometimes bonusses like the infamous 85% metacritic New Vegas). EDIT: Oh, in some cases some own money is put in then the proto is given to publishers for more financial support. If that doesn't work out, obviously you get a loss. If the game bombs... in the best case you play equal... (provided you didn't go overbudget. Or the overbudget was financed by the publisher instead of your own finances) but of course, you wasted a whole bunch of time, need to have some in reserve to keep yourself up to the next game, and hope it doesn't affect your reputation making it less likely to get in a next deal. It's not being nice or not... it's the way the industry works... But I guess not knowing that explains your points and views in this thread....- 139 replies

TSLRP is quite dead though (and unfinished)... 0_o You would be correct...

Hmmm, Russian rocket shot down Ukrain heli... sounds familiar. Although last time they made that claim they later admitted it was small arms fire instead... let's see if that happens here too and how long it takes. Also I do have to LOL at "finally elections" when Ukraine was having elections for a long long time...

European Parliamentary Elections results, major concern?
Hassat Hunter replied to BruceVC's topic in Way Off-Topic
That's an odd conclusion, since it's basically the opposite in my books. The weaker countries get a lot of money in subsidies or money to save them from bankrupcy. On the other hand they barely add money to the EU since they're "poor"... by which it means the citizens aren't poor, but the government is due to low taxes, high tax-evasion and rampant corruption. The strong Euro doesn't really help much for all countries in the EU for export, but as if you say export is mainly tourism, that wont be quite as affected. And it's not exactly the EU's own fault, since the strong Euro is more due to the Dollar's decline (because the economy in the US is taking a beating thanks to Iraq and Afghanistan and the exploding bubble of banks) than good EU finances. -
So I guess that means Fez is gone, even if not crossed out on the last page?

You guys obviously go different places than me... Also, no, it doesn't mean that. With another game, yes... develop, money, end. However, we're talking about a MMO here... a F2P MMO even. Which means that thinking doesn't apply. It's instead "develop, develop some more, money, develop more, develop more... develop more" In that way it's even worse than making a hand-held game or educational game, since it's money also comes still with an expense... AND A RESOURCE-COST. Of people who could be on other games. As such, yes, I do find reason to complain or be worried for MMO's from Obsidian compared to ANYTHING else to make money. If you don't see why, maybe you're the short-sighted one?- 139 replies

Because we haven't waged wars in Bosnia, Ukrain, Iraq, Afghanistan and probably more I forget... So peaceful, that EU. -
The newly elected leader immediately ordered a massive bloodbath though... Considering the army chief is one of the people one can vote for in Egypt... you seriously believe it's more savekeeping against attacks than in Ukraine? And here in the Netherlands 2 out of 4 "packages" you can pick on school has information about the way the state is formed and ruled. It's not one of the most popular subjects though...

Pretty much every RPG-fan I know/RPG-forums that talks about Obsidian/It's announcement thread here/probably more places @ Teknoman; How did that work out for the KOTOR-games?- 139 replies

I see Dutch in those Portal 2 screenshots... guess not only Steam is affected, but their Source games as well (cause IIRC you're not Dutch) xD

I simply made a 'hide me' category, moved all games I don't want to see on my list there, and keep the list closed at all times... problem solved

What's so bad?

I do have to laugh at how the current elections seem to ruin all the points made against the East-Ukrain vote... "Transparent boxes" Yup, in the 'official elections' too. "You need 50% turnup for real democratic elections!" How's that EU turnup coming out for you? "There are soldiers. You can't vote normal" Hey, look at Egypt! And who complains there... no-one of our press anyway. No hipocrasy here... no sireeeee...

Just check the add-ons section on Moddb (or downloads on deadlystream) for whatever floats your boat Over there pretty much everything works with TSLRCM.

European Parliamentary Elections results, major concern?
Hassat Hunter replied to BruceVC's topic in Way Off-Topic
Well, with Germany getting the largest part of the parlement, and them being pretty much the only heavy pro-EU country in the EU... nice corrupt house of cards. In the Netherlands, known for being social and multi-cultural, more and more xenophobia appears, led mostly by reports of crime being commited by people from Marocco, or people from Bulgaria coming her, claim money, and just run with it... or Bulgarian organised criminels stealing her and then just returning home, avoiding justice. What good is the EU if it's members can just do that? Despite that, most people still voted pro-EU, since most people simply voted as an extension for local politics (we hate party X and Y of the current government so we pick opposition party Z, and don't care about the politics of Europe doing that at all). You can see the same in all other countries. That really tells that this is pretty much a farce, an overview how local politics do in the eyes of the citizens instead of a true vote for Europa/EU. I personally would also want the EU to dissolve (but not enough to vote PVV, I voted another anti-Euro party). It's incoming treaty with the US is very very worrisome. I would wish we would be less their lapdog dammit. The EU has no control of it's money, it's ability to simply give Ukrain billions from god-knows-where already shows there's no control on it at all what happens with our money. More and more money needs to be pumped in the weak countries added in, and it doesn't look that will end even if the crisis will. It doesn't seem particularly viable or life-stable. And yet we drag the dead horse on and on, because it dying would be so costly. The question is; didn't we already pay more to keep it artificially alive than dying would ever do? That's the question... -

Was a lot of fun at Larian... and got some post-beta content to try. Was glad to see it was still dialogue-heavy and combat-lite as the beta, even with the smaller 'city' area. Definitely a RPG to my heart. Since it was the latest build it also had a widly different amount of bugs from the beta. Stuff fixed, things that worked bugged again, new bugs... they work hard on fixing stuff, but I doubt it will hit release anywhere near bug-free. Then again, what RPG player expects that these days, except for hollow RPG's without any real roleplaying... EDIT: The person next to me (and to lesser extend, me) also suggested some stuff to improve co-op. They said they would do something to make it a bit better before release, but we'll see what that is and if they can make it happen...) I'm looking forward to it anyway... but for now am jealous of Keyrock for his sweet card and game -

PE Spell FX Suggestion
Hassat Hunter replied to Sensuki's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
No? It would change nothing besides putting the circle information pre-buff instead of at buff. How is that making it impossible to aim? Instead of removing graphical fidelity from the screen while keeping maximum efficiency? -

I dunno, I prefer it more in singleplayer. But I am an anti-social hermit misanthrophist who plays single-player RPG's for fun, so... -
PE Spell FX Suggestion
Hassat Hunter replied to Sensuki's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
But it was a buff, which is always centered on the character.. It could easily be a circle around the caster when you hold the mouse over the spell (so you know who's in it's AoE). I see no reason to have the circle in the actual spell effect though, that's just useless clutter IMO. So to clarify; * Go to spells * Hover over buff. Circle shows area of effect. * Click buff. Since self-cast automatically goes into casting, no aiming. * No circle, just the effect on characters which dissapates rather fast (which perhaps a few exceptions which should stay visible). -
