Someone should quickly call Larian and tell them they did it all wrong: As much as I don't care for floaty stuff, I like this more than the PoE screenshots. Simply having the characters in an eyeview rather than at the bottom is a major boon all by itself. Get rid of the map (don't need it onscreen in a IE-game), the top icons (no turnbased), just move the characters more to the side... and have a sleek bottom bar... Yeah, I think that would do fine, more so than a humongeous bottom bar where I have to make my eyes go down all the time to check my people's status rather than just in a human's periphial vision.

Shouldn't be too bad balance-wide to allow 3 "utility" talents then, lvl 4,8 and 12 (or 3,7,11 if they clash with already talent giving levels). Unless you're all flaming liars of course

Well, I have yet to try the PoE system, so I cannot recall on that. Do wounded people getting up get penalties? I liked that aspect of the Drakensang games... of course they cheapened it by making the injuries go away by simply using bandages, of which I usually hauled 1000+ around since they were everywhere. What I can say is that "character dead" meant in 90% of the cases reload for me in the IE-games (with 100% for 'chuncky character death').

I've already said this dozens of times, but hey, why not another time: * I still want an L shape. Horizontal space is the most, so a vertical bar makes sense... then you can have a really slick thin bottom bar, maximum screen while keeping a nice solid looking UI. I still have no idea why this isn't done. * Don't stick the combat log in a solid UI. I still get nightmares of the IWD2 bottom bar which was garguantan, just because of the combat log being in it. Worst IE UI ever. Yet I see they want to follow in the same footsteps here. Don't do it!

I'll play it day 1, then 5 years later make a mod for it after Sensuki teased us for years, but decides not to release it since he got a girlfriend... Played Divinity: Original Sin before release too (and was I think the first outside of Larian to play the second post-beta area, which was pretty cool )... and the reason why I don't play Wastelands 2 now isn't the state but since I have no faith in InXile, and WL2 hasn't dropped to a sufficient low price-level yet to take the plunge. Maybe the summer sale... Of course I also played The Witcher II before any patches, never lost the mood to replay rather fast and thus never did the free DLC. I did notice they nerfed the tutorials difficulty into Oblivion though. But that has more to do with that game's gameplay rather than patching or bugs...

Crickets of Eternity
Hassat Hunter replied to ryukenden's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
*Suggestion: Add loud-cricket as killable animals in the game. Then don't give them any XP (not even bestiary) when dying. I'm sure the kill-XP crowd's heads will blow... an actual benefit to killing them... but no XP. Maybe I should rather let them make me mad then, can't not kill them without XP now!... *boom* -
Every time I hear "PoE will suck, the sky is falling" I look at the poster and find it's one of those people who's opinion I pretty much can discard already anyway. I won't be sad I can't "have gromnir cast spell, retreat, rest, go up, let them cast spells, retreat, rest until they are out of protections" is no longer a thing... *shrug* It was super-cheap in BG, and you KNOW it. Of course I will disagree with some decisions (infinite stash *ugh*) but there's no point fixating on that one thing while there's a whole game to enjoy. I can easily list a dozen+ items of what D:OS "bad design issues" are, and in the end it's a real fun game to play. Deus Ex? Vampire Bloodlines? All have design issues. But if you don't play them cause of those you really lacking out. So excuse me if I don't go hide in terror because the sky is falling since PoE doesn't allow you to drop items (in the current build), Chicken Little...

*cough* Morrowind... although it got rather easy in the end, but that's pretty much true for all TES. And do I *really* need to make another "Conversations should give XP, no-one is going to read your stupid conversations unless XP! OE are idiots for not including conversation XP!" mocking thread... Seeing the way this discussion goes to, I might.

Loved Rogue Squadron, glad I can buy it again somewhere... and nice to see TSL too of course.

Another incident with black men getting shot by police
Hassat Hunter replied to Drowsy Emperor's topic in Way Off-Topic
Never heard of the guy, but I assume all Molyneuxes are notorious liars then? We Europeans already long know what the issue is. But apparently the Americans are still wondering why there's this issue in their country... and refuse to listen too. :/ -

Hassat Hunter replied to MasterPrudent's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I think the others have said it pretty well already by now, no point for me to repeat it. And no... What I do find ugly though is those green balls above everyone's head in combat... what's the reason about that anyway? What does it do. WHY IS IT THERE? What would be lost if we just cut it out? -
That's the system "Silver" uses (it's an action RPG). You just level up after each boss fight, and that's it. While it's mostly linear, some bosses you can do in different orders, and it doesn't matter at all since every boss is simply level+1. I really like that game. You can get it on GOG. And as said it's an Action game, so don't even try not killing enemies. People with "boohoo, no XP" probably get an aneurysm though, having to fight so long without getting any rewards for it till they meet the boss. Yes, I pretty much play combat-centric and STILL prefer them to use Objective-XP to give everyone the game they want instead of selfishly wanting the cake all to myself and everyone else should just deal with that. It's actually possible...! How about that?

