Grrrr, not Agent Pierce. I like him. I felt the last episode was a weee bit too action/dramatic with

I guess the one place where it is really useful is when haggling. You get better deals if their disposition to you is high. I always persuade the merchants.

I just reinstalled Freelancer. It's funny as the game gives me a warning because it does not recognize my video card. Radeon 9800 Pro is total overkill. The game still looks pretty nice. Very colourful! Getting reacquainted with the game. I remember when I had the quad level 10 uber fast firing guns....the level 1s just don't cut it
-
It is used. But I get the impression I could successfully perform those persuasions with a speechcraft of 5. I guess it just makes it less tedious.
-
I agree. The only real advantage of the Speechcraft is for further conversations...which aren't really difficult. It'd make more sense if the guy cut things off if you hit a low rating, but I was at 0 for quite some time when I was still learning it. About the only good thing I can see with it is that I took it as a class skill, so (for better or worse because of the scaling) I can level up with it.
-
I agree with Gromnir. The scaling has left me mixed feelings. If you skip on too many combat skills and level up like crazy, you're going to be in a world of hurt, which is too bad. On the plus side, the difficulty slider makes a signficant difference. Even just a shift makes guys significantly more manageable. Which is good, as it means you can avoid getting permanently stuck. It's bad though, as it really shouldn't be a necessity in the event of a non-combat build. At the same time, I think "balance" can be a little overrated. I actually don't mind the odd area where my higher level guy has little problems, as it helps give the image that my character has become rather strong. Too much of it though, of course, is a bad thing. I was a little surprised though that my lower level character had little problem wiping out a cave of vampires. I suspect a good chunk of the score is for how ambitious of a design it is. The two biggest flaws with the game are the balance system, as well as the main story (though I have only just touched on that). I am genuinely having a ton of fun with this game though. I'm currently playing with the Thieves Guild for the most part, as well as just getting started on the Mages Guild. Some of the Thieves Guild quests have been a ton of fun. It is kind of funny as my current quest had a requirement that I fence like 600 gold worth of goods...and I think I'm at like 2100. The "Independent Thievery" quests require zero effort from me now. As soon as I get it, I've completed it :D It did probably get a few points for hype acknowledgement as well. The freedom of the game is a real joy IMO.

No idea. Suppose it's handy if your in a dark area but my kitty has "blue" vision (night vision in blue) so it's of no particular use generally. Although my game seems to be a lot less dark than the screenshots people have posted here. Could be because I'm playing it on a TV. And the aforementioned invisible things. Although most will cast and then immediately attack anyway. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I think, as people have stated, it has more to do with the way the screenshots are taken and how the gamma is not taken into account. My screen isn't that dark either, and I'm on a standard CRT monitor.

It's just the name of their AI. They could have called it Goomba AI or OMG_I_R0X0R AI.
-
You guys were correct, I do not need a CD Key. If you're up for playing, let me know. I'll be leaving on Thursday for two weeks though, so don't wait up

<{POST_SNAPBACK}> I figured you'd be more upset at him having sex with your wife.

I thought that both of those were garbage. The ones I enjoyed the most were the Tomb Raider ones, probably because they could have just as easily been done if the games never existed. Sadly enough, there was a long stretch when Mortal Kombat was the best videogame to movie transition. All in all, movies to video games seem to have much better (though definately not guaranteed) success than video games to movies. None of the video games to movies have been particularly "good." As for Silent Hill, it looks like a classic case of a horror movie trailer showing way too much.

Hmmmm....urge to play Freelancer...rising.

Those are totally FedEx quests. I mean, you have to go places, and do stuff. Sometimes you have to go over places that you have been before. Complain about the quests being too easy. But they clearly are not FedEx quests. Unless FedEx quests have been expanded to (small spoilers for one quest): Learn about concerns of merchants Talk to merchant in question Follow questionable merchant after hours Learn of secret rendezvous with strange person Follow this strange person Discover the residence of this strange person Wait for person to leave house unattended Break into strange person's house, looking for evidence Upon finding evidence, confront questionable merchant Obtain clues for the strange person's current whereabouts Find strange person, and defend yourself against an ambush Upon defeating the strange person, obtain some final evidence to further clear questionable merchant Return to leader of concerned merchants, and talk with questionable merchant I wish games had more FedEx quests like this. I don't understand the "skill" comment either. FedEx quests aren't always cakewalks either. The quest for the Carsomyr (which is total FedEx... "Go to Place X" "Obtain Item Y" "Return to me") from Firkraag is a difficult quest. I think you're being overly critical of the game, for the sake of just bashing it (perhaps some bitterness since ShadowStrider is involved, since you two are always disagreeing about something).

The Oilers were in the same boat. They finally won a SO win as well. I have mixed feelings, as I like both Joe Thornton and Jaromir Jagr.
-
That fight was hard! I let Porkchop do most of the heavy lifting.

Hmmm. Anyone have any problems joining the Mage's Guild? It turns out that one of the markers for the Joining Mage Guild quest didn't go away when I completed the task for the recommendation (in Chorral). Now it seems I can no longer ask the marked NPC about recommendation. Unfortunately, I noticed this looooong after I did that quest.

Since somebody clearly doesn't know what a FedEx quest is: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quest_(gaming)#Fedex_quest
-
You run around to all sorts of different places though, which is totally FedEx.
-
Hmmm, how do you raise your Mercantile? I figured it was selling and buying goods at aggressive haggle prices, but my Mercantile seems to have stopped at 47. I had improved it at one point...but now nothing. I've probably sold about 10k worth of goods as well
-
If all you've been able to find are FedEx quests, then you suck worse at this game than I do. The very first quest I got in the Imperial City was not a FedEx quest.
-
You got a mod that prevents you from doing something that you could have easily just never done yourself? Get that sneak skill up, and you'll have no problems pickpocketing people.
-
Well, I didn't try installing it... Though I have vague memories of trying to reinstall it, and having it ask for a CD key which I could not precure. It is possible that I am confusing it with a different game.
-
Hmmm. Maybe I should hold onto a Daedric dagger for emergencies. I have an enchanted weapon at the moment (as well as a glass sword), so it's not a deal breaker. But it is nice to know. In other news, I found another Fence. It was opened up when I became a "cat burglar"
-
Hmmm...if I could dig this game up again.... " EDIT: I found the CD...but no CD Key. Must be on the manual.
-
Daedric swords can hit non-corporeal creatures?
