Pictures of your Games Episode VII The Screenshot Awakens
Fenixp replied to Blarghagh's topic in Computer and Console
I might be very slightly double-posting, but... I might have interrupted some hot rabbit on rabbit action. Using a sword as a means to interrupt them. One of the rabbits got slightly peeved by this development, started playing death metal out of its ears and kicked my arse. I have survived the encounter. Barely. Oh well, I guess I'll also attach a generic pretty pic: And to counter-balance the pretty some old-school graphixx: That is all. -

Harr harr. Harr harr harr. -
I'm quite glad you're enjoying it. Yeah, the story sucks, but ... it's a zombie game and at least the presentation of said story is decent enough. But honestly, if I have to choose between a game with absolutely stellar gameplay like Dying Light or excellent story like The Last of Us... Call me weird, but I'll go for Dying Light every time.

It'll come out this year but I don't think an official date has been announced yet. -

Can we slice monsters into bits with a katana? Check. Do we get fun weapons to play with? Check. Can we desecrate dead bodies? Check. Can we dual-wield? Check. Do we get score for our performance? Check. Do we get stupid, inappropriate jokes and nonsensical references? Why do I even ask. And there's a quick save button! GOTY, 15/10 Edit: Oh and the trailer just happens to have the best box quotes ever. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GHnZ5iOpEeI -
I kinda felt like W3 was balancing somewhere on the edge between grimdark and colorful when it came to visuals, whereas screenshots from Blood and Wine try to go full on the colorful aspect. It makes sense tho, after all, W3 portrays a land ravaged by war on one hand and what I assume is supposed to be Nordic landscape on the other. And then there's Novigrad and surroundings, fair enough. Well at least they seem to have dropped the awful green filter from 3...

Meh, they need to differentiate the expansion from the base game somehow. Besides, you can have grimdark within a colorful scenery. What we certainly don't need is another game taking place within shades of grey. Yes, I'm looking at you, Fallout 4. And Skyrim. And Dying Light. And... You know what, we don't need anymore grimdark visuals at all :-P

Is a barbarian worth it?
Fenixp replied to Kingsman's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Individually possibly, but not when taken in context of a full group. Barb will quite simply soak up more damage while other group members dish it out - I guess that's why Elric called barb an off-tank. At any rate, I'd say barbarians are just highly situational, much moreso than other classes which are a lot more dynamic - they're mostly useful when they can tie up a large amount of trash mobs in combat, which is a situation in which barbs excel. And... That's about it, really. They're also kinda amazing at procing crit effects when you manage to get their acc high enough. -
I assume there's a Dark Souls thread around or you can probably create one. When you're frustrated, vent. When you're stuck, ask. When you feel like bragging, brag. Interaction with a community helped me immensely to enjoy the game. And most importantly, try to approach it without expectations. (when I started the game having expectations, I absolutely hated Dark Souls, couldn't play it for more than few hours at first. Then I figured out what it actually is.) Dark Souls -pretends- to be an uber-difficult western-like RPG, but ... It's really not. The game requires you to assume entirely different mindset than majority of all other games I have ever played in my life and while I'd hate majority of elements present in Dark Souls when taken individually, FROM software makes all of these elements miraculously function. (well it's not miraculous per se - Dark Souls firmly stands on being incredibly internally consistent, but that's for another discussion) And when you get into the mindset this game requires of you, it's not even really that difficult, just incredibly unique.

-Completely- unrelated to discussion at hand: Does Dark Souls III still offer offline mode? Dunno why, I just feel like asking. (alternatively a feasible way to opt out of invasions like DS1)

Hearts of Stone is ~lvl30 and takes place before ending the main storyline (you can start it after finishing the main storyline however.) Level requirements for Brood and Whine have not yet been announced.

Well I wanted to, but then this BDSM chick showed up and started explaining importance of pain to me: So naturally I said "Yes, Mistress" and went with Ardent Mages. On the upside I managed to construct this thing: It turned my expansion town into a manufactorum, which is both pretty awesome and disturbing as my research can't keep up with the speed of construction in this place. -

It's not actually that pretty, but for some reason I find that menu background gorgeous. I guess it's prettier in movement. And yes, their cities can pack up and leave. -
'sides, you can only realistically do a pacifist run if you either know the game extremely well or read up on it before. There's no way you just boot up New Vegas for the first time, not knowing anything about the game and then do a run without killing anyone. While it's plausible under very specific set of circumstances, it's extremely unlikely to happen by chance.

After 20 hours of playtime, I am finally ready to play Endless Legend with all expansions I have purchased. Yay! I'll probably try out the evil war bugs of war. Also, there's a content manager right in the main menu which allows you to enable and disable DLC at will. Amplitude gets the honorary badge of UI design.

Not really a game for you I'm afraid. Even if you managed to avoid killing anything (and you won't, even as a solo thief focused on stealth) the game still portrays some rather gruesome and/or disturbing scenes during your playtime. The first town welcomes you to a tree filled with hanged corpses and that's just a start.

I hate 4x and I have played Endless Legend for more than 15 hours, so that's something :-P But yes, this statement could be quite damning, so why do I love it: - Extremely slick UI - Oozes personality with each faction having a set of unique mechanics working well with their theme - Quests, quests, quests. It has fairly rich lore and nice storyline which ties it to Endless Space and Dungeon of the Endless. I'm a bit of a lore freak so I adore this and the quests add a lot of nice gameplay elements. - Expansions which actually add nice and fun content - Absolutely amazing presentation - design is gorgeous, soundtrack is stellar, it's a joy to look at While you're at it, also get Dungeon of the Endless if you like stories and enjoy some rogue-lite ... Things ... With ... Stuff. It's extremely difficult to even begin describing what Dungeon of the Endless actually is. It's a game with dungeon and rooms and towers which defend things that's not actually rogue-like and it's not really a tower defense either. Blah.

To be fair, that I could realistically use the starting equipment all the way to the end of the game was one of my favorite things about Dark Souls. Then again I'm not a huge fan of equipment progression.

Man o' War: Corsair, Warhammer PIRATES! or something like that. Is it any good? -
The idea of building a theme park seemed incredibly unappealing to me after playing TTDX for easily hundreds of hours and constructing complex railway networks. I was so very wrong. Well there's Omerta which is *cough* really really good *cough*

Well priest in my party is doing buffing, debuffing, healing, damage, area denial and fuels my PCs hidden humiliation fetish.