Oh, **** people... are we AGAIN back at the stand that people are going all "waaaah, there is no quests exploring. Quest XP"... OBJECTIVE XP... Looking at footage of the BB I see finding the cave of the Ogre gives XP. That's not turning in a quest... and even if it was Quest-XP, it could be done gradually, as you complete OBJECTIVES. Yes, exploring can (and is) one of said objectives. And objective XP system does NOT mean we need to attach a quest to each and every map just to keep the XP system working... Why the heck do we keep falling back on it, it's not that hard to understand, is it? Oh, and with Bestiary XP OE also added unlock/disarm mine XP... probably the most senseless, worst possible thing to add EVER. It's absolutely freakin' rubbish. OE knowns it, the fans know it (being the absolute lowest voted option in "what kind of XP do you want" and is an affront to role-playing. They seriously need to take that **** out... It's a freak reaction. I seriously have no idea WHY they added it, but hopefully now they're more levelheaded they see it's a trainwreck and remove it again. And I still don't see what Sarex is heading for with "boohoo I get the same XP as people who resolve the quest with the poison they bought, or the skills they have... when I fought. I apparently lack the capacity to FIGHT as it no longer gives shiny XP, and this forces me to take other resolutions, even if those offer the same XP and are thus not more advantageous than fighting. While I love fighting, I can't since... why exaclty?" Do tell me... No one is advantageous, or disadvantegeous, so DO tell me why selecting the combat sollution, a legit sollution is someone totally nerfed to the ground being actually a proper sollution too. Since it's not automatically the best? OH FOR SHAME... AND THAT IN A ROLE-PLAYING GAME WHERE YOU CAN PLAY A ROLE. THEY SHOULD MAKE THAT ILLEGAL! [Time to cooldown]

*wonders if he should block val, loooong posts of vitrol get annoying... hmmmm* And communist terrorists? You learn something new every day... care to teach me what this would even LOOK like rather than just throwing it out there without link? Cause I seriously have no clue... -
Loot UI looks fine from the backer vids I see... only problem being needless extra-clicking to add to the stash, and indeed having to manually click all bodies on the floor. I think having it select all loot of nearby corpses is a good idea (or I wouldn't have mentioned it a few times myself), but I don't see the need to have to manually browse through all bodies, or even seeing all slain enemies, just all the loot in one overview would be much better...

Riots in Niger over cartoons; 4 dead, 45 injured. Fires in French cultural center, 3 churches set ablaze, christian stores demolised. Apparently they didn't get the "Not all muslim are like the Charlie-attackers" memo... such a peaceful religion... -

Bob Page: Your appointment to FEMA should be finalized within the week. I've already discussed the matter with the Senator. Walton Simons: I take it he was agreeable? Bob Page: He didn't really have a choice. Walton Simons: Has he been infected? Bob Page: Oh yes, most certainly. When I mentioned we could put him on the priority list for the Ambrosia vaccine, he was so willing it was almost pathetic. Walton Simons: This plague -- the rioting is intensifying to the point where we may not be able to contain it. Bob Page: Why contain it? Let it spill over into the schools and churches, let the bodies pile up in the streets. In the end, they'll beg us to save them. Walton Simons: I've received reports of armed attacks on newspapers. There's not enough vaccine to go around, and the islamtatics are starting to get desperate. Bob Page: Of course they're desperate. They can smell their deaths, and the sound they'll make rattling their cages will serve as a warning to the rest. Walton Simons: Hmm. I hope you're not underestimating the problem. The others may not go as quietly as you think -- intelligence indicates they're behind the problems in Paris. Bob Page: A bunch of pretentious old men playing at running the world. But the world left them behind long ago. We are the future. Walton Simons: We have other problems. Bob Page: EU-NATCO? Walton Simons: Formed by executive order after the terrorist strike on the Charlie. I have someone in place though. I'm more concerned about Savage -- he's relocated to Vandenberg. Bob Page: Our biochem corpus is far in advance of theirs, as is our electronic sentience, and their... ethical inflexibility has allowed us to make progress in areas they refuse to consider. Walton Simons: The augmentation project? Bob Page: Among other things -- but I must admit that I've been somewhat disappointed with the performance of the primary unit. Walton Simons: The secondary unit should be online soon. He's currently undergoing preparations and should be operational within six months. My people will continue to report on his progress. If necessary, the primary will be terminated. Bob Page: We've had to endure much, you and I, but soon there will be order again, a new age. Aquinas spoke of the mythical City on the Hill. Soon that city will be a reality, and we will be crowned its kings. Or better than kings. Allah. [What this discussion makes me think] -

Yeah, I know the EU people are not nations governments... they just pile another stage of incompentance ontop of nation leadership... I still totally LOVE they just give billions to Ukraine but apparently lack money for most anything else, oh... and we need to pay them more so they can squander it away. Gotta love that EU...
